Mad with envy and rage at having been played as a fool to the people, the Prince worked with some of his staff to have the Princess removed from her position by claiming that she was attempting to take over the kingdom for her homeland. Soon rumors from the Prince’s people showed the Princess to be a sneaky sorceress who had bewitched the Prince and turned him to a fool, all in the hopes of stealing his kingdom and giving it to her father, the neighboring King. Despite everyone knowing that the Princess had married the Prince as part of a treaty and that this kingdom had just helped defend their home from invasion, the Prince outcasted her and banished her from the Palace by force, sending countless assassins and leaving her no choice but to flee from the castle to protect her own life.
The fourth wife had been an emotional support to the women and had also served to distract the Prince whenever he deemed to visit their Palace throughout the war. Despite her swollen stomach, she was still a great beauty and her delicate smile and kind temperament pleased the Prince. She would sing for him, her voice high and delicate like that of a bird and was often seen hanging onto his arm and laughing at something he had said. The fourth wife by this point was no longer the slightest bit infatuated with the Prince, but knew that by constantly being near him and flirting with him, she could keep his attention away from the Princess who was working tirelessly to protect her people.
When the Prince had finally caught on and sent assassins after the Princess, the fourth wife had helped to steal the Princess and her child away in the night and get them on their path to safety. Taking them to a horse she had prepared, she gave them thick and heavy coats slicked with a rubbery substance. With a raised eyebrow in question the Princess gestured to the coats, curious as to the reason for having been gifted these on a calm summer night. The fourth wife simply smiled and told the Princess that she was not the only one who could plot a trick on her enemy. The Princess nodded and donned her and her child with the cloaks, trusting in the woman that was like a sister to her. With one last final hug for everyone, the Princess left with her sniffling child, trying her hardest not to try as she was forced to leave her home and those she thought of as family.
With one last little sniffle, the two women returned back to their rooms, as panic and word spread of the Princess’s escape. Quickly the fourth wife went to the balcony attached to her rooms and with arms spread wide to the sky, started a fierce storm that muddied the ground and made following the Princess basically impossible. Not only were the pursuers not equipped with rain gear but the heavy rain had erased all tracks made by the fleeing pair’s horse and no tracker in the world would be able to find them now. It took a lot of energy to keep the rain going for hours covering such a large portion of the kingdom. By the time the lady-in-waiting came back and declared the search had been canceled because they thought she had been swept away in the rain, the fourth wife was utterly exhausted and collapsed as her knees gave out on her.
