Meet Kuro Ganettō, a Pokémon trainer and aspiring World Champion. He has brown skin, straight, black hair, and garnet-red eyes. He's wearing black, slim-straight jeans, a white T-shirt, and a garnet button-down that is open. 

He's getting ready to face Björn, who is also looking for Championship gold. He looks like a stereotypical, Sinnoh Ace Trainer. 

"Ready when you are!" Kuro called to Björn. 

The Ace Trainer replied, "I was born ready!" 

Abomasnow roared a bit, activating its Snow Warning ability, causing snow to fall. Kuro called out, "I know Abomasnow is 4x weak to Fire, so I'm not gonna just knock it out that quickly. Charizard! Use Dragon Claw!"

The Flame Pokémon's claws glowed green, similar to the animation in the XY anime series. It flew towards its treelike opponent.

Björn commanded, "Counter with Wood Hammer!" 

Abomasnow's right hand was covered in a green aura, shaped like a a wooden hammer. It then rushed towards Charizard! They both collided, but Charizard pushed it back, causing the Frost Tree Pokémon to stagger back. Björn said to himself, "Shit, this is tricky. Might have to Mega Evolve." 

Kuro thought, 'I guess I should do the same.' He looked at his Key Stone. 

His Mega Stone on his right wrist glinted in the sun. He and Kuro then pushed their stones. "Mega Stone, hear my cry," he chanted.

He and Kuro both simoutaneously cried, "Mega Evolve!" 

The two Pokémon became bathed in a blue light. The Mega Evolution symbol appeared in front of the two. Then, it disappeared, revealing Mega Abomasnow and Mega Charizard X. Two powerhouses are ready to duke it out for a win. 

Kuro commanded, 'Flamethrower, Charizard! Let's go!" Charizard roared, spitting a stream of blue fire at Abomasnow. 

Björn retorted, "Use Water Pulse!" The Frost Tree Pokémon stood on its hind legs and formed a blue ball of water with its forelegs. It then fired a ball of water with a white core. Upon impact, it  formed a pulse of water. But the fire collided with it, making steam. 

Björn chuckled a bit. "Haha. You're pretty strong here, for a Kalos champ. But now it's my turn. Use Ice Punch!" Abomasnow rushed towards Charizard, its right fist covered in an icy aura. 

Kuro closed his eyes; he opened them a bit. "You made a biiiig mistake. Charizard, use Blast Burn!" 

A blue, fiery aura emanated from the dragonlike beast. It then punched the ground, causing blue flames to jet at the Frost Tree Pokémon. Abomansow stopped in its tracks. The flames erupted under Abomasnow. KABOOM! The opposing 'mon fainted and reverted back to its corresponding form. 

Björn returned Abomasnow to its Great Ball. "Return, Abomasnow. You were great out there," he reassured. 

Kuro followed suit, putting Charizard back in its Ultra Ball. "Return. You did a good job. Another W for me and the crew." 

Kuro walked up to Björn. "You did a good job. You almost beat me! Maye we can battle again one day. How about a 6-on-6 battle?" 

"After I get done with my homework. How bout tomorrow? I can bring us some Casteliacones for the two of us."

"Sounds perfect!" Kuro smiled. "Later, man!" 

He and Björn went on their separate ways. Kuro sighed. 'Really just doing this for fun. Maybe when I hear back from the World Coronation peeps, I could get training. But how can I do that? I have a lotta Pokémon. Maybe I can alternate between battles. Keeping Charizard anyhow." 

He arrived at a terra cotta-painted, two-story house and went inside.
