“As you can see, that’s clearly you playing with those “losers”” Mark airquoted while staring Jae down. “Whatever, if you get me suspended. I won’t ever have to play.” Jae said while moving his disheveled white hair out of his way. “Besides, once that suspension is over. I’ll join Tokyo Excellence, they already have an offer waiting for me.” Jae said while standing up. “Are we done here?” Mark didn’t play his cards right, and now he’ll never get Jae to play on his roster. “Are you serious? You’re willing to get suspended?” Mark asked, his expression turned into a horrified look. “You’re crazy, last year you threatened to hack my account if I didn’t play for you.” Jae said while walking towards the door. “By the way, if it wasn’t for Kugo I wouldn’t have showed up.” “Kugo?” Mark asked, “He said he’d ask you about joining this team,” Jae sucked his teeth. “That sucks he won’t ask after what I told him about you.” Jae said while opening the door. “As I was saying, go ahead and do whatever you want. Nothing in this world could make me play for you.” Jae walked out of the door and slammed it, yet he was so calm. Mark’s face became shocked. This rookie just practically owned him! In Marks defense, Jae was an exceptional player. However, Mark should’ve taken no for an answer. He was willing to go to extreme cases to get Jae to play for him. And now, Jae would be joining Tokyo Excellence which was arguably the best team in Japan! Jae Adachi, owner of the Ocelotus account, was an eighteen year-old rookie in the Spellcasters Pro League. He already won rookie of the year because he was so much more ahead compared to his peers, he played professional Grimwatch in the junior league and played one season in the professional league. He was a Grimwatch junior champion. So he was very experienced with managers of Marks caliber. Mark wasn’t bad, he was just shameless and was ready to do anything to get Jae on his roster. A couple days passed. Computer Lab, Ishin Academy. The team was rowdy while practicing but Yuki was silent, Seto approached her. “Hey, are you okay?” He asked. Yuki sighed, “I won’t ever get to start, will I?” “I’m sure you will, have you been practicing outside of the team?” Seto asked “Yeah, I’ve been doing Ryuko’s training regime.” Yuki explained while aimlessly clicking buttons on her keyboard. “Hey, Kugo!” Seto called Kugo over. “Can you help Yuki?” Seto asked, “She wants to improve her rank but nothings working.” Kugo looked at Yuki’s screen and observed while she played. Her typical rank games consisted of people using their mics babbling about nothing, higher ranked players on low ranked accounts, teammates purposely sabotaging the team, and constant arguing. “First, you should mute your team.” Kugo said timidly. “And then, don’t worry so much about them. Focus on your own gameplay.” Kugo was anxious, he doesn’t like talking this much. And now he had to coach someone, this made him even more anxious and nervous. He watched an encounter between Yuki and another player, she lost the fight and Kugo noticed something crucial. “Your sword fighting skills..” Kugo said nervously, “They need work.” Yuki looked at Kugo, “Why are you stuttering? Spit it out!” Yuki yelled. Kugo flinched at her yelling, “Well..” Kugo said, “When you’re fighting someone that has a glaive, you have to wait for their attack first.” Yuki looked back at the game and started looking for another fight. “The glaive has a much larger hitbox, if you let them swing first, you can block and counter their attack.” Kugo explained. “The glaive is a strong weapon choice because you’re almost guaranteed a strike, but the sword is quicker so you can chain your combinations together.” Kugo added, “I do remember Mark saying something about hitboxes, but he never told me I should let glaive users attack first!” Yuki said. “Well, if I’m being honest. Higher ranked players don’t struggle with that because we know the hitbox, we don’t have to wait for the attack. We can easily evade a glaive attack, but because you’re lower ranked you’ll have to counter each attack until you can learn to evade the hitbox.” Kugo explained. “Right!” Yuki nodded while continuing to play the game, she got into another encounter against a glaive user and won using Kugo’s method. “Wow, it worked! You’re a genius!” She praised, Kugo was correct, in high rank it was rare to see a glaive player hit a guaranteed strike. Higher ranks rarely had to wait for the glaive player to attack first. That was the difference between ranks. “Our next match is against Kaigan Academy.” Rei said while entering the practice room. “I’m starting now, right?” Hirota asked. “Who would bench for you?” Rei mocked and laughed. Hirota gave her a grimace face. “Alright, that’s enough for today.” Tanaka said while standing up. “Tomorrow, we face Kizuna.”
