He looked like he was boiling with anger.
Li Woo-Jin was actually mad.
He looked like he would actually hurt him.
”Hey stop it’s fine”
I tried to pull his arm down,
And get him to let go.
His eyes were filled with just pure rage.
“That annoying girl’s married?!
That why she wouldn’t ever shut up!
Was she talking to you?!”
That guy wasn’t backing down;
A Mistake.
“Maybe, maybe not”
He looked even angrier;
I heard my neighbor wince in pain,
and try to pull his arm away, but then he realized…
He can’t.
Then his eyes shifted to fear.
The fear when you realize you’ve met someone,
Who you should not have messed with.
“Side-note,
Did you know that most crimes go unreported?”
He was actually going to hurt this man;
I had to stop him.
“Please, STOP!”
I yelled,
as I jumped
putting my body on his arm to drag it down.
My neighbor used this as an opportunity to run away,
As soon as he loosened his grip.
Then it was just us,
And all I could think was to hug him;
Like he did to me when I was about to give up on my dream.
I looked up at him.
Was he mad at me?
He looked down at me.
“Sorry.”
He said softly,
As he hugged me back.
“Don’t do that ever again okay?
You scared me…”
I said hugging him tighter.
“Sorry, old habits.”
“Alright.”
We just stayed like that for a bit;
It was comforting.
Still…
What did he mean by “Old habits”
What kind of…
Did she make him-
No then she would’ve expected him to win,
Or done something to prepare,
But then again those guys were…
5 I think?
Even if you are good at fighting;
A 1v5 is a pretty bad match-up.
Eventually we both let go of each other,
And went inside my home.
The fire hadn’t really burned anything;
Since the firemen arrived quickly.
Maybe he had expected it,
And called ahead of time.
Maybe my neighbor was faking his anger;
Because he wanted the insurance money.
The firemen left bec-
He was so going to try to sue us.
We both walked back into the old Semi-Basement,
Which had been torn apart.
Not by the fire,
But by us shoving so many papers into my purse and backpack.
I had three pieces of furniture:
A bed that was just big enough for me,
A shelf that got knocked over a few hours ago,
while we were rushing to get all the papers,
And lastly a fold-able blue chair.
That chair was one I had when I was 5.
It was the chair I sat in,
When I thought everyone got to take home their chair
after the performance.
I thought they put them on these racks to deliver them to our homes.
My mom tried to take the chair I was struggling to hold.
I said
“It’s fine I can take it home myself”
Trying to be a good kid,
But it was honestly my most embarrassing moment.
The person,
who managed the everything was fine with it though.
Probably because I was a kid,
But it was nice.
I was also confused why my parents didn’t get their own chair.
They lied and said they donated theirs.
I believed them until I was 14!
When I casually mentioned to Brad:
”Why don’t you just take a chair;
They give you them after every recital”
He then explained how they don’t do that.
That I was wrong.
Then I got really mad at my parents,
And their defence was that I was cute.
“This chair’s like one of the ones from a recital”
“Yeah-”
Wait how did he know that.
It could just be a cheap chair I bought.
How did h-
“They give you a free chair for being cute?”
He said smiling.
That was cheesy.
He probably had no idea how right he was though.
“Yeah.”
I chuckled.
“Can you help me dismantle your bed now?”
He asked;
Crouched next to my bed.
“What?”
”We have to dismantle the parts otherwise it won’t fit”
He explained,
But he was definitely not doing it all in one trip either way.
“What do I do?”
I crouched next to him.
“You do the most important job
…
Holding this flashlight”
He pulled out a flashlight,
That he probably grabbed with the Wheelbarrow.
“What? Are you s-”
“It’s really important. Trust me.”
This felt a bit annoying.
I wasn’t a child; I could help!
I-
“No over there’
He readjusted the flashlight.
Okay, maybe this was good enough.
I mean without me he can’t see-
Then he stops and lets go of the bed,
And I see some of the pieces of my bed collapse.
“Alright, now you can go,
just throw some of these pieces in the pile
At the front door”
He pointed without even looking.
“Okay.”
I said sadly.
I walked outside to get some fresh air,
And that was when I realized the smoke wasn’t from here:
it might be like a 15 minute walk down.
