Wesley tells Lyra that the medicine the nurse carried to her dad’s room had domoic acid, which causes memory loss and joint pain, then Lyra was shocked “a-are you sure?” she asked, “I’m positive I had to do research on it when my dad was sick,” Wesley said while looking at Lyra. Her face was so sad and confused, he felt bad that he made her feel this way, “thank you” she said as she grabbed Wesley’s hands, Wesley could barely function he was fighting every urge in his body to not scoop her up and hug her, “your welcome, I’m sorry  I’m not sure what’s happening but I’ll go ask a doctor and see what’s up,” Wesley said “ok, I’ll let my mom know” Lyra said with a sadness in her voice, “ok, will you be alright, do you want me to come with you?” Wesley said “no I’ll be fine” Lyra said, Wesley thought to himself he knew she wasn’t fine, Lyra was so considerate that she wouldn’t want to burden anyone with her feelings and problems, he could understand because he did the same thing, then he went to talk to Dr. Smith “hi I found out that the medicine I saw had domoic acid in it and I was wondering what happened there?” Wesley said, Then Dr. Smith got nervous and started to sweat, Wesley noticed but he didn’t say much, “oh my gosh!? I will look into that , and make sure that he gets the best medicine for him, then Wesley looked at him and knew that something was up but didn’t say anything “ok thank you very much” Wesley said to Dr. Smith, “of course” he said as he walked away hurriedly, then as Wesley was walking back his mom called him “hi sweetie I’m at your apartment and I couldn’t help but notice that your not home, is everything ok?” hi mom asked, “not really, do you remember the girl I told you about, Lyra?” Wesley said, “yea?” his mom said “well due to family problems she had to go to the hospital and can’t leave yet since her dad is in the hospital” Wesley explained, “oh no, poor baby” her mom said, “yea, so I’m going to stay with her and if you are at my place just stay there it’s getting pretty late” Wesley said, “tell her I said hi and I hope her dad is ok” his mom stated, “Thanks mom stay safe” Wesley said before saying bye to his mom and hanging up the phone. Then he met up with Lyra “hey did you tell your mom is everything ok?” Lyra was out of it “oh yea I did she was really shocked and started crying and hoping that this was just a mix up” Lyra said, “and Dr. Smith and her are talking right now, but he said it was a misunderstanding and that the nurse accidentally grabbed the wrong medicine bottle” Lyra said, then Wesley wondered how could a trained professional make such a mistake like that and what hospital has a poisonous medicine so close to the regular medicines “ok well that good right?” Wesley said, “I don’t know, when I told my mom it was like she had to force herself to be shocked and why would the doctor want to talk to my mom and not me too? It’s my dad” Lyra said, then she started crying “I can’t believe he almost took poison” she cried, Wesley’s heart felt like it was shattering in a million pieces he couldn’t deal with her crying, then she looked up at him and Wesley was trying not to immediately comfort her, then she hugged him and at first he was shocked and then he hugged her back and squeezed tightly, he could feel her body press against his and her hair in his face he could smell the cherry blossom flavor, she kept crying and he wasn’t going to let go of her until she stopped. Then Lyra’s mom called her in the room, and Lyra slowly let go of Wesley even though he wasn’t ready to let her go, he did. “Thank you really for everything” Lyra said, Wesley wiped her tears and patted her head “whenever you need me, I’ll be here”, then Lyra went in the room with her mom and Dr. Smith, and Wesley’s heart was beating as loud as possible and he left to go get Lyra and her mom some food and he came back and gave Lyra and her mom the food he bought, Lyra smiled at him and his heart danced “I don’t know how I can repay you” Lyra said, then Wesley smiled “seeing you smile is the best reward I can get”. Then he watches her leave, and he starts to eat his food.
