Yuki and Kurai immediately dropped their bags to the ground, they rushed over to the staircase before jumping down the entirety of it.
Yuki reached the front door first, and she quickly opened it to see the commotion outside.
Standing on the smooth stone pathway was a large muscular man. He was about 198 cm with long silky black hair that reached just above his knees. His bangs were long, messy, and hung in front of his face. His black eyes were both piercing and powerful as if a single glance could tear someone's soul from their body.
He wore an all-black suit with a purple embroidered sigil symbol on his chest pocket. But what stood out the most was the six large horns stemming from his head. Everything about him felt intimidating, terrifying.
"That's the symbol from the tenth glass figure," Kurai thought to herself. The realization of the situation hit her quickly. But it was confusing.
Why would such a powerful demon move in with them?
Yuki's gaze shifted from the strange man when she heard someone fall to their feet. When she looked in the direction of the noise she noticed a tall and beautiful woman with long wavy brown hair.
She was dressed in black and blue with butterfly patterns decorating her clothing.
"Nyoko?" Yuki asked softly in awe as she studied her friend. She looked so different.
"Yuki?" Nyoko responded with a wide grin, she quickly returned her gun to her holster before speed-walking to Yuki and hugging her tightly.
Toku carefully jumped off of the high tree and landed on his feet, holding his sniper rifle in his hands. "Are we just forgetting about him?" Toku asked in an attempt to redirect everyone's attention to the large demonic man.
"As I said. I have no intent on harming any of you," The man said. His voice was deep yet smooth, like pure velvet.
"And how can we trust that?" Nyoko questioned with a straight face as she kept clinging to Yuki. It had been so long since she saw any of her friends, that it was hard not to feel so clingy.
Yuki allowed Nyoko to hold onto her as she carefully turned her head to study the mysterious man. He looked intimidating yes, and so was the aura of his immense power, but they weren't the kind to back down.
"Because I was sent here to guard you." The man's words sparked a confused curiosity in the other four.
"Guard us? By who? Why would a demon guard us?" Kurai felt a chill run down her spine as the demon looked down at her.
"By Lucifer. Calista requested he send me here until you are all fully ready to protect yourselves. She doesn't trust you are strong enough yet," He explained.
"Calista?" Yuki asked herself in her thoughts before speaking aloud. "Calista has sent us to kill demons. Why would she send one to protect us?" Yuki slowly moved Nyoko off of her and summoned her katana. She didn't trust this demon.
She can't trust any demon after everything she's seen and experienced. It made no sense that he would protect them.
"We aren't stupid enough to fall for that." The man looked mildly annoyed at Yuki's failed attempt at a threat.
He crossed his arms as he watched her steady her katana.
"You can't harm me no matter how hard you try to. But yes, I'm well aware she had you act as a demon hunter for the past few years." The man's voice was calm and unfazed as if he was only surrounded by mere ants attempting to fight him.
Nyoko put both her hands on her guns in case she needed to act as she watched Yuki speak to the demon. "We weren't acting."
"If that is what you believe then sure. All of you were only exposed to imps in the weakest state possible. Demons who came straight out of imprisonment with years of nothing but suffering." The man spoke as he slowly walked closer to Yuki, his voice dark and stern. He leaned down slightly as he stared into her eyes in an attempt to intimidate her and get his point across.
"So know this, killing any of you would simply be a waste of my time. Where you are now in terms of strength, you're like mere bugs under my feet," He said in all seriousness. "But I have no wish to go against, Lucifer's order. Now stop pretending you are stronger than you are, and let's establish that I'll be staying here until further notice."
Yuki glared at him silently, hesitating to speak. "Fine. But what's your name at least?"
"Abaddon," The man answered, his calm tone of voice returning. The four exchanged glances as Abaddon walked passed Kurai and entered the house.
Nyoko watched silently as Abaddon entered the house and left the four of them outside. "Did your goddess, Calista, say anything about sending a demon general here?" Nyoko was absolutely dumbfounded at the information. She heard a whole lot about Abaddon from The Goddess of Life, Croía, but she never imagined she'd meet him.
All Yuki could do was shake her head, she was just as dumbfounded after all. She carefully sheathed her katana before looking at the front door. "The most we can do is keep an eye on him. In case he tries something,"
"I assume it was rather dumb of me to believe everything was finally making sense," Toku said softly in his usual stoic voice.
Kurai nodded in agreement before walking to Toku. "Well, since we'll be living together. Can I know your name?" She asked curiously, her words bringing Yuki to the realization that they both had no idea who Nyoko's guardian truly was.
"I was named Toku."
Kurai smiled sweetly at Toku. "It's nice to properly meet you then Toku," Toku nodded softly at her words as he studied her.
"Come inside, the house is so cool! You gotta try this door thing!" Yuki exclaimed as she gently grabbed Nyoko's arm and guided her into the large home.
