Chapter 29: Suits

Chapter 29: Suits

Jan 30, 2024

A/N: Sorry guys… I got distracted and didn’t upload the second chapter Dx Here it is! And I promise to stick to the schedule. I set up alarms on my phone to remind me. >.<

“You have got to be kidding me….”

Yi-an couldn’t keep his mouth shut as he gawked at the building before him. This had to be a joke. Why did that jerk bring him here? Wasn’t he going to take him home?

Noticing that Yi-an wasn’t getting out of the car, Min peered down at the shocked singer, “Why aren’t you getting off? What, do you need help with taking your seatbelt off?”

“Why are we here? Do you want people to recognize me?!”

“People will recognize you no matter where you go, anyway. You can’t stay cooped up in your house forever. Live a little.”

“Fair point, but… Why did you bring me to a shopping mall?” Yi-an asked, his eyes flickering back at the towering building.

With a slight sigh, the heir strode to Yi-an’s side of the car and swiftly opened the passenger-side door. He studied him for a minute before he leaned towards the singer, who shrank back into his seat. Unable to maintain eye contact with the handsome heir, Yi-an squeezed his eyes shut while his heart hammered against his chest in an irregular rhythm. Why’s he so close? Go away, you weirdo–

Click.

“Huh…?” Glancing down, Yi-an watched as his seat belt came undone in a blink of an eye. Confused, he looked up to see Min smirking at the idol’s flushed cheeks.

“What were you thinking about?”

“N-Nothing! I-I didn’t think of anything!” Yi-an grumbled, shoving the chuckling heir away from him as he warily stepped out of the car. “So… What are we going to do here?”

Taking Yi-an’s hand, Min smiled before pulling the singer along, “Instead of asking questions, why don’t you follow me?”

~~~
“Ugh, I don’t need new clothes! Why are you so stubborn?!” Yi-an whined while trying to break free from Jake’s iron grip.
“Just consider it as a congratulatory gift from me. I won’t let the first celebrity signed with ONE Entertainment look like a bum.”
“Hey! I have plenty of nice clothes–”
“Yeah, that you can’t wear to official events because you’re no longer sponsored by them.” Glancing back at Yi-an, Min bit his lip, realizing that what he said could be hurtful to the singer, “Sorry. I didn’t mean to be rude or offensive....”
“I got it. No need to explain yourself when it’s true. I’ll pay you back for the clothes once I get paid….” Yi-an mumbled, his cheeks growing pink with embarrassment. Ugh. How did I, a global K-pop star, become like this?
“Pfft. I told you, it’s a gift. But… if you insist, you can repay me by being my fiancé. Otherwise, you owe me the full amount.”
“What– You just said it’s a gift!”
“And you said that you’ll pay me back.”
“Ergh….”
Chuckling, Min led Yi-an into a custom tailor shop on the 12th floor of the department store. The vintage-inspired shop was spacious, with rich oak panels and rows of high-quality fabric adorning the walls and shelves. Blinded by the glittering interior of the store, Yi-an gaped around in awe, stunned at the intricate pieces displayed on the mannequins. Woah. These clothes look more expensive than the suits I received from all the luxury brands I used to endorse. Picking up one of the tags for a suit jacket, Yi-an felt his haw drop to the floor as his eyes bulged at the price. 700 million won* for a suit jacket?! What was it made out of– diamonds?!
“Welcome, Mr. Yoon! How may I assist you today?” asked the sales representative as she glanced at Yi-an, who quickly hid behind Min’s broad back.
“I want to order a few custom suits for him. Is Mr. Clarke back from his trip?” Min responded while pointing to the hidden idol behind him.
“Yes, he is! Let me lead you to the waiting room while we inform him of your arrival.” Opening the door at the end of the narrow hallway, the young woman beamed at the pair, “Please have a seat and enjoy our complimentary refreshments while you wait.”
“Thank you.”
Min waited a few moments before shifting his attention to Yi-an, who looked scared, as if he had just seen a ghost. Raising an eyebrow, the heir nudged the singer towards the sofa, but the idol vehemently shook his head.
“No, let’s just go.” Yi-an turned to leave but was blocked by the taller heir.
“What do you mean? If it’s because I said you have to pay me back, I was just joking.”
“Dude, a suit jacket alone costs over 700 million won! Are you crazy?! I don’t need something so expensive! I have suits that aren’t from brand deals that I can wear.”
“Over my dead body. You’re a global K-pop star– how can I let you wear something like that? You need to dress the part, so just leave it to me. Buying your clothes is part of my investment in your career.”
“But I don’t need this type of investment–”
“Yi-an.”
“What–?”
In one swift motion, the heir gently grabbed Yi-an’s cheek with his right hand and stared at the baffled idol, “I know it seems ridiculous to own a suit that costs so much money, but you need to show everyone that just because you hit rock bottom, it doesn’t mean that you’re irrelevant.”
“I…”
Yi-an didn’t know what to say as they stared at each other, their hearts thumping in unison at their close proximity. Shoot. He hadn’t anticipated being so close to the heir. What was he supposed to do?! Anxiety began to settle deep within the idol’s stomach. Yet, the warmth of the heir’s hand immediately relaxed him. How odd. Was it because Jake Yoon reminded him of a particular someone?
“... Should I let go?”
“H-Huh?”
Suddenly, a loud bang reverberated along the four walls as the tailor, Mr. Clarke, came strolling in with a jovial smile.
“Mr. Yoon! I’m so glad to– Oh my.”
In a panicked state, the pair had stumbled over each other and landed on the sofa in a… well, questionable position. His cheeks growing bright red, Yi-an quickly untangled himself and darted out of the room. Oh my God, that was so mortifying! Dammit! I want to just die in a ditch!
“Er, was I interrupting something?”
“Let’s just go get his measurements….”
