Written By: Kaylee Jones [STUDENT]
Jax’s point of view
I open my eyes, I see a white popcorn like roof. confusedI turn my head. I see my mother next to me praying. She always prays holding her crucifix necklace. She sniffles and glances at me when she finishes. “Jax? Jax!. Nurse, he’s awake!. My mother yells. A Nurse rushes in. She looks at me surprised, when she snaps out of it she checks my vitals. My mother starts to sob profusely “Thank you God, Thank you for not taking away my baby!”. My mother hugged me tightly, I slowly hugged her back and started to wail. I grip her tightly: “Máma!

My mother explained to me that I was the only survivor of the incident, they said Jamie was missing but most likely dead, they said it was a miracle I was even alive. I started to cry again. “Jesse…Jamie….Tyler…Miquel”… I said weeping. My mom puts her hand on my back giving me comfort. “I know they were very dear to you…”. They weren’t just dear to me, they were my closest and only friends…they were people I could trust…T-They were my Everything. A police man entered the room. He looked like an investigator. “I am investigator James, do you have a minute?.¨. I hesitated to reply. My mom looked at me with a look that said reply to the man. “I have a minute…”. “I would like to talk privately with your son ma’am if you don't mind”. My mom insisted on staying with me. The investigator allowed her. The investigator gave me questions on where i went to school, what time did the incident happen, what was the license plate of the car and a lot of other questions….I didn't know any of them,..I felt stupid not being able to answer most of his questions….maybe Miquel or Liam knew the license plate….but…their dead…. “I'm sorry I wasn't much help sir…”. “no need to worry, you were a great help.”. He smiled lightly and left.

I was dispatched from the hospital a few days after I had woken up, it was weird to be home after being away for so long. I enter my childhood home. My little sister’s begin to greet me with great happiness. I didn't realize how much they missed me until they started to cry and hug me tightly like I did to my mother a few days ago. I’ve never seen them cry about my well being like this before. I tried to comfort them as much as I could, I wiped their tears and told them I was alright. They slowly calmed to my words and they began to lead me. They told me to cover my eyes on the way there. They were leading me to the living room, but why?. I uncover my eyes- ¨SURPRISE!¨. A welcome back party was set up. they hung up banners and had gifts laying around, I looked around shocked with a bit of flabbergast. Most of my family was there. My favorite Aunties, Uncles and cousins. They began to swarm toward me, before they could my mother suggested they don't get too comfortable with me just yet. I reassured my mother and allowed them to come closer, I enjoyed all the hugs and kisses I received.

The party is at its end. The guest family members begin to leave and wish me well. I felt great nonetheless. My mother and my siblings start to clean the aftermath of the party. I wanted to help so I began to pick up. Mother stops me in my tracks. I insisted on helping, She was persistent in letting me get some rest. I did not win that argument, so I headed upstairs in defeat. I went to my room and layed on my bed comfortably on my stomach. It went silent after a while. Until I heard my room creak open. I didn't feel like looking at the door so I just layed there.
Máma: "Jaxon? Are you still awake".
Jax: "Yes Máma"
Máma: "Will you be ok by yourself? If not you can, come sleep with me?."
Jax: "I'll be ok Máma, really". I turned my body to her and gave her a smile.
She began to softly smile back "Goodnight baby." "Goodnight". I began to get comfortable again. It became silent once again, I was expecting something to happen but nothing did. I got bored so I got out of bed but was stung by pain in my shoulder. I sat up all the way and investigated the source of the pain, a wrapped wound lay there. I look at it profusely like a child who has just discovered something new. How did I get this? I thought. I turned on the light above my dresser and took my shirt off. I touched the wrapping lightly and followed it down the right side of my chest, I started to wonder what was underneath. I started to look at the rest of my body, I had small white square patches here and there. I was surprised about how little I was harmed. I probably had a few scratches and bruises and maybe 4 to 5 deep cuts, but It was hard to count how many because of my dark skin. I put my shirt back on. My curiosity has faded and all I wanted to do was rest. I layed back down on my bed and got comfortable for the third time. I drifted to sleep and hoped I didn't have a nightmare of some sort. I may be well put together after an accident but seeing it again will haunt me.

I woke up abruptly, I was spooked awake by a sudden loud sound. I looked around my room, and then I spotted Jada, my big sister coming in the room.
Jada: Oh sorry if I woke you. How are you feeling?.
Jax: What the hell are you doing??
Jada: I came to check on you.
Jax: I find that hard to believe.
Jada: I really am here to check on your promise.
It was hard to tell when my sister was serious because she was a good liar. She would usually come into my room to pick a fight with me or to steal my money, and I just got money from my welcome back party. I glanced at her hands and she looked like she had something behind her back.
Jax: What do you have?!
Jada: Nothing, she said calmly.
She showed both of her hands to me. And she showed me her pockets too, nothing…surprisingly. I still didn't believe she was completely innocent, that's how much i don't trust her no matter how many times she tells me something i won't believe her. I started to get frustrated that she actually cared about me.
GET OUT! I yelled. It startled her, why?? I actually did come to see you dont you believe me…?. No i'll never believe you, GET OUT!. I gave her a stern look as I said that. She looked upset, she sighed and left the room. I didn't care much how she felt she did this to herself.
