The meeting lasted for 2 hours straight, and I am tired and hungry, at least I had managed to close that deal or Brian would have had my head hanged if I had costed him a 2 million deal.
I walked into a restaurant and ordered the special of the day as I took Brian through the whole deal when the laughter I have grown to know which is engraved on my memorise her presence alone interrupted my call with Brian, I don’t believe in coincidences, and I am sure not about to start now when I lifted my head there she was looking radiant and beautiful like she has not thought about me not even for a second.
I looked for the source of that laughter and there it was, a guy who was looking like he had won a lottery with his hand resting on Dineo’s back.
I ended the call and looked at Dineo, she looked so happy, while I was anything but.
It was supposed to be me who was supposed to make her laugh like that, she was supposed to be looking at me like that and not that guy who looked like he was lost.
I know that I had no right to be this mad when I was the one who ended things, but seeing her with that idiot does not make it any easier.
Without thinking, I walked over to their direction, and the smell of her vanilla perfume made me to miss her even though she was a couple of feet away.
It brought back all the memories, and they all became so vivid as I got nearer to her.
With each step, my heart was pounding ever so loudly in my ears, but I had to do this.
“Dineo.” I said, and she froze in place, as if she could not believe that she was hearing right. The wine glass that she was holding slipped from her hand and slipped down on the floor.
I quickly bent down and picked up the broken pieces before the waitress came over to help.
I waited for the waitress to leave before standing up and fixed my gaze back to Dineo.
She looked beautiful, maybe more beautiful than I dared to imagine, I wanted to cup her face and bare my soul to her, but I didn’t because I had lost all the right I had off having to touch her like she belonged to me.
“Menzi.” She said my name like it was the distant memory she was not ready to visit ever again.
I smiled a little, ignoring the guy opposite her who was staring down at me. “Small world.” What I wanted to say was why was she here.
Was it because of me? Did she run away because of me?
She nodded a little, I would have missed it if I had blinked. She turned to look at her date and back at me “Andrew this is,” She looked at me like she did not know how to introduce me, what was I to her? “This is a guy I know from Gauteng.” She said, avoiding my eyes. “Menzi this is Andrew.”
I rejoiced a little when the guy was just Andrew and nothing else, and it was going to remain like that if I had anything to do with that.
“I am in town for a couple of days, maybe we can meet?”
She looked at me, and now I could clearly see the sadness dancing in her eyes as she looked at me, “No.” She said, “It is best if we do not meet actually, but it was nice seeing you.” She said, turning back to face the bastard who had a smug on his face, one that I wish I could wipe it clean from his face.
I nodded as I went back to my table and took my order as a takeaway, and I got out.
Instead of going back to the hotel, I stayed around in the rented car and waited for Dineo and when they finally got out, I followed them and watched as Andrew dropped her off and I also shortly left.
When I got into my hotel room, I flopped myself on the bed and called Brian, “You knew.” I said the minute he answered the phone. “You knew that she was here.”
“Yes.” He said instead of denying, “But in my defence I didn’t know which city she was in.” He said, “Did you speak with her?”
“Yes.” I said, loosening the tie, “And?” Brian prompted when I didn’t offer anything more.
“She found a boyfriend.”
“Did she tell you it was her boyfriend?”
I sighed as I unbuttoned my shirt, “No, but she looked so happy with him, and it is safe to say she never wants to see me again, and you should have seen that idiot’s smug face.”
And the darn bastard had the heart to laugh, “It is just a friendly competition, it is time to put a stop to this and get your shit together, I am tired of seeing your sad face.”
I rolled my eyes as I ended the call, and laid back on the bed. It was hard to picture her with someone else who was not me, hearing her laugh it was like Someone had taken a dagger and stabbed me directly into my heart.
I have to get her back, even if that means I have to grovel and beg, that is what I would do if that means I will be getting her back.
That idiot face has another thing coming if he thinks that I would let him have her just like that, he has no right to have his hands on what is mine.
I shut my eyes, hating the image that I saw of Dineo with that Andrew guy, I guess it is true what they say you never know what you have until you lose it, well in my case I never knew what I had until I saw someone else having what was supposed to be mine.
It all started as nothing other than a one night stand, it was supposed to end that night but fate had another card on its sleeve.
They met again this time they can no longer keep their hands off each other and soon their deal of no strings attached turned into something more, something more than Dineo and Menzi could have ever imagined.