It might just be a chimney, a really big campfire,
Or it could’ve been an actual fire,
Which was why the firemen left quickly,
And why my neighbor was so mad.
Imagine planning to get insurance money by setting a fire,
And planning for months,
But there happens to just be a much larger fire
slightly further away,
So yours seems like nothing in comparison.
He was probably filing a report on us now,
So we should probably hurry though.
Unless, he has some secondary power from being
the “CEO” Of Lition.
He had already been quietly dismantling pieces of my bed,
And shelf.
He passed them to me,
As I went to put them in the Wheelbarrow.
This happened a couple times until eventually we were done,
And all we had left to carry was…
The Mattress.
“So you can carry the chair”
He placed the chair already folded in both of my hands,
As he tried to carry the mattress himself
Through the door.
I quickly dropped the chair,
And helped him as we lifted it on top of everything else.
Then he took the Wheelbarrow,
and slowly began pushing it back to his apartment.
I grabbed the chair, and the Kimchi
I remembered to bring this time.
You never realize how few ramps there are in places like
Subways, Apartments,
and the random stairs to go up;
because there was a hill
and no one thought to install a ramp on the hill.
Sorry I’m getting a bit mad over nothing;
Since we just had to walk to the next station.
We could’ve taken the Elevator,
But the elevator for my station had broken down,
So the long journey began.
“So, why’d you get the Kimchi?”
Random question;
He probably just liked it.
“I liked it.”
Yeah, what I expected
he just likes Kimchi.
“So how long are we going to be together?”
“Like, I’d say indefinitely”
“Wait what?!”
“Yeah, my parents really want me to marry her,
So like maybe forever”
”You sa-”
“That was before she got your DNA,
And your fingerprints;
Because you didn’t think”
He let go of one of the handles to poke me on the forehead.
That caused the wheelbarrow
to almost fall onto one side,
And him to yell random noises.
I laughed, and then he looked at me
And laughed.
That was nice.
We quickly arrived at the station in the Shopping District,
Which should’ve taken a while,
But chatting made it pass by much quicker.
Then we got to the front desk
And rode the elevator to the 11th floor.
The whole time people were staring,
But strangely, for the first time;
it didn’t seem to bother me.
He drove the Wheelbarrow right outside the door;
Before stopping it.
He and I began taking off the Mattress,
Then all the wooden piece,
And the finally the chair I set up next to the couch.
Somehow, the chair was more comfortable.
He went back to put the Wheelbarrow and all the tools away;
While I came up with the idea to surprise him.
What if I set up the food already?
That’ll be nice,
and maybe he won’t even be mad I’m making him sleep on the floor.
He returned quickly;
Since the storage lockers were really close by.
Though I was faster,
I had already opened the Kimchi
and set it on the Kitchen counter
Ready to surprise him.
He just stared at me dumbfounded.
“Look I already got the food ready.”
I smiled pulling him in.
“Uh I already ate,”
He blurted out, while pulling my hand down;
Trying to get me to let go.
“Don’t lie to me;
If you don’t trust what I prepared.”
“No I-”
“Did you poison it like the creepy rich people I read ab-”
“Fine I’ll eat it.”
“Yay!”
I wonder if he was gonna like it.
“Can I do it later?”
“Now!”
I was being very generous.
He wanted the food,
And I prepared it for him, so he could eat it
as soon as he got home.
He should be grateful.
Also hopefully he thinks I’m nice;
Because I really want him to sleep on the couch now.
Or maybe I can move him down to the chair…
He took a bite of the Kimchi and
…
His face turned red.
“Hot!”
He began coughing on the floor uncontrollably.
Then he managed to gasp enough air to
Say to me
”Milk”
I opened the fridge,
And luckily there was milk.
He drank half the jug,
But that just confused me more…
“Sorry, I can’t eat Spicy things,”
He said,
as he wiped the milk that had gotten on his face.
Then I remembered what he said a few minutes ago,
When we were walking back
“So, why’d you get the Kimchi?” I asked.
“I liked it.” He responded.
This was so confusing and scary from so many contradictory moments,
That I had to get to the bottom of this.
I couldn’t ignore it anymore;
How suspicious he was.
So I blurted out:
“Who are you?”
