"Ay!... Get away from me," Hanna groaned irritatedly.
As Jaemin got up from the ground, his gaze fell into where Sohyun was sitting with Hanna.
What are they doing there? Jaemin wondered as he squinted his eyes, watching them in each other's embrace.
"Oh! Their match is over!" Sohyun then sprang up suddenly and sprinted towards Jaemin brightly. "Jaeminzzz..."
Jaemin averted his gaze right away, feeling awkward. Sohyun jumped in front of him and offered a bottle of water to Jaemin. "Have some water!"
"Thanks." Jaemin grabbed the bottle and gulped it down.
Yohan glared at Sohyun for a few seconds and then whined, "Hyung, I guess I hurt my left knee and ankle... I can't walk properly."
Sohyun's eyes shifted from Jaemin to Yohan. Sneaky bastard!...
Then he said to Yohan before Jaemin could react to him, "I will take you to the infirmary..."
Yohan shook his head, bewildered. "No... No... I won't bother you. Hyung will help me!"
Sohyun gritted his teeth and said, "Get on my back! It's not a bother!"
I won't let you do your trick!!!...
Jaemin then responded, confused. "Sohyun, you can't carry him with that small figure of yours. I'll take him."
Can you shut your mouth, Jaemin?...
Sohyun glared at Jaemin, completely annoyed. "I SAID I CAN AND I WILL!"
"But Sohyun, let me just—" Jaemin muttered worriedly.
He then turned his back on Yohan as he grasped his arm and pulled it on his shoulder, making Yohan climb on his back. Yohan stuttered, shocked, "I... Said... I don't... need your help!"
Sohyun lifted him and carried him away, ignoring both Jaemin and Yohan. Dammit! He's heavy even though he's skinny!...
As they headed to the infirmary and were finally out of sight of others, Yohan tapped on Sohyun's shoulder and said, "Put me down."
Sohyun said mockingly as he stopped and put him down, "Why? Aren't you hurt?..."
Yohan replied coldly after Sohyun turned around and stared at him. "We both know what you and I did there..."
Sohyun smirked. "Hmm... I can clearly see what you're up to."
Yohan furrowed his eyebrows and asked, "Do you like Jaemin? But I heard that you had a girlfriend not long ago."
"I do. So, it's better for you to back off." Sohyun answered without even a hesitation.
Yohan crossed his arms in a defensive position. "He's not yours yet, and I can see that he only sees you as a friend... So, it's better for you not to embarrass yourself by confessing to him."
Sohyun shoved Yohan against the wall and held him there by pressing his left forearm onto his chest. "What do you know about him, huh? You weren't by his side for years, and you're acting as if he's in your claim?"
Yohan smirked. "Since I'm getting on your nerves, it shows that I almost succeeded. Soon, we will be a couple, and you'll—"
Sohyun fisted his right hand, trying to hit him as rage crawled under his skin. "You as—..."
~
Since Jaemin was worried about Sohyun carrying Yohan all alone, he followed them after he picked up his jacket and wore it.
Jaemin's eyes widened in shock as he stepped into the hallway. He then shouted as soon as he saw Sohyun was about to hit Yohan, stopping him. "Sohyun!"
Sohyun turned his head, looking at Jaemin, bewildered. "J-Jaemin!..."
Jaemin walked towards them as he frowned.
"What the heck are you doing?!" He asked Sohyun furiously.
Sohyun's eyes flickered between him and Yohan anxiously as he stepped backwards. "I... I... H-He..."
Yohan then cried, "Hyuuuung, your friend threatened me... not to hang out with you..."
Jaemin glared at Sohyun as he pulled Yohan close to himself. "Sohyun, what's wrong with you? Why would you do that?"
Sohyun freaked out, not knowing what to do or what to say. Yohan was pulling out the same trick that Sohyun had used on bullies before.
He muttered nervously, "Jaemin, I didn't mean... to... "
"Apologize to him." Jaemin demanded.
Sohyun furrowed his eyebrows, irritated. "I won't! I didn't do anything wrong!"
"Alright..." Jaemin responded, disappointed. Then he helped Yohan get on his back and carried him away without saying anything more.
Sohyun was frozen and watched them in silence. His heart throbbed with pain and anger. He felt like he was in a dream, unable to do anything except watch the two walk away. He finally gathered the courage to shout Jaemin's name, but his voice was too weak to be heard. He watched as they disappeared into the distance, leaving Sohyun alone.
I'm doomed...
~
Jaemin put Yohan down in the infirmary room and helped him sit on the bed. The school nurse asked, "What's wrong, kids?"
Jaemin replied, "His leg is injured."
As the nurse checked Yohan's leg, she said, "There are only a few scratches on his knees, but everything else seems fine."
Yohan flinched in response, afraid of getting busted. "Hahaha... Thank God that I'm not seriously injured..."
