Diamond was sitting on the ground ten feet away from the body finishing off the last of her food as Chris was digging with a shovel and he finally stopped.
Chris turned on his flashlight into a hole, “Found what he was digging for.” Chris yelled out with a smirk. “Smack head to the end.” Chris threw his shovel to the side and went to grab his camera to take a picture of what he found. “Few bricks of drugs, heroin probably.”
“Officer Quinn?!” A male voice called out and there were a few flashlight beams from the road. Chris made a loud whistle and the lights looked down at them making Chris wave at them then pointed to the way down. “We’ll be down there in a second.”
“Bring the gurney, one fresh but very ripe body.” Chris yelled and got out of the hole he was in. “Also evidence bags, got some bricks needing to be bagged and tagged.” The other officers called out for what was needed and to block off the street for now. Diamond stood up to dust herself off and picked up her trash. “I’ll drive you to the station after everything is done here and Miss. Ashwood can pick you up there.”
“I want my knife back.” Diamond said before heading back up, passing the police going down, and Chris chuckled at her words. Diamond got to the truck’s passenger seat and looked at the picture of Ivan then snarled. “Worthless and pathetic, you weren’t worthy of calling yourself a therianthrope and blemish on your clan’s name.”
The police station was quiet that night and in the bullpen at Chris’ desk sat Diamond with her feet up on his desk and looking at a takeout menu. The other officers kept their distance from Diamond and she could sense all their fear from her being there. She knew some of them heard tales of her breaking cops and a lot more of them just being human.
“Feet off my desk,” Chris said as he tapped Diamond’s feet with a folder. He was freshly washed up and changed into fresh clothing and Diamond also noticed he wore his handgun, a Glock 17, on his left side. Diamond stared at him for a second before putting her feet down and crossing her legs.
“Thank you, so want to come down to the morgue with me or just going sit here like a bump on a log?” Diamond paused and tilted her head and tried to figure out Chris, as she didn’t sense any fear off him.
Diamond stood up and adjusted her coat while he put the folder on his desk, “Only to get my knife back, pure silver isn’t cheap.” She said as she walked past Chris to head to the elevator and Chris followed her shaking his head with a smirk.
“That is true,” Chris said and once in the elevator he pressed the 3rd floor button. “Nix probably already has it nice and cleaned up for you.”
Diamond made a small nod at his words about Nix. Elevator stopped at the basement floor, the lab and morgue floor, and Diamond walked out first with Chris walking behind her.
Diamond walked a few feet before turning left to the first door and that door was to the morgue. The room had three slabs for bodies and on the left side of the room was a wall of drawers for bodies. On the middle slab was Ivan’s corpse, his body was covered from ankles to shoulders, and the room smelt of disinfected cleaner. Diamond went to the empty slab to sit on it while waiting for Nix and Chris walked to the side of the corpse with Diamond facing him.
“I almost didn’t need to do an autopsy on this one and I could guess which Cleaner did the job.” A female voice said from the door they just entered and both of them looked to see Doctor Nix Martin standing at the door.
She had paper white skin and black hair with a bob cut with bangs that covered her eyes and two silver lip piercings on her lower lip, which had glossy black lipstick. Nix was wearing a tight black dress with a sweetheart cut and stopped at half way her thighs, and that fitted tightly around her curves. There was a rich blue part to dress on her chest area if looked from the front it would look like a heart. Along with the dress she wore a sheer black shirt, black stockings, pair of leather high heel boots that make her look taller than her height of five feet and six inches, leather collar around her neck, leather belt with silver moonflowers buckle and her lab coat.
Nix walked over to Diamond and held out a clean silver knife, while she held the knife end. “Since you, Miss. Silvervine, only one that uses a silver knife.” Nix stated as Diamond took the knife and slid it back in hidden coat pocket. “Breaking all the neck vertebrae with her fists and finishing off with a silver knife to the temple, classic Diamond Silvervine move.”
“Quick and efficient,” Chris said and stared down at the corpse. “So guessing the autopsy told you more information about this case.”
Nix turned around so her back was to Diamond, “He didn’t eat the young lady, at least not on purpose.” Chris raised his eyebrow and Diamond tilted her head. “Yes there are small pieces of her flesh in his stomach but only enough that proves he killed her with his jaws.”
“If not to eat her then why would this drugged out werewolf ki-” Chris paused and started to think, “Did he have any cash on him?” Nix shook her head no and Chris started to tap his chin. “Maybe he killed for drugs instead of using cash?”
“Sounds like a human action, ordering a drugged werewolf to kill.” Diamond said and got off the slab. “Not my territory.” Diamond started to walk off towards the door.
“Alright, guess I’m back at working the human side alone.” Chris said and leaned to Nix, “And I will see you later, mon Cheri~” He winked and Nix let out a small giggle before Chris went to catch up with Diamond. “Hold that elevator!”
Diamond held the door as Chris got there and he stood beside her and she pressed the floor button once he was in. “So you’re Nix’s chew toy.” Diamond said and pointed to her forearm referring to the wrapping around his forearm.
“Don’t you mean boy toy?” Chris said with blush and rubbing his neck. Diamond rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. “Are you sure you don’t want to stay on the case with me?”
“No.” Diamond said with extra ice in her voice. “I’m not a cop, I’m cleaner. I clean up therianthrope and vampire mess and threats to keep the secret peace between the races.” Chris nodded and leaned on the elevator wall. “Also we’re not friends, if anything we’re work acquaintances. If you last a month I’ll remember your name.”
“Far enough,” Chris said and stood up straight as the elevator door opened. “Still keep your feet off my desk.” Chris chuckled as he left the elevator before Diamond. Diamond rolled her eyes before exiting the elevator and her eyes locked on Ophelia, who was standing off to the side talking to the chief of police.
Diamond walked towards them, “Thank you, Houston, I will be in contact with you at a later date.” Ophelia said before shaking the chief of police’s hand and turned to Diamond. “Ready to go?”
“Yep and we are going to stop for food.” Diamond said and nodded to the chief of police, who nodded back to her before he left the two alone. “I’m hungry for burgers, and only burgers.”
Ophelia smirked and pulled out vehicle keys out from her suit jacket. “There is a Sheep Burger on the way back to your home.” She said and walked to the elevator with Diamond behind her. Once both inside the elevator Diamond pressed the ground floor button, “So, did you have fun a fight tonight, Dia?”
“No, just a pathetic and worthless werebeast that was just chasing a cheap thrill.” Diamond said and Ophelia nodded. “Also the human you partnered with me this time is weird.” Ophelia just laughed at that last comment.
