Sava was ready to be killed by his own son, but Demyan chose to put
him behind bars for now. He would deal with the former King and his
antics later because it's much more complicated than this. He wants to
keep his contract and lead the Vampire Kingdom into a new age of peace.
Demyan
rushed out of the hall still in his wedding attire stained with blood.
He was searching for Petrona and Adrik. Demyan met at the front door
with Luka, Mirko, and Viridi, who rushed back to the castle to help them
fight instead of escaping the Waste Lands.
They arrived too late for the "party". Questioning Demyan, he just blurted out: "I am the new King..."
and ran up the staircase looking for the pair. Everybody looked at each
other and silently followed him. Demyan was suspecting that Adrik took
Petrona to his bedroom and he was right.
The door swung open and
Petrona was laying in Demyan's bed unconscious, while Adrik was leaning
over her trying to give her some water. Demyan was shocked and rushed
passed him to inspect her.
Petrona lost a lot of weight, and despite
not being fed well before, she looked worse. Now she became even more
frail. He knew it was his fault, that he allowed Livia to keep her that
long in her disgusting vampire nails, but he was happy to be in
Petrona's presence at last. Gently, he lifted her tiny hand into his
bringing it to his forehead.
The guys entered the room without any
sound and watched them. Viridi sighed after witnessing Demyan's love. He
was no match to Demyan, he knew it the day he let Petrona cross the
border of the Goblin Kingdom.
Luka was already used to it and just
sat down with a huff under the bookcases and Mirko joined him. Adrik was
dusting his clothes after the push slightly annoyed. His wounds were
already healed, but some new cracks remained. He knew he was close to
death this time.
Demyan smelled the copper emanating from his
clothes and felt disgusted. He began to undress and rummaged in the
closet for a change. He found Petrona's clothes which were drenched in
her sweet scent. For a second he brought the clothes to his nose and
smelled it. All the guys watched him silently and he didn't care.
He
realized something... he dropped her clothes and half dressed he ran up
to the bed. Her scent... despite being right next to her... He leaned
over to lift her blanket. Everybody was confused about what he was
doing. Baffled Adrik expressed his discomfort about what he was
witnessing. "Please, she is a lady. Show her more respect in a room full of other males..." Cold sweat ran down Demyan's face.
"You don't understand... She is on the verge of death... her scent is disappearing." That caught everybody's attention. Viridi shouts out. "Impossible! The hornhead sucked out all the poison not so long time ago. You can do it again, can't you?" Viridi looked Adrik's way and also just now noticed the cracks, he narrowed his eyes inspecting them.
Demyan turned to Adrik. He wanted to know what was Viridi talking about. Flustered Adrik blushed... yes a demon blushed. "I can do that anytime..." Viridi cut him off. "Probably not a good idea for you in this state... I can do it!" Adrik stunned looked at the Goblin Prince. So he wanted to have a turn? How dare HE!
But, Adrik suspected that Viridi knew something about his cracks so he obliged with some annoyance. "So you are choosing death?!" Viridi ironically chuckled. "If it will save her, I will..."
Adrik asked Luka to turn into his werewolf form and also Mirko to
assist him. They all surrounded overly confused Demyan and manhandled
him to hold him up.
What the hell were they doing?! Viridi in a hurry
sat down next to unconscious Petrona taking her gently into his arms
and giving her the "KISS" of life to absorb the poison which accumulated
unexpectedly too quickly in her body, probably because it was too weak.
Demyan was outraged.
Viridi
could feel Demyan's fury, as well as Adrik's anger and Luka's glare...
The damn goblin was really choosing death by Demyan's hand and
understood what Adrik did in his absence. Demyan turned on Adrik and
they began to struggle. Already weakened Adrik was pushed against the
wall, but at last, Adrik punched Demyan in his face, because he was
brought to the edge of his patience.
