Red strings started to appear suddenly centuries ago. At the start, the red strings meant nothing to anyone, especially since one could only see the string attached to them and no one else's. When the first man spoke about it, he was considered crazy. When the second man corroborated the first man's story, others started to share their encounter with the red string that appeared out of nowhere tied to their bodies. It became commonplace to talk about the strings even though they could not see them on each other.

   When the first two people who saw each other's string met, they didn't know what it meant but fell in love. They shared their story, creating a snowball effect of people searching for their connections.

   As time passed, they came to call these connected two soulmates or destined lovers. When even more time passed, the red string became attributed to the mythological God Eros or Cupid. Praying to the mythological god of love became commonplace despite the awareness of his fictitious nature.

   With more stories and more time passing on, more knowledge was known about the red string.

   Scientists learned that the red string only appeared between the ages of five and sixteen. Everyone receives a red string from the Cupid and in the rare case that it didn't appear, well, no one has ever admitted to it.
