I think the backgrounds look fine. Maybe with large panorama like backgrounds, a watercolor or Impressionist type style? Or the style of the millions and billions of dots, if you really hate yourself and are bored. 🥲😅 Maybe even the art style of the era of the setting... 🧐
Just remember to give any characters the same style so that it's all cohesive.
PS: My favorite art style is Still Life, but I also like Rothko and Mondrain.
