Every tuesday the coffee shop was closed, so that the employees could take a break. (Although the employees consisted of the shop owner, Marianne and a few part-timers.)
Jasmine was out of town every tuesday, because she had to take care of her family that lived in the outskirts. Since they were all alone once a week Marianne had started to realize her plan step by step.
"Are you ready to go yet?"
"Give me a second, huh what's in your bag?"
"You'll see when we get there. Come on, we don't have time to waste."
"Why is everybody so energetic in the morning?", grumbled Silas tired.
Marianne looked at him and grinned as she saw that he was still half-asleep. ~This is going to be fun~ she thought. When they went outside Marianne grabbed her motorcycle and helped Silas get on.
"I still don't understand why I need to come aswell. The meeting would go just fine even if you were alone."
"Well it probably would still work, but you'd miss an oportunity to learn about how things work here. Besides if I get sick who will replace me?"
"As if you'd get sick! Urgh, let's just get this over with!"
"That's the attitude I like!"
During the ride she could still hear him grumble, about how he could have slept the whole day, but he still agreed to join her and that was more than enough for her.
After a while they finally arrived and she revealed, what was inside her bag.
There were two black masks decorated with golden patterns on them. The patterns consisted out of tiny Lizards and golden flowers. The masks themselves were made so that you could only see the lower half of their faces.
Silas put his mask on just to be surprised that it fit him perfectly. Seeing that he was surprised Marianne smiled proudly and put on her own mask.
"Let's go, they're waiting."
Without hesitating any further he entered the mansion walking right behind her. Soon after they reached the end of the corridor a pair of servants opened the doors to a big hall for them. Behind the doors there was a group of people sitting on a large table.
Everybody wore masks to avoid being recognized and as they slowly walked to their seat everybody had their eyes on them. Neither of them froze or got nervous instead they just walked calmly until they reached their seat.
The seat was made out of black wood and red leather. There also seemed to be golden signs carved into the wood.
"You're late."
"There were some complications on the way here."
"Is that so? Well either way, mind introducing that little kid?"
A murmuring started to spread across the table and everybody looked at the boy who stood next to her. Rather than nervous he seemed in a bad mood and looked at them threateningly. Most of them were taken aback because of his audacity others seemed rather intruged. Before anybody could say something else Marianne spoke.
"He's my son, aswell as my heir."
"Already planning on retiring?", asked one of them mockingly.
"Shut it. We are here to discuss something different", said the man who sat at the end of the table. It was clear that he had the most authority out of everybody in the room.
Marianne didn't find it strange that most of the people in the room were hostile, after all Asterikas had only appeared for a short while up 'till now. But she had no other choice, than to start from zero.
If her plan worked she wouldn't have to interact with them for very long, after all this was all a stepping stone to reach the top and get her revenge.
The past few months she had worked hard and was finally able to rise through the ranks with no greater problems, but the tricky part was still about to come. Once her group Asterikas rises high enough it will catch his attention.
"Moving on now. I gathered all of you here to discuss a certain kind of drug that has spread around like wildfire here in Zeon."
"What kind of drug?"
"-sigh- It helps people grow their strength exponentially, aswell as their regeneration and the only side-effect is a slight headache. The way it looks many have already tried it and there weren't any other problems with it. If we don't stop the spreading of the drug soon it'll become a problem for everybody present."
"And why is that? From your explanation the drug doesn't seem half bad."
"Agreed, we can strengthen our people with it."
"Have any of you ever thought of the possibility that you could get overthrwon by one of the consumers of the drug?", said Faden. One of the few neutral people at this table.
Once again everybody started to whisper, but this time nobody stopped them.
Lance the person to whom belonged nearly all of the town, wanted them to start thinking on their own and deciding as to what they want to do against this situation.
Sometimes he felt that the people in this circle were little kids who could do nothing on their own. When he looked up he saw that Asterikas was discussing the matter on their own.
A smirk showed on his face. ~This is going to be interesting. Never thought I'd find a new pair of pawns here.~
