“I can’t believe you’d say that!” Sol screamed in exasperation.
Carter quickly glanced towards Bo, silently asking him why he would say that to Sol.
Bo stared straight back at him, weirdly sober. It wasn’t that Bo wanted to invoke Sol’s wrath on Carter, but rather that he didn’t have the inhibition to stop himself from saying those words out loud. He was surprised at himself. That definitely woke him up from his lull.
“It was a joke!” Carter rolled his eyes and remained calm, showing little hesitation when speaking.
Bo knew Carter wasn’t joking, but didn’t intend to make them fight anymore than they already were.
“How am I supposed to take that? Why would you even joke about it?” Sol was up in arms.
“Like any normal person would. You’re overreacting.” Yet again, Carter rolled his eyes and scowled at Sol.
“Oh, so now you’re saying I’m not normal.” Sol was quick to spit back.
“Maybe you aren’t. Two omegas in a relationship is a little strange.” It was Carter’s statement that triggered something in Sol.
“You really think that? That our relationship apparently isn’t good enough for your standards?” Shrieking in rage, Sol stood up and began to pace, unable to contain his seething and restlessness.
Bo figured that Sol would understand how Carter would come to that point of view: he was a privileged beta. It was unlikely that he would ever have to deal with the prejudice imposed on omegas. But, in the moment, Sol would be too emotional to recognize that. That was part of the reason why Bo hadn’t told Sol about their fight earlier.
Sol stopped pacing. Turning back to Carter, he sported a nasty look upon his face. Something like he knew Carter’s deepest, darkest secret.
“Yeah right. I think you’re just jealous.” He said.
“What do you mean?” Carter had no idea what he was talking about.
“I think that you just want to be the one dating Bo.”
Carter was stunned speechless.
“I’ve seen you looking at him. You’re in love.” Sol looked away and clutched his chest when he said it, as if he had been hurt internally.
About to adamantly deny the accusation, Carter stood up to shout until he by chance looked over at Bo and saw him pass out.
Bo was just pretending, but he was sick and tired of their fighting. It was getting to the point that they were telling lies to eachother for goodness sake. Sol shouldn’t have said that. He was just unnecessarily attacking Carter for something Carter could never be. I mean, how could Carter ever be in love with him? That was impossible.
Aaron, who somehow remained completely quiet throughout the fight finally sprung into action. Grabbing Bo by the arm, he just about stopped him from falling off the couch onto the floor.
Just noticing Bo, Sol quickly ran over and and worked with Aaron to lift Bo back up onto the couch. Shaking Bo until he saw him finally peek open his eyes, Sol let out a relieved sigh.
Bo felt guilty making Sol worry, be he knew it was for the good of Sol and Carter’s friendship. If Sol had said anything more after that, there would be no going back. Although, what he had said already wasn’t really something he could come back from. There would always be this disconnect between Sol and Carter now.
“I think we should let him rest somewhere.” Sol proceeded to sit down beside the couch and hold Bo’s hand, looking at Aaron for reassurance on his decision.
Suggesting that Bo stay at his place, Sol was surprisingly met with no complaints.
Bo was ecpecting Carter to bound up with a cavil or two, knowing him, but only heard silence. Looking over, he could tell that Carter was clearly worried, but still possessed some wariness as to how to approach the situation. Sol and Carter weren’t on good terms anymore. It would be strange if he were to immediately start helping Sol take care of Bo.
“I think you should leave,” Sol demanded.
As Carter left, he looked back once at Bo Sol together, then walked out the door.
