what if I told you that Hyacinth's lips are softer than I ever imagined and his embrace is gentler than any I have felt before?
Would you think me crazy? Probably no crazier than I already am, and yet I swear it's true.
I woke up in the morning feverish like never before in my life. My whole body feels like there is a blanket of metal on me. It is so hard for me to write this entry, but I feel the need to do so, as if to assure myself that it really happened.
Hyacinth was sitting next to my bed, watching me anxiously, stroking my cheek with his translucent hand, which felt pleasantly like a cool breeze. I felt delirious, the words of my neighbor kept running through my head that the curse first drove people mad and then cost them their lives. I smiled wearily never before had I believed in such a thing and yet a ghost sat beside me.
At some point I must have lost consciousness because when I last opened my eyes the sun had just risen. The next time I lifted my heavy eyelids I felt a gossamer pair of lips on mine while my apartment was dark. It was not a kiss but rather a chance touch of two lips hovering over each other. Again I sank into blackness, wondering if I had imagined the touch, as well as the pleasantly dark voice calling my name.
The next time I regained consciousness it was bright again. Not from the sun, however, but from the overhead lamp. My neighbor was discussing with a man who looked like Hyacinth but could not be, because he was not a ghost.
"She's awake." the Hyacinth doppelganger pushed the other aside, straightened me up and poured water into me, while he stroked my back incessantly. Again and again his hand found my forehead groping anxiously for my temperature.
"What, what's wrong?" my throat burned like fire, my voice scratching painfully even in my ears.
"Everything will be fine you're just a little sick. Sleep..." My neighbor interrupted Hyacinth with a vehement shake of his head.
"Nothing's all right. Something is playing an evil game here, to me it looks like someone is trying to mimic the supposed family curse. Unfortunately, what he or she is doing is real. The life is practically being sucked out of them. Your friend here, however, refuses to leave your side so we can investigate before you waste away." I really didn't like my neighbor.
"How did they get into my apartment?" Irrelevant questions were more important to my cotton-packed brain than relevant ones like my life.
"He there took me." My gaze slid to the man who continued to hold me in an extremely tender embrace. It really was Hyacinth, only how was that possible?
"The Lord Spirit can manifest when he steals life breath from people. It does not last long and it is not advisable. Anyone who agrees to do it drastically shortens their life by doing so." My neighbor looked at me urgently, almost warning me that I should not get the idea. I nodded weakly. Hyacinth stroked my hair but did not speak.
"Honored lady of the castle, you should really start urging your beloved to leave. Whatever is lurking here will strike soon, and I don't want to....
