With that, I was led out of the room. Thank God that it sounded cool when they said it. The outside of the circular room was a long hallway. To my left were large windows showing a beautiful courtyard, a story below with a large circular table and thirteen chairs sitting around it. Around the table were all different kinds of fruit trees and flowers with stone walkways that led from the table to the four sides of the courtyard. The top of the courtyard was two stories above us with a glass roof. I assume that was to make it more like a greenhouse.
On my right were several wooden doors that were as bare as could be compared to the courtyard on the other side of the hall. The light that came through the windows reflected off the grey tiling, giving the doors a sheen to them. I stopped to stare out the window at the courtyard. It did nothing but fascinate me. One of the demons, Seir I think, stopped beside me.
“Beautiful, isn’t it? No matter how many times I see it it makes me thankful that our gardeners are as good as they are.”
“Yes, it truly is. I will have to commend the gardeners personally.” I said, hoping to seem dignified, then I continued walking with the other demons.
Once we were at the end of the hallway, Barbato opened one of the doors on the right and said that there was a maid who would clothe me before I would be shown to the subjects whom I would rule. After I was inside the room, I noticed there was a mirror in the corner with a long hanger holding many different outfits. Otherwise, the room had only a door to the right. Taking a look in the mirror, I had yet to see my new form. Oh god, I was the same. Well, mostly… I had grown taller and my body was more toned. My height was somewhere between six and seven feet and I actually had abs now. The demon growths I had obtained were a set of wings that resembled a bat and a pair of horns that only protruded out an inch and resembled knife tips. My hair was short, white with a silvery tint and my eyes were now two different colors. My left, a light blue and the right, a dark crimson. I looked kind of badass if I do say so myself.
After observing myself for a moment the door opened and a short demon dressed in a bland white dress walked in. She was quite small, so small that I wondered how old she actually was. She didn’t have wings as I did but she had horns that kind of resembled a Billy goat. Her hair was auburn and tied up in a bun. Of course, the way she moved made it seem like she was scared of me, or at least, scared of offending me.
“My Lord, I am here to serve you,” she said with a bow.
“Thank you and what is your name.”
“I am Aldua, one of the female maids that keeps the castle clean and does any other tasks that may be required of me.”
“Well, thank you. You are doing a wonderful job.”
She blushed at this. “Thank you for your kind praise my Lord. I am honored.”
“You don’t have to be so dignified around me. I understand that you can’t do that around others but I am not used to being around dignified people.” I said in the hope of relaxing her but it didn’t.
“I cannot do that, Lord Balbato’s will have my head,” she replied in a terrified tone.
“Okay, if you must.”
“Alright then, what do you believe would suit you best my Lord?” She asked, gesturing at the rack of clothing. Looking at the rack of suits, most were black and red but came in all manners of styles. One on the other hand was black and blue. It was a long plain hooded robe with pants and a shirt underneath. The pants were black and the shirt was blue. You could see the shirt through the front of the robe but the robe only seemed to accentuate the blue shirt by having a blue streak that ran from the opening down and the inside of the hood was also the same shade.
“This looks good,” I said, showing her the robe.
“That robe is a nicer version of one commonly worn by mages. Are you perhaps proficient in mage craft, my Lord? ” Aldua asked.
“I do not know yet.”
“How could you not know?” She asked in disbelief. “Try imagining a fire in your hand. See if one will appear.” she said.
I began to do as she instructed and imagined a fire in my hand. Nothing happened.
“Try to show more emotion. Focus all your anger, love, and desire, everything, into your hand as you imagine it.”
I did so and this time, a small flame ignited in my hand. The excitement from casting magic was beyond anything else and then I lost control of it. The small flame exploded like an inferno towards the ceiling changing from an orange color to a bright blue. I immediately stopped imagining the flames but not before I had burned Aldua.
“Oh god, are you okay? I am so sorry.” I said flustered and utterly distraught at the fact that I had just hurt this girl. I looked down and her hands had been burnt to where the skin was no more and only the burnt medium-done-looking flesh remained.
“Do not worry, it is an honor to see the Demon Lords' magic, even if I am harmed in the process,” she said shaking from the adrenaline.
“Let me try to help. Is there a healing magic of some kind?”
“Yes. just do as you did before while imagining the flames but instead imagine the damage done to me in reverse.”
I did so and watched as her hands turned from a cooked meat color to a bright pink and layers of skin grew back over them. I was shocked that healing magic could do even that.
“Thank you, my Lord. your magic is far greater than any others in this realm, as far as I know.”
“Please do not thank me, since I was the one who hurt you in the first place.”
“Of course, my apologies. Let us return to getting you into some better clothes my Lord.” and so I was forcefully clothed by someone else, something I am not and probably never will be used to.
