speaking with the old vampire, Zurgad was on his knees chained to the ground, he couldn’t
speak “This incident could turn our houses against each other Charon, make sure you have
him whipped, flayed or something and have him put somewhere where he can’t cause trouble
to anyone, my son has committed an act against our house and he will be punished for it, take
your prize witch, you have earned it” rage was boiling within as he looked at his former lover
with disgust “It was too easy” she said sitting in front of him as the solid steel door closed “I
knew your memory was shot but for you to let me kiss you, now the man I knew would have
socked me in the teeth but I guess you are not really that man anymore?” she smiled “Are you
working for Virtus?” he asked, she looked at him angrily “By the grace of the sun I would
never work for that disgusting creature, no I was ordered to capture you to stop the damage
you are doing” she said but Darius looked confused “Damage? The hell are you talking
about?” he asked now confused “The Iron Gaol for one, the Academy of Tir’la, the Grand
Dragon Temple, the Seer Tower in Jotungard. You are costing our resistance efforts against
Virtus men, resources and the constant interruptions with your endless murder, you need to be
shackled like the animal you have become” her voice was now filled with hate “The Seer
Tower in Jotungard? I had nothing to do with that, at the time I was trying to rid myself of the
stone, as for the Academy of Tir’la, a magic crystal exploded in their repository again I had
nothing to do with that I just happened to be in the same town” there was zero empathy in her
response “Doesn’t matter anymore, the Inquisitors of the Sun are not going to forgive and
forget your crimes and your debauched existence” Darius thought this was incredibly
suspicious, why now and not several years ago… Was Virtus protecting him through threats
and intimidation? Who was to say, the Inquisitors of the Sun were not mercenaries but
religious sanctioned people that believed their way of life was to be forced on others and
convert everyone to the Glory of the Sun as they called it, Darius never bought into their
zealotry as he saw them as a bunch of hooting idiots around a bonfire howling at the moon to
vanish before them and bring the radiance of the sun back to their lives was utter insanity and
to Darius it was a primitive belief to keep people in line and in fear of the darkness when in
reality they should have embraced the darkness and not fearing what lay within.
with snow, it was all very boring quickly forcing him to sleep. In his head there was a
meeting of the minds as it were, the dragon appeared and what could be identified as Bane
was there as well “In quite the conundrum aren’t we” said Bane with what seemed shadows
of himself clinging and pulling at himself but still with a sinister smile “You’re fading fast
there Bane” remarked Darius “To be expected of course, but this could just be a figment of
your bored mind” retorted Bane whose voice seemed to fade in and out but Darius seemed to
just hear him, Vra’kei however was humming to himself and ignoring everything else “The
Inquisitors will have our balls in a sling Darius, if you don’t take those hands of yours and
wrap around that bitch witch’s throat and snap her neck like a chicken, if we reach the
Fortress of the Dawning Sun we are more than fucked, if the Iron Gaol was Limbo this is a
Purgatory with nasty spikes and things to spread orifices that are not meant to be spread and
we will never escape from this, you know that more than others” there was a fleeting memory
of time in a golden fortress that glowed like fire in the sun, the Inquisitors of the Sun were
more vindictive than the ones in the Iron Gaol in that at least if they no long have use for you
they may just throw you down the shaft to the large angry monster that dwelled there but with
the Inquisitors they still have someone trapped in their laboratory for the last two hundred
years just finding new ways to either cure or instill diseases in others in which case most
countries or nations on the other side of the world call them the Demons of the Plaguesun.
There was a solid kick to Darius’ leg “Wake up we are here, your new home” the door to the
carriage opened and there were several armored soldiers clad in sun covered armor with their
helms with a large sun motif, Darius laughed and the soldier was confused but was punched
in the gut regardless “Silence infidel!” the soldier said, Darius against his better judgement
headbutted the soldier and knocked him over “Infidel” sarcastically mocked Darius while
being dragged off but stopped after he passed through the threshold of the fortress.
