Kazia sat, sipping her tea as the priests began to explain the plan for her rise to the throne. She had much to learn, and quickly, before she could claim the throne.
“So first you will be called Princess Kazimiera then upon ascension, you will be referred to as Qu-”
“King”
“King, right sorry. King Kazimiera. Once this happens, you will have all the rights and powers that those before you held.” Kazia nodded, studying the room around her.
“You know that a lot of people will argue this. So, why are you all so relaxed about a woman taking the throne?” The head priest smiled.
“Simple. It is the will of Pandievas. Who are we to argue His will?” Kazia nodded, sitting as primly as her etiquette teacher pounded into her head to sit.
“May I have a hand in planning out my schedule for my days?” The head priest nodded. Kazia knew she would face flack but these five priests around her had her best interest at heart, she hoped.
“Certainly Lady Kazimiera. We will also assign you a personal priest, just as previous kings before you had. In fact, we had a volunteer who is about your age. A young priest in training” A young priest stepped forward, very handsome in the face. He had long pale blonde hair braided down his back and was a towering figure. Very politely he bowed before his new ruler.
“Greetings Your Highness, I am Anatol Hunyadi. I look forward to growing alongside you.” Kazia nodded.
“Pleased to meet you Priest Hunyadi.” Anatol smiled.
“Pleasure’s mine. I am excited to see how you grow as the nation’s first female King. I believe that Pandievas will grant you extraordinary blessings.” Kazia looked to the Head Priest.
“So if I am correct, I will need crash courses in political sciences, the history of this fine nation, swordsmanship, the arts of war, humanities, and statecraft, and other minor subjects. So let us plan out the days each lesson is to take place quickly before I have to face any nobles who are displeased with my new ascension to the throne.” Anatol stared at her for a moment before laughing. Everyone turned to face him, confused.
“I apologize. I do not mean to laugh at the future King but the matter-of-fact way she takes care of everything and states what she has on her mind is refreshing. She may have to learn how to speak nicer to keep the peace among the nobles, she isn’t one to mince words.” Kazia stared blankly, watching the other priests join in on the laughter. Quietly Kazia stood.
“I should go and face the nobles waiting.” She walked out of the room and into a large meeting hall. She quietly grabbed one of the servants.
“Gather all those who have issues to air at me. I will be waiting here.”
