"O-o-oh shit..." stuttered Avinash, "Hey Dhriti, we got to leave right now..!"
"..."
"Dhriti...?"
I could feel my face heating up with every passing moment from the barrage of blood that was rushing into my upper body. My ears were pulsating once again, rupturing my senses with an uncomfortable gust of paranoia as I kept on gazing towards the dark emptiness behind that tree, visualizing those dead set pair of eyes, gazing back at me...
"OIIIIIIIIIII-"
"HUh..!?" It was Avinash's panicking punch on my right shoulder that brought me back to face the reality of the situation, "Oi- Hey hey hey, just CALM DOWN!!"
"W~Wh-what wa..s that!?" I exclaimed, my voice shaking heavily from the aftershock of the incident,
"I DON'T know that; but what I do know isWE NEED TO GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE..!!" Avinash exclaimed, impatiently flashing at the woods surrounding us.
"Y~yes, yes, l-l-let's go..." I affirmed, picking up my mobile phone from the muddy ground,
"Follow me, fast..!" he commanded, dashing off towards the college sticking his mobile out in front of him in the form of a torch. Shaking my head free from the different hues of anxiety, I set off after him.
'And here I was fictionalizing reality a few moments ago..' I thought, as we ran past that tree-
"Hey, hey, hey-Wait a minute...!" I called out, abruptly halting just a few steps from the tree.
"WHYYYYY-"
"One second.." I whispered, inhaling deeply the eerie aroma of the woods. Amidst the crispy scent of the rain-soaked earth, I detected another fragrance- weak yet oddly familiar to my olfactory senses.
"Did you perhaps.. pick up on something!?" Avinash inquired excitedly, walking back a few steps towards me.
"Not sure.." I replied, noisily breathing in all over that area in seach of that sweet perfume fragrance.
"Man-"
Just then, the decibel level of that area stormed up like crazy as a powerful gust of wind almost pushed both of us onto the muddy ground we were standing upon, absolutely freaking us out.
"OH NOOOOOOOO...!" expressed Avinash, crashing into a tree in front of him to keep himself from falling,
"L... LET'S GOOOOO!!" I yelled, surpassing the chaos of the situation surrounding us, "W-WE NEED TO GET BACK TO THE CAMPUS BEFORE IT STARTS POURING!"
"Y-YES!"
And... we were back to running, once again.
Thousands of tree leaves clashed against each other, creating an enticing, chirping sound that drew my attention. As we ran through, the faint atmospheric brightness flickered through the swaying tree leaves, occasionally lighting up patches along the way.
*GMmmRRRrrrrrRRRRrrRMM*
Suddenly a low rumbling sound resonated through the clouds above us, somehow increasing the wind speed to the point where we frequently tumbled in its force but..
"Ah ha, there it is...!" commented Avinash,
...Although the situation we were in, was really terrifying and creepy, a tiny flicker of delight or satisfaction maybe, sprouted throughout my entire body like wildfire, initiating goosebumps all over.
That desire, to be out in the middle of no-where, in absolutely dire circumstances... 'Ah ha..'
(Onko: Remember Easter, even in the middle of unforseen darkness, ashes remain- ashes, of a desire formed sometime in the past, long ago- when we were curious about it all, when we were kids.)
...That dream of mine was finally getting realized after all this while!
An unknown.. or perhaps known feeling of nostalgia, was slowly shrouding me in its secrets, reminding me of my emotions from that time, the time.. I was leaving home one morning- A feeling of hope, a feeling.. of love!
"HEY BROOO..!" Avinash called out from the front.
The tone of his voice carried an unmistakable hint of joy.
"W-w-WHAT IS IT!?"
"WHAT ARE YOU THINKING ABOUT RIGHT NOW...?" he inquired, partially glancing back at me,
"WELL.. LOT'S OF STUFF, YOU KNOW,"
"ME TOO, He heh he.." he replied, presumably with what felt like a smile filled with satisfaction. His innocent commentary about the situation, unknowingly induced a smile upon my face too.
*GMmmRRRrrrrrRRRRrrRMM*
"HeY, AREN'T YOU GLAD THAT I BROUGHT YOU HERE TODAY...?"
"Heh he he he... ABSOLUTELY!"
"HA HA HA HA HA-YOO-WHOOOOO," he yelled, expressing his delight with his hands wide open-
*sleeeeee...*
"WHOA- LOOK OUT..!"
And there he was, seconds later, sprawled on the ground, his entire right half covered in a thick layer of mud.
"Huh..! There you go.." I asserted, halting before him and surveying his pitiful condition- he was totally enveloped in mud.
"Oh man...!"
"Okay, Get up now," I expressed, sticking out my left hand towards him, "You will need to take a bath after getting back, you know?"
"Heh (smirking), I guess this is punishment for my actions," replied Avinash, grabbing my hand.
Just then, the chaotic sound of the storm suddenly evolved into a heavy harmony as numerous drops of water joined the tempest. It was raining.
"Ha ha, there's no need to 'bathe' after all..."
"HA HA-" I enacted, taunting him, "Very DAMN FUNNY, INDEED--"
"He he.."
"I wouldn't want to get affected by PNEUMONIA on the very first day of my return so, just stop your TRAP, and GET BACK ON YOUR FEET.. QUICK!"
"Aye Sir!" he responded, almost jumping back up.
"Good"
"Well.. we are very close to the water logged area now, so 'will need to slow down anyway," he added, as he began running once again.
"Huh...!" I sighed, gazing up at the tree leaves, swaying and tweaking due to the impact of the water droplets.
'Atleast the trees have got us covered..'
"BUT HEY.." Avinash yelled from a few feet in front, "HAVE YOU FIGURED OUT WHO THAT 'ENTITY' WAS?"
'Well, not yet...'
"I-I'VE GOT THE SCENT MEMORIZED!" I replied, dashing forward towards him once again, "WILL TRY TO FIGURE IT OUT LATER!"
