I'll try to explain it in brief: Astraleids have additional stuff in their blood -- biomechanical molecular robots, that appear as iridescent vapour, called Autoichorium. Astraleids can control Autoichorium with their mind. Notice the device on the right side of Aekis' head? That's his exaglia. All Astraleids have them. That's what they use to control autoichorium.
