They exchanged a resolute glance and ascended the stairs, the urgency of the situation lending wings to their feet. As they pushed open the door at the top, the screams reached a deafening crescendo, and the sight that met their eyes made their blood run cold.
Raina, the rain goddess herself, was bound to a chair, her luminous tears falling like precious jewels. Before her stood a figure both menacing and otherworldly—a gray-skinned elf with pointed ears, his eyes radiating malevolence.
Rue's yelled out ,as he was feeling anger and fear. "Release her!"
The gray-skinned elf directed toward them, a sneer twisting his lips. "More intruders, I see. You've come to witness my triumph, have you?"
Tilla's fists clenched at her sides. "We won't let you harm her!"
With a snarl, the elf released Raina and lunged toward Rue and Tilla. The air crackled with tension as they clashed, each movement a dance of strength and will.
Tilla's foot struck the elf's side, sending him stumbling back, but he quickly regained his balance. "You're stronger than you look," he hissed.
Rue and Tilla exchanged a glance, their breaths coming in ragged gasps. "We won't back down," Rue declared, his voice unwavering.
As the struggle continued, Raina's captor managed to grab Tilla by the arm, his grip like a vice. She winced, struggling against his strength.
Rue's heart raced as he lunged forward, using all his might to break Tilla free. The effort was enough to send the elf stumbling backward, and with a triumphant shout, Rue watched as he crashed through a bedroom window.
Tilla's breath was labored as she stood free, rubbing her arm. "Thanks, Rue. That was too close."
Rue's gaze remained fixed on the broken window, brimming relief and triumph in the pupil of their eyes . "We can't let him get away. Who knows what he might do next?"
As they directed their attention back to the room, they realized that Raina was still bound to the chair, her face full of both gratitude and sorrow.
Tilla rushed to her side, fumbling with the ropes that held her captive. "We'll get you out of here."
Raina's voice was soft, her eyes shimmering with tears. "You've come to save me, just as the legends foretold."
Rue and Tilla exchanged a glance, their resolve hardening. "Legends or not, we couldn't let him harm you," Rue said firmly.
You're safe now," Tilla whispered, triyng to reassure her.
When Tilla finally managed to free Raina from her restraints, the rain goddess stood, her presence commanding and ethereal. "Thank you, both of you," Raina said ,her eyes shimmering with gratitude as she raised her hands, her touch releasing a cascade of droplets that filled the room with beautiful sounds. The walls seemed to absorb the moisture, and life flowed back into the room as verdant vines crept across the floor, reaching toward the sunlight.
Tilla's was amazed as she took in Raina's appearance, her admiration evident. "Wait,You're... you're really the rain goddess, aren't you?"
Raina's gave in into a faint smile, her voice like a gentle breeze. "Yes, dear child. I am Raina, the one who brings life-giving rains to the land."
Rue's stare shifted from Raina's adorned form to her long, flowing hair—a brilliant shade of blue that seemed to capture the essence of water itself. Her eyes, deep crystal purple, held a wisdom that transcended the ages.
Tilla's whisper was hushed as she took a step closer. "Your hair, your eyes... they're so beautiful."
Raina's face brightened up as she reached out to brush a strand of Tilla's hair. "You are both kind-hearted souls, to have ventured this far to save me."
Rue, with his wild curls and a habit of speaking his mind without a filter, couldn't help himself. His concern was tinged with a hint of skepticism as he blurted out, "But…So, Raina, why haven't you brought rain to the land then? Isn't that your job?"
Tilla's gaze widened at the blunt question, and she elbowed Rue gently, a silent reminder to show some tact.
Raina's expression remained serene, though Rue could detect a hint of sadness in her eyes. "I understand your concerns," she replied softly. "But I assure you, it's not as simple as it might seem."
Raina's smile was forgiving as she explained, "I have been held captive, unable to use my powers. An enigmatic being, a gray-skinned elf, held me captive in an attempt to harness my abilities for his own ambitions."
Rue's cheeks flushed with embarrassment, realizing the impulsive rudeness of his question. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to sound accusatory. It's just... the village and the forest have been suffering…"
“Raina, the world has been without your tears for too long," Tilla added, her voice steady. "We couldn't stand by and let that continue..."
“I understand,but-“ Raina tries to answer but is immediately cut off..
"Wait a minute Raina! We want to introduce you to the village! Let them know that you're real and that we're working together to bring an end to the drough!”
Raina's eyes were fixed to Tilla, her expression pensive. "As much as I appreciate the gesture, I must decline your invitation to the village, at least for now."
Tilla's headbrows pouted in confusion. "But Raina, they need to see you, to believe that you're real. The forest and the animals are suffering. Dark spirits are starting to enter the woods, and we fear what might happen if we don't bring back the rain."
Raina's eyes carried a fusion of concern and resolve. "I understand the urgency of the situation, but I must explain my predicament. During my captivity, the gray-skinned elf forced me to consume a strange green liquid. This elixir weakened my powers significantly. In this weakened state, I lack the necessary strength to bring forth rain."
