Damian was about to fall when in his gaze, a thin, tiny flame ignited. Behind the hybrid, Autumn appeared with the whole spear in her hands. Ninx penetrated the creature, the euphoria of being hit from behind evident in the hybrid's eyes.
"You wanted a reason," Autumn said behind him, struggling. "But I don't need a reason to save someone."
She released her hands from the spear. Damian's eyes were wide open when he saw Sinmir turn and stagger away. The hybrid searched for the girl. Autumn took two steps back, raising her hand.
"Even bleeding..." the girl murmured with a trembling voice. "I can do this."
"You can't kill me..." he uttered, his furious yellow eyes, his harsh weapons impeding his movement. "My cursed blood will save me. You have no idea of the power running in my veins."
Autumn hardened her face.
"Believe me, we can't always rely on our blood... Ninx!" she announced the name of the spear fervently. Sinmir still walked determinedly.
"You don't have that power. Insolent, damned..."
The girl shook her head, lifting her chin.
"Illumina..." she said, her arm raised, giving an order to the weapon. "Bant!"
Immediately, a light originated from Sinmir's body. The spear twinkled with pronounced rays, and the hybrid screamed, engulfed by the emanated power. Being lashed from inside out, the wings disappeared first. His body began to disintegrate, gradually. He was consumed by golden rays and a destructive circle formed around him. The hybrid continued to scream. Damian watched it all, incredulous.
When the light finally ceased, the creature was paralyzed, as if its soul had been ripped out. Its skin was a hard, scorched shell.
"No... It won't end like this..." Sinmir gasped, pulling his last breath. "My brother, he will..."
What remained of his body evaporated. The remnants of the hybrid joined the wind, disappearing like smoke. The spear and the sword lay loosely on the grass.
Autumn finally let her knees give way.
"We did it," she concluded, her speech coming out like a whisper, her face bearing a desolate expression. "Thank you for helping me, Ninx."
She then raised her eyes, seeing Damian completely fallen. Their eyes met like magnets. It was over for them.
The girl seemed to want to go to him, but had no strength left in her body. The boy still had his eyes open. He looked at her differently. Despite the fading light, there was satisfaction on his face. His pallid face clearly showed that he was dying.
"Dante," she called out. She wanted to say a few words, but her eyelids were falling.
"Autumn... we won," he said, almost inaudibly.
"I'm sorry," she asked in farewell, falling to the side, unconscious.
Damian couldn't move, as if his body had already been lifeless before his mind gave in. The mark on his neck had also vanished. He thought of Elio, but his remaining time was short.
In what should have been just another ordinary afternoon in Damian Montgomery's life, the young man was eagerly anticipating his brother Elio's weekend visit. However, Dante, as Elio affectionately called Damian, seemed unwilling to spare any of his time for his older brother.
Yet, in a surprising turn of events, Elio had now vanished. Following an encounter with a mysterious creature and a timely rescue by a girl named Autumn, Damian found himself compelled to question his own origins to unravel the unfolding mysteries. What was Elio's true identity? Why did Autumn appear to possess more knowledge than he did?
And most importantly, what was that armor fused to his skin, and why had it chosen him? Wrapped in layers of enigma and secrets, Damian embarks on a journey to unearth the truth, unaware of the challenges that lie ahead.
