The hours go by and soon turn into weeks. No sign of the mysterious woman waking up. Every evening, a tall man with shaggy black hair visited the woman. His wide palm placed on her forehead. A small wave of white energy glowed from his hand and traveled along the woman's body. Casitas stayed seated by the couch facing away from them and kept his emotions private. The man stopped and exhaled loudly.
“Is she awake yet Avan?” Casitas asked.
“You ask me that every time and I keep saying no,” said the man. He stood up and approached his brother.
“You normally don’t take this long to heal someone.”
“Well, this is my first time healing someone who isn’t a Xyiiux,” he said. “You cannot expect me to have results right away.”
“I am sorry brother,” Casitas exhaled. “I shouldn’t ask you to do this.”
Avan sat down next to his brother. Even with an emotionless face, he could read his brother so easily.
“She is quite cute isn’t she?” Avan teased.
Casitas coldly turned to his brother and presented a terrifying anger on his face, making Avan change the subject immediately.
“Can I ask, why bother helping her?” he asked. “You could have easily just let her die out there.”
“She is a Baellon and I need to know why she came all this way,” Casitas explained. He uncrossed his arms and exhaled loudly.
Avan had a puzzled look on his face. “That is strange she came all this way. If I remember correctly, the Baellon kingdom is near the otherside of the world and you can see the sun there.”
“The thought of feeling that heat sounds horrible,” said Casitas.
“Maybe the reason it is taking me a while to heal her is that her body isn’t used to this climate and she is constantly cold.”
Casitas and Avan turned their heads to gaze at the woman. She was still asleep but her body was shivering even though she had layers of blankets and pelts on top of her.
“That could be the case. Right now, I hate having this fireplace constantly heating up my bedroom,” Casitas remained troubled in thought. “What if we give her a bath?”
“I can get the maids to draw one,” Avan said as he got up from his seat. “And you should carry her to the bath.”
“Why me?”
“She is your guest, isn’t she?” Avan teased as he left the room.
Once the doors were closed, Casitas looked over at the woman once again. Thinking about seeing her golden eyes, he felt a pain in his heart once again. He clenched his hand on his chest and tried to block out the feelings overwhelming him right now.
Casitas stood next to the woman. Her breathing was shaky and her lips were turning blue even when laying next to a fireplace. The heat was unsettling for Casitas but showed no effect for the woman. Carefully, he picked her up in his arms. Immediately the woman cradled herself close to him again. Faintly, she could hear his heart pounding rapidly as her face pressed against his chest. Still too weak to open her eyes, only struggling to stay warm.
As Casitas carried her through the castle to the bath, his knights and servants bowed and greeted at his presence. Still, he did not acknowledge any of them. His mind was focused on her. Running through his mind were all the possibilities of why a Baellon would travel to a place that would be killing them.
Upon arriving, inside the room were wall size windows showing the world on the other side. In the center of the room was a pile of smooth purple stones hollowed into a curve making a round bath. A small fountain on the other side poured clean water into the bath that let out a soothing steam of freshwater and sweet salt dissolving. There were rich green and yellow flowers floating in the water. The steam was overwhelmingly hot for Casitas so he was struggling to focus.
“Cas!” shouted a voice. It was Avan on the other side of the bath. He stood there wearing matching face cloth and cover over his face along with three female assistants next to him. “Hurry and put her in. This heat is unbearable!”
Casitas walked over to the steps leading into the water. Doing so, he paused and felt the heat overwhelm him.
“So, I just put her in here? How can I do that without the water touching me?” he asked.
“The water is only hot, it isn’t dangerous. I put in healing crystals and herbs to speed up the process. If you are worried, you can just get in with her.”
“Why would I do that!? It's boiling hot in there!”
“Someone has to make sure she doesn’t drown in there and you are the Lord of the land,” Avan teased. “Also, I am not getting in there. I have too much to live for.”
Avan escorted himself and his assistance out of the bath, leaving Casitas and the woman alone.
Having a moment alone, Casitas wondered about getting into the water and contemplated changing clothes. Completely frustrated he just changed down to his basic tunic underneath his royal clothing and felt uncomfortable right away. Still, he noticed he felt overheated with less clothing on.
Casitas picked up the woman again and inhaled deeply when looking at the bath. The steam was fogging the windows, and the bubbles in the water were slowly fading away. He boldly took a step down into the bath and the heat sensation attacked his body. Never had he felt such a heat touching his body, it was very uncomfortable but still he continued on. He kept talking more steps until he was at the ground floor, having his water reach up to his waist. Casitas carefully placed the woman in the bath, feeling the burning sensation touching his hands and forearms. He grit his teeth tightly, trying to hide the pain but still held onto the woman. Slowly, he pulled his hands away and without thinking he held onto her again.
The woman's body heat rapidly increased. Her blue lips were quickly fading back to her normal color. As her body changed, Casitas couldn’t help but to keep staring at her face. Her skin was a rich melanin color with not a single flaw to be seen. Her hair, curled cutely in the water. Moments of when he found her flashed through his mind. Her dress, how she was on the brink of death, especially her eyes. The thought of her golden eyes kept creeping into his mind since he found her.
A long time had passed and the woman showed no signs of reviving. Still, the heat was getting to Casitas and making him nauseous. His arms carefully let go of the woman as he struggled to find the staircase out of the tub.
Little did he know, behind his back the woman was slowly becoming submerged in the water. Unable to move or to breath, the woman still remained unresponsive. Still, she could hear the faint sounds of the water splashing in the bath, her heartbeat slowing down with every second.
Before realizing it, memories triggered into her mind. Like a flash of lightning images appeared. They appeared hazy but caused her heart to start beating uncontrollably fast. She could hear her heart as the images appeared in her mind. She remembered a bouquet of blue roses, a wildfire surrounding her. Then lastly the look of purple eyes staring at her. It reminded her of another pair of eyes the exact same color from her past.
Suddenly, her eyes opened! Struggling to breathe, she found herself deep underwater. With all of her might, she surfaced herself quickly gasping for air! Casitas immediately turned around and saw the back of the girl standing up and coughing up water. Her eyes tried to regain focus as she tried to stand; but that instant, her tired body was about to collapse on itself. Casitas hurried back into the water and almost fainted from the heat as well. He managed to clutch onto the woman's waist as the two fell down together.
When gaining focus, the two of them locked eyes with one another. The woman managed to be seated under the water and rose to her shoulders as Casitas had both of his arms on either side of the woman. His palms pressed against the baths walls, as though trapping the woman. Her arms held around her body as they remained silent. Now, they had a chance to see each other's eyes properly.
Casitas couldn’t see his reflection in her eyes. It was as though they were made of solid gold. The feeling in his chest started again, but this time it was louder. Seeing her eyes more clearly, seeing they were gold was proof that she was from the Baellon clan. Completely unaware of what to do, he completely froze. His mindset of being cruel to a Baellon completely vanished.
She remained silent as well. Not sure how to handle facing a muscular man who had her pinned down in an unfamiliar environment. She was too in shock to move, but felt her stomach tense up. The deeper she looked into his purple eyes, she tried to speak but her voice wouldn't come out. The moment she looked away only to make her face change from normal to an embarrassing shade of pink. Before he could speak to her, she abruptly yelled. “Where are your clothes!?”
