Chapter 4 Part 1

We awake once more. We are, once again, laying on a floor. However, this time it is padded in a soft material… carpet… yes, that is what these memories tell us it’s called. Now that we know accessing memories is a possibility, this will be easier. Now, let us move from this position. As we attempt to stand, we’re pulled back. Realizing we are wrapped to something that tightens as we pull away. The lighting object… ceiling fan… is no longer attached. We are tied to it by our head connector… neck.

I see. This mortal successfully followed the rule. However, this is contradictory to the study we are conducting. Perhaps there are memories in which to explain why this mortal attempted to do this. Hmm… it appears there is nothing. This mortal is female of a younger age… 15 years since birth. They had many friends and even a romantic interest. Would these not be things to fight the rule for? There may be something the memories are suppressing from us. Something so rejected that we cannot easily access them.

We detach ourselves from the ceiling fan. We stand up and inspect our surroundings. Yes, this room is much different from the ones we have previously been in. This one is also bright, however, it is much more colorful than the previous ones. The color… pink… appear to be this mortal’s most desired color. The linens on the sleeping station… bed… are of this color, as are the linens… curtains… over the windows, and the carpet as well. This location feels as though it is… was… a safe space. There is a large reflective object on the wall. Let us peer into it to understand our look more.

As we gaze into the mirror, we see that we are of similar shape as Ms. Amanda was. This must be a more common design of the female figure. Our head is covered in this long, flowing substance… hair… yellow in color. We have some black substance that has dried on our face. It appears to have drained from our eyes… makeup… decorative coloring to enhance ones outward appearance. There appears to be a mark around our neck. We don’t believe others will accept this. We must hide it.

There appears… to be another mark as well. As though some kind of suction mark. There is no memory of this one. It may be best to hide that as well. Let us use this memory to understand how to apply makeup so that we may hide these markings. As we turn, we notice the time device on the stand next to the bed. 3:43 A.M. According to our memory, this is much earlier than we are used to awakening. That must explain why we are wearing this loose, sleeping attire. They appear to be stretched. Perhaps intentional for a better fit? This also is not in our memory.

Either way, being awake at such a time will allow us to master applying makeup and make it to this place of education that these memories tell me we must go to… school… yes, school. We must learn how mortal youth interact with each other. This will offer insight of when youth learns of the importance of life. Perhaps this mortal just has not made that discovery yet. I suppose we shall see.

Death knows itself and the rule it controls. All that lives must one day die. However, for the first time in their existence, Death questions why living things strive to continue when deep in their minds, they understand that all must eventually succumb to the rule. What makes them want to fight so hard to live? There must be something that keeps them from seeking the inevitable end.

Death speaks to the creator to ask for advice but still doesn't understand the creator's reasoning. Therefore, the creator allows for Death to experience life, sending them into the bodies of recently deceased people, and allowing them to find their own answers to their questions until the rule claims the deceased once more.
