Police sirens were heard in the distance and pulled into the restaurant parking lot. They went through the motions of getting statements and seeing the camera footage that was taken at the scene. Police saw Yvette getting dragged from her car and trying to get away. A bit later she was seen running and tripping where she was then met by Cane who comforted her and then called the police. Statements and notes were taken, then a report was made. The police left and that was it the spectacle was over. 

     Yvette kissed Cane one more time before leaving, her eyes still red. Cane kept staring as the car left the parking lot. He felt his mind was in the clouds like his entire body floated, he felt like the world made sense again. He almost skipped all the way to his car as he replayed what just transpired. You could almost see the hearts float out of his head.

     

     Cane remembered walking away from Yvette, but soon stopped and turned around. He had seen Julian follow them out earlier and was giving him time to see if he did something. And, not even a minute before Cane was gone He saw Julian grab and take Yvette away. Yvette was physically weak right now and was vulnerable enough to be taken advantage of. As Cane saw Julian take Yvette into the forest, he made his way there, avoiding the cameras. 

     As he saw them get deep enough he got his trusty pocket knife and gave a quick jab into the back of his neck. Julian was so fixated on Yvette, that he never saw him coming behind. But, since this was the first time he had ever stabbed someone, he felt the knife get stuck as he fell to the ground. Cane placed his foot on Juliand's head and preyed the knife out. As he was straightening himself out he felt the flashlight on him. Yvette's crying face was staring at him and that sad expression began to invite him in. He was so entranced he immediately forgot about the dead body. The entire memory sent shivers down his spine as he drove home. He never thought he could be this happy with a mere kiss. 

     On his way home Cane stopped by a dumping ground that was known for having a giant hole that was deep enough to hide a body. So, that is where he went to dump and hide a body. He felt it was easier than expected. He paid a worker to lead him and a little extra to keep his mouth shut. Then from there, he was back to his car and he even left with a souvenir, a leg. 

     The next day came and after the mundane chores and adult responsibilities, Yvette invited Cane to her apartment so she could cook him a meal. As soon as Cane walked in she jumped into his arms and he graciously spun her around as they laughed. Yvette got down and saw Cane had something in his hand. Cane brought a giant hunk of meat for the dish she was preparing and also brought her some white roses. She happily took the meat and the roses and made her way into the kitchen. "What should I help you with, I don't feel comfortable just waiting around", Cane said as he put on an apron. She began to take out a bowl that was a thick red past that smelled like spices. " Could you please cut the meat into chunks and slather the red past on it", She asked as she handed Cane a knife. They both worked in unison as they prepared the dish. Biria and quesadillas. 

     

     As they were reaching the end of their cooking, Cane looked at Yvette as she was testing the meat for its softness. Yvette caught him staring, "Oh, did I get something on my face", she said as she started to clean herself. Cane only smiled, "No, it's just that... if I could choose to live a single day on repeat forever, I feel like I would choose today and keep on cooking forever with you". Yvette felt her heart flutter as he continued staring. She inched closer nuzzled in his neck, she rested her head on his clavicle as both of their eyes closed and took in the moment. " If I had to choose any moment to relive forever, I would want to choose the moment where you are the happiest", Yvette whispered. 

     The dish was finally ready but Yvette looked a bit disappointed. "I'm sorry if the meat is a little chewy, this dish is usually prepared for around five hours, not three to make the meat as soft as it can be. But, I'm sure it's still good", she said disappointed. But her sad look quickly dissipated the moment she saw Cane hungrily eat it. The spices the cheese, the corn tortillas, the textures all melting in his mouth. who could have guessed that Julian would taste so good? Cane stopped as he felt Yvette stare at him. Yvette burst into laughter as she began to wipe the edges of his mouth. "Then should I assume you like it?", Yvette asked.  Cane just nodded as he continued eating. "Then, I'm glad. Yvette sat and joined in, the first taste being hesitant, but as soon as it hit her tongue she gave in. The meat was not as soft as she wanted, but it was good. They both devoured their meal as if yesterday's events never happened. It was as if it was just the confirmation and the push they both needed for their relationship to come into the light. Cane could never imagine a life without Yvette, and Yvette could never feel at ease if she was not near Cane. They both wanted to explore more, this idea they had in their head, all the while ignoring things that had nothing to do with themselves. All of the nasty people and the feelings that accompanied them would be forgotten. And, when they were together everything would feel like absolute bliss as they forgot the world around them. 

     Months had passed since the incident at the restaurant. Yvette hand was almost healed and Cane was preparing for his date. He was going to take Yvette to a painting class he always wanted to go to, and since she was able to hold small dainty things like a brush now, he felt it was appropriate to take her. He always loved painting, it was one of the few things that brought him joy since childhood and to share it with the person he held most dear was like a dream come true. He passed by Yvette's apartment and saw she was already by the curb. She entered the car and they were on their way. Their hands immediately found each other, and never let go until it was time the exit the car.

     In the painting class, people were placed in pairs. The assignment was to paint your partner with only one color and use white as a highlight. Cane went to work immediately as he already had an image in mind. He used purple and began to depict her as a floating head. Her veins came out from the bottom, the darker hues signifying blood. Her eyes semi-closed to elude to a sleepy feeling. She was covered in flowers outlined by white lines, cages by what was seen as the flower vines entrapping her head. Yvette used hues the same hues of purple upon Cane's request, she painted what could be assumed to be a body, but no head, their arms crossed against their body. surrounded by chaotic swirls it seemed like a body floating in an almost dream-like scene, resting. She then began to draw flowers coming out of the neck and floating alongside the body.

     As the class presented their paintings, everyone began to stare at the couple who drew themselves headless and bodiless. It was off-putting to see next to the full body, smiling and family-oriented portraits. As they all looked at the couple and back at the paintings, you could see pure joy as to how they depicted each other. The man's painting looked as if the head was about to roll out of the canvas and open its eyes like it was about to cry. It was so detailed and thought out, it was as if he had imagined her like this for a long time. The woman's painting was less details but just as creepy. It was like seeing a decapitated body float down the river as the flowers stuck out the neck. 

     The couple left with their painting in hand and decided to go get something to eat within walking distance. "It's your turn, Yvette, what do you want to do", Cane asked enthusiastically. "Yvette thought long and hard and a simple idea came to mind, "Cooking classes that involve desserts sound good, how does that sound?", she asked. He smiled, "Sounds good to me".
