Sion was a horse. A gorgeous horse, with an even more gorgeous mane. The mane was her point of pride. It flew against the strong wind, occasionally brushing against her muzzle. The silken texture of the fibres astonished her and her vanity grew with every strand. The moonlight drizzled its silver spun light on her body as she lay against the plush grass.
She gazed up into the moon and the pure beauty of it all struck her like a bullet.
The stars were gems sewn across the coal-black sky. Somehow, the blackness was woven with a rainbow of colours, and the sky seemed ethereal with them.
A splatter of red was blotched in hidden waves. Yellow was deeply painted into the sky, the stars enhancing the colour. Streaks of lavender ran across the night, leaving a palette of its hues strewn behind it. Baby blue was blended with a dark navy and it elegantly danced with the others. A fiery shade of orange surrounded the stars, coating the sleeping entities. The moon was glowing with its silver self, smiling down on the smaller celestials.
Heavenly. That’s how Sion felt. It felt as if each light that was delicately placed in the sky was only for. She knew this wasn’t the case of course, but it still felt nice to think about it.
One specific star was a crown jewel on Night. It must have been the closest because Sion could have sworn that this one was the most brilliant. If she looked too long her eyes would sting. If she looked for more than around three minutes her eyes would be burning, while at the same time brimming with salty tears.
Sion decided to avoid looking at a single star for too long. Her horse self was much more sensitive than her human self, she realised.
After some more leisurely minutes of nature watching she decided that it was time to feast. And horse Sion knew how to feast. A nearby grove was filled with lush green trees, and each one was bearing ripe fruit. No tree bore similar fruit to the other, and each one had a different taste. The first fruit she tasted resembled the stars, bright orange and had a strange tangy taste that Sion didn’t care for. The second was a cheerful shade of yellow and was sickeningly sour. She puckered her mouth and accidentally bit her tongue after getting her first taste of the overwhelming flavour. By the time was at her third try for a feast Sion had no hopes in her mind.
Well, the third time the charm.
The ruby red crust encompassed a sweet and tart combination that she could die for. The skin was a crunchy addition to the soft inside and she ate four of the mystery fruit in a minute. She knocked the trees that bore the tart dessert and the red sweets rained on her head. Sion gobbled them up, not caring to save some of them for later.
Sion knocked each tree and snatched them into her mouth without a second thought. Before long, she felt as if she had eaten enough for five.
A quick nap would do her good, she decided. Sion trotted her way back to her clearing in the meadows. The grass welcomed her with open arms and once again, she fell back into the world of dreams. Or perhaps it was a dream inside a dream. At this point, she decided not to use specifics that would confuse her lethargic mind.

Sion was swimming with colours. Pearl white waved at her before diving into the water and Cotton candy pink was chattering with saffron. Blood red, dark orange, amber, emerald green, baby blue, and maroon were all curved over each other. They were trying to make a rainbow. They were failing, baby blue was much too short to support emerald green and they both ended up smushing over maroon.
Each attempt ended up with a painful crash but each colour laughed it off before reattempting. Sion greatly admired their cheerfulness and wished that her brother would have the same jolly attitude.
But what brother did she have? Sion couldn’t remember any sibling she had, her parents had tried several times to produce an heir before joyfully receiving Sion. They didn’t try after her. And they definitely didn’t have any children before her.
Now that she thought about it, who were her parents? How did she know so much about them when she didn’t even know their names?
Sion's head felt like shattering as she tried to dig deeper into her jumbled consciousness. Suddenly, she forgot what she was thinking about at all. Perhaps it was about Baby Blue’s terrible rainbow performance. It was very entertaining watching them be capsuled by emerald green.
Watching emerald green Sion thought of money. Piles and piles of money. She smiled at the thought but while she thought of the pleasant wish her money vanished. Greedy hands snatched it all away leaving her bare. Sion frowned and before a minute could pass she forgot.
What was she thinking about?
It was probably about Coral Red’s new gossip. Navy Blue had completely forgotten about their younger sibling, Baby Blue and left them in the park until midnight. Poor Baby Blue was sobbing when Navy found them.
Sion was completely satisfied with her life. She had a palette of colours to talk to and entertain her. She didn’t have to worry about anything. So why was a feeling of dread filling her? She had everything. Everything. She had no right to fall into such a sense of despair. Sion had everything.
Sion’s head broke. Why was she thinking of such a thing? Never mind that what was she thinking about at all?
Must have been Baby Blue’s performance. It was quite entertaining.
