“I WAS ONLY LOOKING OUT FOR HER AS HER MOTHER! AND YOU KNOW THAT POWERS CAN BE ACTIVATED WHEN A PERSON IS PUT IN EITHER A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION OR SOMEONE CLOSE TO THEM WAS IN DANGER!” The duchess raised her voice. She was angry that her own husband would doubt her.

“SHE’S YOUR DAUGHTER FOR GOD’S SAKE! YOU CAN’T POISON HER!” The duke yelled back,enraged.

“WELL THAT’S HOW THE AGNES DUCHY HELPS LATE BLOOMERS TO GET THEIR POWER!” The duchess defended herself.

“I DON’T GIVE A DAMN ABOUT YOUR SO CALLED TRADITIONAL ‘METHODS’ TO HELP OPH GET HER POWER! SHE’S JUST 13!” The duke said ,he still couldn't believe how stupid and apathetic his wife was acting. The duke sighed knowing that this heated endless argument will get them nowhere.

“SHE WILL BE STARTING ACADEMY NEXT YEAR! YOU DON’T KNOW HOW MUCH SHE’LL GET BULLIED IF SHE HAD NO POWER!” The duchess yelled. She was only looking out for her daughter. Even if Ophelia looked exactly like her father,she had to have inherited the Agnes’s family power.

“I’LL HOMESCHOOL HER THEN!” The duke retorted back. Poisoning their own daughter for the sake of “saving” her from school bullying wasn’t a valid option.

Just when the duchess was about to speak again,the duke interrupted her.

“And what if Oph gets the power of my side of the family and not yours? Would you treat her better than how you treat her now” He duke asked. At this point,he was tired of his wife’s shit.

“I treat Ophelia nicely! AND THAT’S NOT POSSIBLE! Ophelia has to inherit the Agnes’s power. She has to. And I know she will! Call it a mother’s instinct” The duchess said. She was very annoyed at her husband for not seeing things in her perspective. Maybe she did a mistake by marrying a lower aristocrat and should’ve heeded to her late father’s words instead.

Upon hearing the duchess’s reply, the duke sighed and shook his head. For the duke,it was so frustrating as to how the duchess couldn’t grasp a concept as simple as unconditional love.

“I suggest that you go to the family vacation house for a few weeks until you can think rationally again. Take Lia with you if you want. I’ll stay here with Oph” The duke spoke, turning around to leave. He was just so tired of this goddamn argument.
