“Welcome to your final stage kid, I have been watching you but this is as far as you go. Handover your life and I might let the woman live.” Dobius said as he stood before Alex and Merissa.
“See I told you the shovel might come in handy.” Alex commented.
Alex then pulled himself away from Merissa and took a fighting stance, at least that’s what he tried to do with his weakened body. Merissa stepped in front of Alex.
“We don’t have time for this.” Merissa said as she removed two scrolls from her leather pouch and unfurled them. The magic symbols in them lighted and shot mana beams at Dobius.
Dobius removed a scroll of his own and after chanting something the scroll shined and a spear came out from it. He used it to deflect her blows.
“Alex, do what you have to do. I’ll keep him distracted.” Merissa said as she took a new set of scrolls out and placed them on the ground.
“Already on it.” Alex said as he limped his way to the grave where the symbol was reacting, using the shovel as a support.
“Not so fast, you don’t!” Dobius said as a soldier dressed in black robe and a white mask similar to the ones Bodi had outside, came out from a shadow nearby to his side.
“Since you have chosen to struggle, I’ll let you have a painful death.” As soon as those words left Dobius’s mouth he injected the person in the robe with a syringe containing reddish-black fluid.
Not even a second later the soldier’s body began to twitch in erratic ways. The next moment the robe fell as a human shaped metal doll was revealed.
‘So then… none of those people out there are actual persons?’ Alex thought to himself as observed the doll.
Dark marron muscle fibers began to emerge from the doll’s joints, covering its arms, legs and torso up to its neck.
“Forbidden dark blood magic… Who are you?!” Merissa asked with a horrific expression. It seemed as if she had witnessed such magic before.
“None of your concern. Kill that kid, flesh warrior.” Dobius ordered as he himself charged at Merissa with his spear.
The flesh warrior rushed towards Alex heeding Dobius’s order. Merissa tried to intercept it but Dobius had other plans for her.
“Handle that freak with the spear Merissa, I’ll break this doll, never really liked them anyways.” Alex said as he dropped the shovel and Miracle’s sword appeared in his hand.
‘Mircale!’
‘Let’s go! Partner!’
A huge of mana released from Alex’s body as he used his final trump card. Just like the first time fighting with the bandit summoner, Miracle inserted large amounts of his strength and mana inside Alex. With this all the pain, tiredness and fatigue, he was feeling earlier had vanished! But he knew that once this little boost was over only his death was waiting for him.
The ground beneath Alex’s foot cracked as he rushed forward towards the doll.
He swinged his sword in a vertical arc, trying to cut the doll in half, but it was met with the doll’s arms. To Alex’s surprise the flesh on the doll’s arm protected it.
The impact from the attack sent the doll a few steps back but it did nothing to damage it.
“Tsk! Mana Slash!” Alex called out as released several razor-sharp mana slashes at the doll. Once again, the doll blocked them with crossed arms, sliding a few feet back from the impact.
Miracle, ‘That insect, gave this doll a troublesome boost.’
‘What do I do then? At this rate my stamina and strength will run out faster than I would be able to break it.’ Alex said.
‘Observe! No magic is absolute! Don’t stop your attacks, you’ll eventually see a gap in its armor.’ Miracle advised.
Taking a long breath Alex focused on increasing his strength. The blade of his sword began to release mana almost in the form of smoke escaping a fire.
The doll swinged his right hand at him to take his head out but Alex quickly ducked and attacked its foot. The doll without flinching punched at Alex again. The latter moved his head out of the way and as he did, he changed the sword to his left hand. He then quickly grabbed the doll’s stretched out arm and used it as support to do a circular flip over the dolls head.
Alex positioned his sword next to the doll’s neck resulting in bringing it crashing down on the ground. Alex looked upon the doll as it remained unmoved for a second. However, the next moment light lights glowed through the eye sockets in its mask.
Suddenly the doll grabbed the sword and brought its legs back as if doing a yoga pose and kicked Alex back.
He went flying back and crashed into a nearby pillar.
“Ow…” Alex rubbed head as he got back up. He soon realized that the sword was missing in from his hands. He looked up only to find the doll running at him with his sword in hand.
The doll threw the sword at him at incredible speeds. Thanks to his reflexes Alex avoided it as the sword plunged into the pillar behind him. However, it was only a distraction as the doll followed up with a punch to his face.
Alex was quick in removing the sword and used it to deflect the doll’s hand. The next moment Alex concentrated large amounts of mana at the tip of his sword’s blade, compressing it continuously to have strong piercing strength.
The next moment he thrusted his sword right in the middle of the doll’s chest. Instead of avoiding it the doll stepped up meeting the attack head on.
*Zzzzt* *Boom*
A sharp noise ringed in Alex’s ears before the doll flew back crashing in the opposite wall. Alex began to huff as he looked in the direction of the doll. And as he half expected, the doll stood back up without a single scratch. The red glow from the doll’s eyes intensified as steam suddenly escaped the joints of the doll making the flesh muscles formed on it a bit leaner instead of their previous bulky self.
