Running From Him

Chapter 15: *Gags*

Chapter 15: *Gags*

Oct 07, 2023

🏃Clark's POV🏃

I had a date tonight. It was a fun thought, especially since now I didn't have to add dread to it like I did the last time. As for all dates before then, well . . . I try to act like they never happened.

Liam, being sweet as usual, invited me out for a date, the first one as an official couple.

I swear to you, my thoughts have never sounded so dang cheesy.

I was standing inside my walk-in closet, staring at all of the clothes and trying to figure out which outfit I should go for tonight. Liam told me that we would be rollerblading tonight and I assumed that we would probably get some food after that so I was going for some sexy casual.

I could do sexy casual.

—————

Why is it so hard to sexy casual? When I planned this out, I knew that I might have some extra trouble so I gave myself an extra hour so that I could second-guess myself a ton of times and get to the perfect outfit.

But, I already went through the first hour and the second was starting to come to an end. I would have been less worried if I had a couple of outfits decided already, but I was still just staring at my clothes and waiting for something to come to me.

Should I go street style, preppy, and mix extreme casuals with very classy to get the perfect middle?

I groaned and went into a full squat. Why was this so hard?

I stared down at the carpeted floors of the closet for a good two minutes before I stood up again.

Don't overthink it, stick with what you know and what makes you look fucking amazing.

I was going to go for preppy because it was what I did most of the time anyway. I went up to my wall of pants and grabbed a pair of dark blue jeans that had a loose fit, I then walked over to my button-up shirt and grabbed and one that was a light blue, almost white color.

I looked at the items and sighed in relief because I finally had an outfit. I looked around the closet to see if I could find anything else to pair with them. I noticed one of my favorite sweaters hanging off to the side and I went to grab it. It was a light gray and it paired perfectly with my pants and short-sleeved shirt.

I started to change out of the sweatpants and the plain T-shirt that I was wearing and put on the outfit that I picked out.

With the outfit on, I walked up to my floor to ceiling mirror and checked to see how I looked.

I had rolled up the bottoms of the jeans to show off the lighter colour of the inner fabric to give that clean pressed look and to seem like I really cared about how I looked. The light blue shirt looked really nice against the dark pants and I loved the addition of my grey sweater.

It was perfect.

I walked over to my bed and looked at my phone to see that I only had twenty minutes left until I had to leave.

I quickly went into the bathroom and grabbed Ethan's hair dryer to style my hair as quickly and effectively as I could, then went back into my bedroom to grab everything important that I needed.

I double-checked everything and then left my room. When I walked into the living room, Ethan was relaxed on the couch watching America's Got Talent.

Just because we lived in Canada doesn't mean we don't watch American TV shows. If anything, because we lived in Canada we had to deal with 70% of our shows being American.

"Ethan, I'm going to leave for my date soon, I should be back before 1 in the morning okay?" I told Ethan, watching carefully to make sure that he was actually listening. Ethan looked up at me and rolled his eyes.

"Yes, you already told me this yesterday, remember Clark?" Ethan teased. "Thank you for telling me, but don't stress."

I nodded and tried to soak in Ethan's advice. It was hard to take the advice easily but I understood where he was coming from and knew that he was probably right.

"Okay, yeah sure. Don't stress." I said to myself, walking around the couch to sit next to Ethan.

Another act was walking onto the stage when I sat down, it was a group of four men dressed in suits and I wondered if they would be singing. Their music started and they all took a long swig of water before they all started to spit it out.

They seemed to be spitting it out with coordination and started to walk around and do tricks with it?

I was very confused and pretty grossed out but it only got worse. They started to spit it at each other's faces, then into each other's mouths.

"Oh my- fuck! Eww, Ethan!" I yelled instinctively, sinking into the couch as far back as I could get from the TV while sitting down. Ethan was doing the same and I was glad that he was also grossed out.

For their final act, the guys stood in a straight line, passing one take of water between all of them before the very last guy swallowed all of it.

Ethan and I screamed and I felt myself gagging. It was the single most disgusting thing I have ever seen and the only judge not of the four that buzzed it was Simon Cowell. I had never respected the man more.

Mel B, the woman who was Scary Spice in the Spice Girls, raved about how unique and great it was and the crowd stood up to give them a standing ovation.

I took that as my cue to leave.

"I think I'm going to go for my date now, Ethan. Enjoy the rest of the show." I told Ethan, smiling at him as best I could while still thinking about that disgusting act.

"Uh, okay, yeah bye," Ethan replied back. He was still pretty shaken himself and I could relate.

I went to the shoe closet and pulled out my pair of brown, faux leather shoes. Once I pulled them on and was sure that I had everything that I needed, I left the Condo.

Gosh, I hoped that Liam could help me forget about that. I found myself shivering with just the thought.

One date coming right up! I'll just serve it with a side of mental torment!

That AGT act still gives me chills sometimes.

(Book Two of Falling In Like. Can be read as a Stand-Alone)

WARNING: This is one of the first books I started writing! Because it took a while to finish, the later Chapters have more of my newer (better) writing style compared to the beginning. This is a much more dramatic, angst-type of book compared to my fluff-filled others. If you want slight frustration and cuteness all the way through, nearly every other book I have fits that description. Thank you :)