However, Yohan was lucky since Jaemin's mind was somewhere else; he couldn't comprehend what they said.
Why would Sohyun do that?...
He's not that type of person to hurt an innocent kid.
Is he stressed because of his breakup?...
He seems irritated recently...
His mood keeps swinging up and down...
It really bothers me whenever I think about it...
I should talk to him...
...
He then said before leaving the room, "Yohan, I'm sorry, but I gotta go."
Yohan was taken aback and called Jaemin's name, but he didn't stop.
Jaemin rushed down the hallway to find Sohyun. However, he was gone. He went upstairs hastily and got into class. Thankfully, Sohyun was there alone behind his desk, hunching his back and resting his head on his folded arms.
"Sohyun." Jaemin approached him.
Sohyun then lifted his head up and stared at him with teary eyes. "What do you want?"
Jaemin crunched down and held onto the edge of Sohyun's table, looking at him in wonder. "Why are you down lately? Hm?"
It's all your fault! Sohyun thought and then said mockingly, "Why do you care? Go and have fun with your dear friend."
Sohyun didn't want to talk like that, but he couldn't stop himself.
When you fall in love, you usually tend to do illogical things instead of acting rationally.
He forgot the fact that he wanted to fight for his love, not to fight with love itself.
He was now as stubborn as a mule.
Jaemin blinked in confusion. "Why do you hate Yohan? He's a well-mannered guy."
Sohyun scoffed, "Well-mannered, my ass."
"Hey! I'm trying to solve the matter with you, and all you do is just make fun of it!" Jaemin snapped at him.
"Because you need to open your eyes and see who he really is instead of blaming me!" Sohyun groaned as he got up from his seat.
Jaemin stood straight and pushed Sohyun into the wall by grasping his shoulders. "Don't judge people when you don't really know them! You'll also like him if you spend more time with him."
Sohyun clenched his fists, frustrated. "You... like him?"
"Of course I like him..." Jaemin replied.
Sohyun felt someone had just torn apart his heart. He then scoffed. "Aha... No wonder!" Sohyun paused for a moment, completely overwhelmed by his feelings. His brain wasn't functioning well.
He knew that he'd regret what he was saying, but he couldn't hold back the wave of his emotions, destroying the barrier of his right mind.
"He also likes you, so you guys can date already. I'm sure you two make a cute couple!... I won't bother you guys anymore."
"What?!" Jaemin arched an eyebrow as he was confused.
Sohyun yanked Jaemin's hands away and dashed out of the classroom while tears fell down his eyes.
I'm so stupid!... I dug my own grave...
~
As Sohyun was running down the stairs, he suddenly tripped. When he was about to hit the floor, someone's arm wrapped around his waist, holding him. The unknown arm pulled Sohyun upward and helped him stand.
Sohyun turned his head to see who had just saved him. He saw a tall boy with black hair and tanned skin; his eyes were a combination of green and gray, and his face was slightly angular. He had a confident smile and a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
"You okay?" the guy asked.
Sohyun flinched in response as he was still in his tight grasp. "I'm... f-fine... thanks!"
"You're such a cutie with these teary Bambi eyes and red nose, like Rudolf." The guy said as he grinned.
What the heck is he saying?... Sohyun wondered as he pulled back from his embrace, whipping his tears away. "Should I say thanks again?"
The boy laughed, showing his white teeth. "Haha, you're funny... What's your name?"
Sohyun started to walk down the stairs, and he followed him along. "Lee Sohyun."
"Nice name. I'm Park Minam." He introduced himself.
"Mhm." Sohyum mumbled half-heartedly. Why is he following me?!!!...
Minam then asked, "Do you know what's written on your forehead?"
Sohyun paused and stared at him, confused. "What?"
"I D.O.N'T C.A.R.E..." He spelt the words.
Sohyun said, "That's true. Now excuse me, I need to go..."
"Woah! Straightforward!" Minam chuckled and then followed Sohyun again as he exited the building.
"I'm sorry, but I wanna be alone." Sohyun said, irritated.
However, Minam ignored what he said and continued, "Where are you going, anyway? Why were you crying earlier? Is someone bullying you? You're such a cute, fragile boy, so I guess that must be— Eeeeeek..."
He turned around and punched Minam in the stomach, and then he groaned. "ARE YOU DEAF?! I TOLD YOU I WANNA BE ALONE! I'M THANKFUL FOR SAVING ME, BUT YOU'RE CROSSING THE LINE!"
Sohyun stomped a few steps away as Minam held his stomach, wincing in pain. "Ugh!"
Then he looked back, shouting.
"AND I'M NOT GUH DAMN CUTE NOR FRAGILE!!!... AAAAGH!..."
Minam watched Sohyun walking away again, then he rubbed his lips and muttered, amused.
"Hmm... I guess I found something fun here."
