“I’ll start,” Hope spoke after a moment.
“I am what’s known as a Dragon Tamer mage. My power allows me to form contracts with either one or two dragons. With these contracts, I can summon either dragon to any location I can visualize as long as I know it’s direction from myself. That is the extent of my magic that I am aware of,” Hope explained.
“Then I shall take over from here,” Halo spoke up.
“I am one of the contracted dragons to Hope. In the Dragon lands, I am what is known as a Gale Dragon. While Dragons are commonly thought of as fire breathers, they can be users of other elements as well. In my case, my element is the fierce winds, that is why I am known as a Gale Dragon. However, it should be known that while my element is wind, I can also make the golden markings on my body glow due to my mother being a light dragon. Even so, I do not possess any light magic beyond that,” Halo finished calmly, turning to Draco.
Draco sighed, “I am the second contracted dragon to Hope. I’m known as the Surge Dragon back in Dragonia. My element is Blue Lightning, which is superior to regular lightning. Also, it should be known revealing details of the contract itself to outsiders is a forbidden unspoken rule.”
“Understandable,” Rachel nodded.
“I-I can go next,” Mizu spoke up shyly.
“Go ahead Mizu,” Rachel encouraged.
“I am what’s known as a Water Manipulation mage. While normal water mages can summon water for their attacks, I can’t. My magic only allows me to take in and control the water around me. My magic also makes it easier to sense my surroundings.”
“Actually, I’ve been meaning to ask you about that,” Karla interrupted. “You’re blind right Mizu? So how do you perceive your surroundings?”
“Karla,” Rachel scolded.
“It’s ok,” Mizu smiled as Rachel backed off.
“I cannot see anything, that is true. To me, everything is dark and blank, however with my magic, while it cannot allow me to see, it can allow me to understand my surroundings even if I can’t see them. My magic relies on the manipulation of water; therefore, my senses are in tune with the water around me. So, I use the water in the air to sense my surroundings. My magic can allow me to feel when something collides with the water particles in the air, helping me perceive my surroundings as if I were to be seeing them,” Mizu explained.
“I see, similar to how a snake perceives its surroundings through heat signature, you can’t see details but you can sense its shape and movements. Very impressive Mizu,” Rachel complimented as Mizu blushed.
“Do you know how far of a radius you can sense?” Silver asked.
Mizu thought on that for a moment. “I can sense my surroundings to about the end of that hallway,” Mizu pointed.
“I see, so about a 10-meter radius then. Very interesting. Thank you, Mizu,” Rachel nodded.
Mizu smiled, “I knew you guys would be curious anyway.”
Rachel smiled, “Alright I’ll go next. I am what’s known as a Light Spirit Mage. My magic allows me to wield a light-based energy as well as form a contract with a spirit, in my case Prism. This contract allows me to summon Prism into any size, given the amount of magic I use within each summon. Furthermore, like with dragons, Prism utilizes her own magic power for her attacks, allowing both Prism and I to wield our own magic separately aside from the initial summon. The biggest difference from dragon contracts with spirit contracts is that the spirit itself is directly ingrained into the summoners magic, as the spirit’s body is formed from the summoners magic. Therefore, when the spirit needs to rest, they rest within the summoner to recharge. I should also note that my light magic is slightly different than regular light magic due to the added Spirit contract. Although aside from color, I haven’t quite figured out the difference yet,” Rachel explained, nodding to Prism on her shoulder.
“I also possess an ability, called Hidden Eye magic,” Rachel started.
“Wait, what is an ability?” Kiara asked suddenly.
Rachel blinked in surprise as Rachel and Silver turned to the group, “Wait, you guys haven’t heard of abilities before?”
The others simply shook their heads.
“I always thought mages were only born with one element of magic,” Hope explained.
“Abilities aren’t magic elements,” Silver piped up as everyone turned to her.
“Abilities are singular spells ingrained within one’s body, they can be either complex or simple, but most importantly they can be a type of magic completely outside one’s magic element. You are correct that each mage is only born with one magic element at their disposal. However, there are some small exceptions, abilities being one of them,” Silver explained.
Rachel nodded, “It should also be noted that not every mage is born with an ability, however those that are, find them to be quite useful to combat their own weaknesses. My ability for example, allows me to see things that are hidden or invisible by magic. Silver’s however is different.”
Silver nodded, “My ability is known as Time Body. Basically, it negates any and all Time magic against myself. Therefore, my personal internal time clock never changes. So, as you can tell, our abilities are different from our magic elements.”
“So, an ability can be basically anything as long as it’s one spell?” Mizu asked.
Rachel nodded, “Yes, that’s another reason why it makes us mages complicated.”
“Anyway, since you’ve already started, would you like to explain your magic element, Silver?”
Silver nodded,” I am what’s known as a Blacksmith mage. My magic allows me to create swords within my memory. As long as I have wielded the blade previously, I can scan its general makeup and recreate it using my magic. Incidentally, my magic also makes my body immune to fire magic. With my magic, my only weakness is my arsenal.”
Rachel narrowed her eyes during Silver’s speech, curious about her honest take on her magic. Silver noticed Rachel’s gaze, but both said nothing.
After a moment, Kiara spoke up figuring it was her turn, “I’ll go next, but mine isn’t really worth much of anyone’s time.”
“I apparently wield what is known as Pulsation magic. This magic allows me to create pulses of energy, similar to blasts of air, through the palms of my hand and balls of my feet. Doing so can allow me to literally bounce off of the air itself or even a water’s surface. However, it doesn’t suit me for battle so I prefer to utilize my martial arts instead.”
“I disagree Kiara,” Rachel spoke up, Kiara turning to her.
“I think your magic suits you perfectly,” Rachel assured, confusing Kiara.
“May, it’s your turn,” Rachel spoke, changing the subject.
“Right!” May stiffened, trying to be serious like everyone else. “I am an ice mage! I can wield large pieces of ice with my magic, except my ice is different! It’s super strong that not even steel or fire can break it! But it does hurt me if I use it too much though…” May finished trailing off nervously.
“Thank you May,” Rachel smiled softly. “And last but not least Karla. Would you tell us about your magic?”
Karla stared forward as everyone stared back at her waiting for her response. She knew her turn was coming up and it only left her more anxious by the minute, but now it was really her turn. Her palms grew sweaty and she felt as if the room was closing in around her. Her heartrate increased, her breathing starting to shake before-
“Karla.”
Karla froze, staring back at Rachel as Rachel looked back at her pale complexion calmly.
“If it is too difficult to speak of your magic, would you at least describe some of the things it can do?”
“But-” Karla tried to argue.
Everyone else has to share so doesn’t she, right? It just wouldn’t be fair.
“Karla, we’re not going to pressure you into doing something your uncomfortable with. We all have our own skeletons in our closets, our own scars, whether it be mental or physical. All we ask is that you tell us what you can,” Rachel comforted.
Karla stared back for a moment before she took a deep breath, “I-I wield a type of fire magic. It’s not easy to control so I don’t use it in crowded areas, but this magic does heighten my senses a bit so there’s that…” Karla muttered.
“Is that ok?” Karla asked nervously.
The others looked unsure, but as Rachel smiled, the others turned to her.
Rachel’s smile was menacing as her eyes darkened with a confident glint in her far-off stare, “On the contrary, this is perfect. Listen up, I’ve got a plan, and the first step involves you, Silver. You will draw them in. You’re their target, after all.”
