“Hey!” Sol said as he felt someone push past him in the school hallway.
The boy who had pushed him just looked back, snarled, and then turned around.
Angered, Sol made to call out to the boy again and get a reason why he was shoved. The omega wasn’t afraid to stand up for himself. Before he could though, Bo grabbed him by the arm.
“Stop.”
Not explaining his reasoning, Bo shot him with a fierce look and then proceeded to walk away.
“What’s with him?” Sol looked to Carter to explain.
Carter shrugged and quickly followed Bo, not giving Sol a real answer.
A little miffed, Sol had to run to catch up with the other two. He wasn’t going to push Bo to explain it to him, as he already knew that he was feeling anxious, but he still felt as though he deserved an explanation. It was understandable that he didn’t want to make a scene and yet Sol felt hurt that Bo didn’t defend him after getting pushed.
“What are boyfriends for if not to defend and support you in your times of need?” Sol whispered to himself.
Going through the day in slow motion, Sol just didn’t feel the same excitement as he did that morning before the incident. He was surprised though to see that Connor was in one of his classes, taking up a seat beside him. At least that made him feel a little better.
Ready to go home finally, Sol was only going to quickly say goodbye to Bo and Carter and then leave.
When he spotted them both, he excitedly waved them over and went to kiss Bo on the cheek.
Sol was quickly pushed off by Bo before he even had the time to think. Shocked, he still couldn’t believe it and made to kiss him again, thinking that Bo just saw a bug.
“You know we can’t do that in public,” Bo told Sol, softly pushing him away again.
“Oh,” Sol was silently screaming in his head. How embarrassing to be refused by his own boyfriend in front of Carter! He peeked over and saw that Carter was still staring at them, nonchalance on his face, and yet Sol could tell that he felt awkward to be standing there.
He knew that Bo was scared about them showing affection in public, and yet Sol still felt as though the other omega was being too cruel. His hopes that their relationship would be the same while in school was run over by a truck. There was barely anyone around! A quick kiss on the cheek would show nothing. Omegas were known as naturally affectionate. They could always use that as an excuse.
It wasn’t a new feeling to him, anger about the circumstances of their relationship, and it didn’t stop him from huffing a little when Bo turned back to Carter, talking about trivial things.
Bo wasn’t always so strict. The small town they were in last summer had barely anyone around. Being able to freely love eachother meant that they didn’t have to worry about little things like holding hands. Sol guessed that he just got too used to it, and that’s why he went to kiss Bo.
Coming back into focus when he registered that both Carter and Bo were staring at him, Sol looked at them, confused. “Did I miss something?”
Carter squinted at him and then rolled his eyes like he knew that Sol couldn’t help himself from zoning out.
“Yes, I was asking whether you wanted to come to my place to hang out with Bo and I,” Carter responded.
“Oh, okay” Sol had to fix his relationship somehow. If it meant dragging himself through a couple extra hours of playing games, he would.
“Come quick,” Bo stated, not even looking at Sol. He moved towards Carter’s car, going on before the other two could catch up.
Just as they got into the car and Carter started up the engine, Sol suddenly realized that he had left his phone charger at his house. Too flustered to think about the fact that he could just borrow one from Carter, he hopped out of the car, mumbled about missing something to the others, and then ran off.
Taking the shortcut would be the most appropriate option for the scenario, and yet Sol went the long route through the forest instead. It wasn’t intentional, but Sol found himself grateful for his decision as he realized that he needed some time to think to himself about the situation.
