Raj was on his bed when he was busy reading the ending of his book where the murderer was about to get disclosed in the thriller that he had been reading for the last eight days when his phone that was lying on the table started to ring.
Raj was not expecting anyone’s call at such strange hours. It was around midnight, and it was an unacceptable time for any call until and unless there was an emergency.
He kept his book aside and picked up the call instantly when he read the caller ID’s name.
“Hello. Raj, I need you right now at my home. There’s something that I need to tell you, and I can’t wait for the morning.”
It was Krit on the other side. He was panicked. There was urgency in his voice that made Raj Bhasin stand from his bed instantly, and he grabbed the handle of the almirah to change his clothes while replying.
“I am coming right away.”
He kept the phone down and rushed to change his clothes. He then picked up his car keys and was ready to move to Krit’s house in just a few minutes. Krit had never called Raj in such a manner. It must be very urgent.
Throughout the journey, Raj kept thinking about what could be so urgent, but nothing came to mind. As the roads were empty and the weather was cold, it was all empty; hence he managed to keep his car’s speed high and reached Krit’s house in just 20 minutes.
He parked the car and rushed towards the main entrance of the house. There were no security guards anywhere. Krit never liked to have any of them. He entered the main door and found the home completely engulfed in darkness.
“Krit?” Raj took his name while standing at the door. No one replied.
Raj looked at the left side of the house and found some light coming from the drawing room. He decided to move toward the left. As he reached the drawing room, his eyes fell on Krit sitting on his favorite couch in front of the television. It was his favorite place in his own house.
Raj then moved casually and sat next to Krit on the couch.
“What happened, Krit?” Raj finally asked.
But there came no reply. Raj then looked closely at Krit and felt the shock of his life. A knife was in Krit’s abdomen, and the bloodstream was pouring out. Raj fell to his knees and took Krit in his arms to shake him.
“Krit? Krit?”
Raj was unable to think. He had no idea what to do. His eyes fell on the table beside the couch. There were two glasses on it and a bottle of alcohol.
Raj was sweating heavily. He moved to and fro in front of Krit’s body, trying to figure out what he should do now. Raj again fell to his knees to check the pulse of Krit. Maybe, there was something left that could save him. When Raj was busy examining the body of Krit, Aisha, the caretaker of Krit, came into the drawing room, and when she saw the scene, she screamed and panicked.

Soon the whole house of Krit was filled with Police officers. Some were clicking photos of the crime scene while others were doing forensics, and the remaining were busy collecting the evidence from every room nook.
Raj and Aisha were standing at one corner of the room and looking at the police procedure keenly while feeling nervous about what would happen. Then came one of the officers and approached them both.
“Mr. Raj and Ms. Aisha, you both need to come with me to the Police station for further investigation on the case.”
“Are we under arrest, officer?” Raj asked.
“Not now, but if you deny coming with us, things can change for you,” Officer said coldly and moved towards his jeep. Raj and Aisha followed. They both had no idea what they should do now. The only thing they could do was to go with the flow. Raj knew one thing; he needed a lawyer. He called his lawyer Mr. Allen to the police station.
