After that incident, I was reborn in a way, my feelings, unease, and all those feelings of doubt, were ripped from my soul. It was a pretty rough, direct way of doing it, a way that included a lot of pain. But you have to fall down in order to rise up. After that day, I changed everything about my lifestyle, apart from my laziness when I woke up.
I want to point something out, I may be lazy, but at least I wake up 2 hours before classes, not 30 minutes like before, and I do exercises. Fitness helps your body and soul bond with your mind. I may be too spiritual, but I made a breakthrough, and I'm happy about it, so don't hate me, okay.
So back to the topic at hand: this week I was very mindful throughout the classes. If I want to rise and do what my mother wanted, I have to get stronger and fast.
This week we also started training classes to develop our battle IQ. In my free time, I trained by myself, and it paid off. I got a bigger understanding of my ability and for my elements, I can use wind more freely, and I discovered that I can use other elements as well, but I can't do it freely. I need a lot of concentration to just maintain it for half a minute, but I can't do spellcasting yet. But at least I'm evolving.
In the battle classes, I observed the other battles, and I can say we have pretty good classmates. After the first round of battles was over, I became the leader of my team, William became the spellcaster; Riley became the riot; and Helen and Max remained observer and tank respectively.
This week I wasn't put in any battles against Ryan, probably the instructor avoided us battling again to give us time to cool off.
In each battle we had, our teamwork got better and better, it was like we were fighting together for ages, and we didn't lose a game. Teamwork makes perfect.
William's ability, Infernal Flame, got better, and he was remarked on by everyone, but he doesn't like to stand out, so the popularity was a bit hard for him to handle, but his bodyguards, I mean friends, were there to protect him from the fans.
William's ability is basically to burn everything in his way. He can make floating orbs of fire and shoot fireballs from them, or he can simply burn the enemy like a flamethrower. He told me there is more to his ability than meets the eye, but he can't control it very well, and he will use it as a last resort.
The 'Party Team' as Helen called it, was having multiple hangouts outside on campus this week. I can't say that I had a problem with it, but I can't stay out until midnight every day. I can't betray my pillow, my mattress, my blanket,my dreams...oh...beautiful dreams. I can finally sleep without nightmares, and every night before sleep, I recall the message I was told by my real mom.
And today, at the end of the first week, is the big day—the day we were told who was promoted to the next group, group C.
And in the evening, we were called by the instructor to the training grounds. So me and William met with the other members and walked to the grounds.
"So who do you think will be promoted?" I asked nonchalantly.
"Well, I think it should be us, right, right?" said Helen looking with big eyes at all of us, looking for approval.
"Helen, don't be so optimistic, from what I know from previous years, there are very low chances for all of us to be promoted, probably the best will be selected." said William with his precaucious nature.
"Tsk, of course they will be choosing Mr. MVP here and will leave the rest of us behind, that's why you're so relaxed."
"I'm not relaxed, I'm just keeping the image, and I'm happy, why would I freak out like you." I said this while shaking to tease Max.
"Hey, who said is scared, and stop doing that, do you want to die!?" said Max while taking a fighting stance.
"Wait guys, how can you be so insensitive about our teammate Riley? Why don't we ask him his opinion, huh?" said Helen while pouting.
"C'mon, don't get angry, but if you make him speak, I will do everything you want for the rest of the week, but if not, you need to shut up until you are asked."
"Are you serious,like, seriously serious?"
"Yes, but don't forget what happens if you lose."
"Heh,heh, don't worry, there is no one who can resist my friendliness."
"We'll see about that."
We stopped for a moment to see Helen trying to make Riley talk.
"Heh,heh, I changed my view about you, making a bet in a way to make her think she will win, nice. It's clearly impossible to make him talk."
"So Riley, who do you think will be promoted? Don't be shy, you can tell me I'm your best friend."
She was looking at him with a big smile on her face, and Riley pointed to his finger all of us, including him, answering the question easily.
"Huh?"
Helen made a look as if she didn't understand what happened.
In that moment, me and Max burst into laughter, collapsing to the ground.
"So feel like giving up now, you don't have to talk, just shake your head like Riley." I said while laughing.
"Who said I'm giving up, I'm not finished yet."
"Maybe you are not finished, but Riley is.... hahah."
"What do you me-.... huh... he was here like a second ago, whaaat?"
"He was pressed by too much social prowess and felt like flying away."
Riley used his ability to escape the friendly Helen.
We found Riley at the training grounds, taking a breather.
Helen tried to say something, but she lost a bet, so no talking until you are asked. For Helen to not talk every two seconds was a mission impossible, but for now she managed. But the sight of Helen trying to not say anything is beyond hilarious, she looks like she will explode any minute.
When we were all present, the instructor started the announcement.
"I guess this is the moment all of you were waiting for—the promotion to the next group. And I can say that this time, because of some unexpected incidents and because the group C instructor asked me something this week, we will have a whole team that will promote."
When he said that, everybody started whispering between themselves. I guess it is a pretty big deal that a team will be promoted, not an individual or more.
Everybody, please be silent, so as I said, a whole team will be promoted. And this team was specifically chosen by the group C instructor. He said that this team showed incredible skills that should be rewarded with a promotion. (That damn Frederic, thinking he can take my students.) Now, without further ado, the team that will be promoted is...
Everybody was on their toes waiting for the name.
"Is Lucas team with him, Max, William, Helen, and Riley."
(Huh, wait, our team—wow, that was unexpected.)
"I want to congratulate you on your promotion, and I hope you will go for even higher heights." he said while sticking his hand out for us to shake it.
"Well guys, what are we waiting for, let's go." I said to our team
"Aye,aye, captain," said Helen, smiling and making a salute.
"This will be fun, hehe." said Max, hitting his fists.
"Oh, this is incredible. Okay, let's do our best" said William.
Hmm," said Riley while giving us a thumbs up.
And with that, we left the training ground, heading to our next challenge.
