The blessings were given to the first generation by the gods as gifts of recognition for all the hardships

the world went through. The blessings gave about the alteration of their bodies physically and mentally.

What was deemed impossible before was now a reality with the wave of hands. Some were able to

summon the elementals, making known of the first mages who then spread knowledge to each other

like wildfire, known as The Wave of Insight. The gods were pleased with our comradery to help, guide, and teach one another into the new world. When asked by the beings the name of such blessings, the gods decided to name the power, Aptus, representing the flow, connection, and harmony of the world.

However, not everyone was pleased with the gifts like those who could not properly inherit the miracle.

They began to curse the gods, saying that they were choosing favorites and leaving others to the mercy

of the blessed. This infuriated the gods, causing them to look on in disgust. One god stepped forward.

The god, resembling both that of man and woman with indescribable beauty laid out both arms towards

the unfortunate bunch. The god gave them the option to take the hands and receive power like the

others. 

Of course, they did just that and like promised were given the powers they very well sought, but

what happened after was that everyone who made contact with the god was no longer humans. They

began to morph into abominable creatures, some never before seen and some resembling the ones

already familiar.

They all cried out in pain and agony while the god stared on. The god cursed them to fight one another

eternally and banished them to a place we now refer to as The Bestial Gardens. The gods then took

leave, only leaving behind Aptus to the world of humans and those alike. The first generation were

thankful and continued their teachings to one another and continuously prayed to the gods. As the

world continued to take its shape, so did the garden. The creatures who resided there began to leak out

uncontrollably, causing chaos to the blessed.

 This, however, led to the creation of Divers. 

Divers were those who fought against the monsters, hoping to eradicate them from the world and give peace to the helpless. The book went on and on, explaining the origin tales of Aptus and eventually, the world I know today. It is said that all beings contained an affinity for Aptus, but it was up to the being to accept it. Aptus is

unique to one another. The meaning is the same, yet serves a different purpose for all. I couldn’t quite

understand. You see, Aptus also resembles your will and can be affected by your parents and theirs alike. It also stated that your affinity is predetermined through the generations, making it easier to identify those of family. For example, a royal family of fire users will of course give birth to a child with the common Aptus affinity at that point being fire.

So why could I not use Aptus?

Aptus is first accessed upon children once they’ve reached the early age of seven and in some cases,

even before. Not once has there been an exception for those older as people deem them as cursed

children, bound to be ordinary. I groaned, seeing as I was fated to live a passive life unable to do nothing but look on, powerless. I flipped more and more throughout the book looking for something, anything that would

relieve the heaviness in my chest building by the second. Eventually, I found what I had hoped.
