“Damn it!” Carter shouted.
He slammed his hands on the sides of the sink and growled in frustration. He had just about missed Bo.
Damn, that principal who had stopped him just as he reached Bo. He knew Bo was hiding in one of the stalls because he saw his trainers.
“Hello?” Carter heard. He looked to the door and saw the boy who had pushed Sol the day before.
“Are you good?” The boy raised his eyebrows in questioning. Clearly not looking particularly worried but rather weirded out, the boy slowly made his way to one of the stalls.
Not responding, Carter just looked at him through the mirror sporting a face that said ‘Do I look like I want your opinion?’.
“Okay. So you’ve got something up your ass. Don’t we all? Doesn’t mean you need to look so pissed off.”
“What?” Carter was astounded. What in the actual hell did this guy just say?
Completely forgetting about why he was mad, Carter moved away from the sink and fully turned to the boy.
“I’m just saying.”
Carter couldn’t help himself from laughing. Holding his stomach, he struggled to keep himself standing and fell to his knees. Feeling a digging pain in his stomach from not getting enough oxygen, he made to wheeze out: “What are you even saying?” and then was unable to finish due to his laughter igniting again.
The other boy started to burst out laughing as well from what he said.
“I don’t even know.” The boy said once he finally regained some semblance of calm.
He reached out a hand to help Carter up from the floor and introduced himself.
“I’m uh Aaron. Sorry I said that. Couldn’t help myself.”
“No. It’s fine. It was funny. Made me forget about what made me mad in the first place anyway.” Carter was allowed a brief moment of relaxation before he remembered about Bo.
Wincing, he thanked Aaron and walked out the washroom doors. He was trying to get away from the awkwardness of not knowing what to say. Surprisingly though, the whole situation really calmed him down. Maybe laughter really was the best medicine.
It wasn’t until he went to his next class that he realized something and regretted not having Bo around.
Being a transfer student, he didn’t have access to any of the existing friend groups in the class and when people noticed that he wouldn’t really respond to them when they tried to talk to him, they ended up leaving him alone. He wasn’t upset about it, but he wasn’t necessarily happy that there was nothing to distract himself within the class. Usually, he would end up texting with Bo, but now that wasn’t exactly an option.
Having finished the class with minimal participation, only a little to keep up his status of honour student, he went on to his next class. There was a problem though. He shared the next class with Sol.
Unprepared for the possible consequences of ignoring Sol yesterday, he stepped through the classroom entryway and went to the front of the class. Thankfully, Sol wasn’t there yet. Hopefully, he would show up just before the bell so he wouldn’t have to talk to him.
Granting his wish, Sol showed up late and barely passed through the doorway before the bell rang. Rushing to a seat at the back of the class, he was only able to glance at Carter from a distance.
Although fate was seemingly agreeable to Carter at the start of the class, his luck ran out by the end. The teacher assigned a semester-long project and paired the class into groups. Unfortunately, Carter found himself in a group with Sol, but also surprisingly Aaron.
As Sol was about to talk to Carter, he stopped himself when he noticed Aaron and immediately began to berate the boy on why he was in their class.
“I just had to switch classes, okay?” Aaron angrily shot back, quieting the classroom with his loud voice. As everyone turned around to stare, Carter found himself rolling his eyes at the scene. It was just like Sol to push someone’s buttons without realizing it until they became angry.
Eventually, when everyone turned back to their seats, he looked back up and found Sol glaring at the other beta. Carter was just thankful that the omega hadn’t turned his hateful glare towards him. He was unsure how Sol would react to being ignored, and he didn’t really want to find out, as he knew the omega could be emotional.
Having put up with their arguing for too long, Carter took control of the situation and told the other two that they would have to meet up somewhere to sort out the project. Quickly getting their phone numbers, he dipped out of the room at the bell so as to not get in the middle of yet another one of their fights.
