Rolf didn’t know how long Yam had sat slumped at the door, sobbing quietly, her venom gone, her anger spent. She didn’t know how long it had been since Aey’s throat-ripping screams had started. A minute? An hour? All she knew was that it had stopped.
Wait.
It had stopped?
“Yam, yam yam yam!”
The Tabaxi raised her red-rimmed eyes.
“…what?”

“Fine! Yes, fine, that’s the word. It’s all fine. I did it. Fixed it. No, that’s the wrong word too.” Her eyebrows furrowed, and was it not for the blood, she could have been drunk. “I dunno. The important thing is that whatever I did, I did it! Oh, yeah, wait… what’d I do?”
She shrugged, and a chip of one of her horns clattered to the ground. “Ah, whatever.”
Her eyes rolled back in her head, and she promptly passed out.
