Honestly, questions like that are just... Icky. Real relationships, most of the time, don't have designated roles. It's heteronormative and just gross,, sure, preferences exist, but most couples are switches. The BL genre is just catered towards women, so tropes tend to have set roles to make women feel more engaged.