"If I didn't do it that time,
she would be already dead and if Viridi doesn't complete that
procedure, she will DIE NOW! So get over your stupid ego! It is
necessary to do it this way... directly sucking the poison out of her
system."
Demyan still on his knees and hands looked Viridi's and
Petrona's way. He was eaten by jealousy, but he could close his eyes...
this time. It was his fault after all.
But still, he could see that
Viridi was enjoying it and Demyan rather chose to look away because he
would kill both Viridi and Adrik.
"You should go and fetch some some jewelry with obsidian to keep her safe." Mirko offered his... but Demyan who was slowly standing up waved him off. "No need..." Demyan
came up to the table with drawers and searched for something. He took
out a box with Petrona's ring, which he took from Livia when she was
unconscious on the balcony.
He came closer to Petrona's bed,
restraining to not interrupting Viridi, but he was already completing
the task and pulled from her lips with a small smile, which didn't
escape Demyan's attention. He kept his composure lowering his gaze to
Petrona's hand and putting the ring back on its original place.
As
Viridi's eyes met with Demyan's he understood to back off immediately if
he still wanted to live. Demyan sighed and side-eyed both Adrik and
Viridi as he was taking a shirt out of the closet and straightening the
collar on it before buttoning it up. The atmosphere in the room was too
tense.
After the uproar in the castle, many advisers and
officers were walking up and down the hall around the door of Demyan's
bedroom. They had no clue what he was doing there but didn't dare to
just interrupt him. They feared his anger would fall upon them.
The
royals who attended the wedding withdrew from the close proximity of
that specific area. They were worried about losing their status after
the young prince's take-over. Nobody expected Demyan to win over his
father who was known to be the strongest out of them all.
Petrona
began to run a fever. Demyan touched her forehead with his to cool her
down. His body temperature was on the cooler side since he was a
vampire.
The adviser decided to knock on the door at the most
inappropriate moment. Furious with red glowing eyes Demyan opened the
door staring them all down. The men backed off, they all could feel his
anger. "Please... My Lord... We need to start to work on the documents..." Demyan was about to shut the door in their faces, but they still gathered the courage to protest. "It's a dire need to do it as soon as possible...!"
Demyan's
fury grew even more. He was getting impatient with those daring men. He
looked at Adrik. He could tell what Demyan was thinking. "Absolutely not today..." He looked at Petrona lying in bed, which angered Demyan even more. How dare he look at Petrona in that manner.
Mirko could sense the growing tension. "Well, I could volunteer together with Luka and Prince Viridi?"
Luka
couldn't believe what he was hearing, he didn't want to leave after
they finally found her. Viridi protested as well. Demyan thought for a
second and pushed those three into the arms of the advisers. "These
loyal men know what I wish for, so give them a run down and they will
tell me later. I don't have the time now for banalities!"
The adviser protested. "My King, by all respect, how can you call these important matters banalities?"
Demyan gave them a dead glare. They scattered away as disloyal
cockroaches. Demyan at last closed the door behind those noisy idiots.
"I thought you wanted to establish peace as soon as possible..." Adrik became snarky with him. "That can wait. I don't care anymore, because it's already in the making... Now I have something different on my mind." He walked up to the bed and brushed Petrona's bangs from her face.
That
made Demyan mad. He could picture Adrik's lips on Petrona's. How dare
he touch her! Demyan grabbed him by the arm. Adrik grew horns and his
eyes suddenly glowed. He turned into his real... demon form. "You are starting to forget who I AM! You became too comfortable talking down to me..."
Demyan unfazed stepped even closer to him and right into Adrik's face. "I don't care WHO YOU ARE! Make me care... The only thing I care... is what you dared to touch. She is MINE!" Demyan gifted him with a vampire glare. Adrik sighed and shook Demyan off. "I should never brought her here..." That enigmatic sentence made Demyan curious. "What do you mean?!" Adrik turned to him once more.
" You will bring her ill luck..."
