Bo stayed silent the entire drive to Carter’s house.
He knew he had hurt Sol by pushing him away, but he thought that Sol would have been smarter than that. To expose themselves as a couple would be social suicide. There was a reason he was nervous about it, but he never told Sol that. He still thought to himself that it should be obvious why though, so Bo figured that Sol could just respect his boundaries.
Apparently not, as he still attempted to kiss him in public. And yes, there was barely anyone around, but he stuck by that you can never be too careful.
As Bo attempted to clear his thoughts, he tripped over himself getting into Carter’s house. He hadn’t even realized that they arrived.
Carter, who has had to deal with Bo’s intense thinking mode before, calmly set up the video game on his game set.
“I’m so tired,” Bo complained. The school day had been hell. He didn’t have a single class with Carter or Sol, so he had to completely rely on his speaking skills to make it through the day. That was not something he was particularly apt at.
“Why?” Carter, having always had an easy time in school, was unable to understand his perspective. As an extrovert, Carter never had to worry about social situations. It was astonishing that they had been able to remind friends all this time as they were just so different.
The omega went on to immediately explain all the things that he hated about the day. “-and now there’s tension between me and Sol” he ended, feeling a mixture of anger and melancholy about the situation.
“You shouldn’t let him make you feel guilty about that. It wasn’t your fault that he was too pushy,” Carter harshly pointed out. Of course he was going to be on Bo’s side, having never fully connected with Sol enough to understand his side.
Bo had realized earlier that Sol could be rash, but he hadn’t expected him to be so stricken that Bo had rejected his advancements. What was he thinking, trying to kiss him out in public?
“I need to explain to him what happened before. Maybe that will make him realize why I’m so scared to get caught.” Bo had had far too much experience with being socially isolated due to who he was.
“Are you sure? Wouldn’t telling him just unnecessarily expose your trauma?”
“What part about me doesn’t already expose my trauma? I’m an anxious wreck.” An anxious wreck indeed. He wasn’t even able to say his name out loud when introducing himself at school.
Carter quieted at that.
“Maybe you should just break up with him.”
“Pardon? What did you just say?” Bo couldn’t believe what he heard.
“Just kidding.” Carter held up his arms in defeat.
“No, I’ve heard enough about how you’re so against omegas together from before. You’re serious.” When Bo first told Carter that he was dating Sol, it was a big problem. He had never really registered that Carter never got over it.
With Carter saying nothing back, it was silently confirmed.
“Oh my God.” Bo just stood there in shock. He knew he shouldn’t be surprised that Carter brought it up again and yet there he was.
“I thought we were over this!” Bo became progressively angrier and angrier. Stopping himself before he could say something he didn’t mean, he made to leave.
“I can’t deal with this right now.” He said, looking back at Carter for just a moment to see his expression of anger.
