Chapter 3 – The True Face of the Great Demon Nimue: Part 1

The figure came out of the red fog. The person lurking in the fog was actually a woman about 205 cm tall (6.7 feet), with a green hair that touched the floor, a side ponytail at least as long as her hair, two non-symmetrical horns, blue eyes with a tiny bit of red makeup under, and a long tail with a purple-black flame on the end. She wore asymmetrical red robes with a sleeveless turtle neck, long sleeve gloves, and brown-ish baggy pants. She looked quite powerful. The only thing that balanced this power was her completely flat chest.

Adei was puzzled. How did he summon one of the most powerful demons in history from this weapon.? Better question, how did she end up in there? He was getting more and more confused, but Nimue broke the silence by asking him a question.

–“So… why did you summon me?”

From her sarcastic tone, it was clear that she already knew why Adei summoned her from the demon weapon, to make a contract.

–“Well I was wondering if we… could uh.. like make a contract….?”

–“Hmm…”

She analysed Adei from head to toe. Just when he got to his upper body again, her eyes widened. She looked like she stumbled upon something that she didn’t want to see.

–“Do you know.. who– no, why your mana core got hollowed…?

–“…No? I have been like that since birth.”

–“I see…”

She went back to thinking straight away, soon after she looked like she came up with an idea, she went back to talking about the contract.

–“Ok, I’m willing to make a contract with you, but I have something you need to help me with. So how about this? Whenever I do something for you, you do something for me in return. Deal?”

Adei hesitated. Nimue could ask anything she would want in return, but he had no choice. He needed to have this contract made for him to climb higher. After a moment of hesitation, he finally agreed he agreed to the terms of the contract.

–“…Deal”

A strange light circled Nimue’s neck. A golden shackle formed from the golden light, and wrapped itself around her neck. The chains from the shackle locked itself onto the tall scythe’s end. A tattoo identical to the drawing on the instruction manual appeared on her shoulder, thus sealing the contract.

Nimue spoke up:

–“Now that we’ve made the contract, we might want to get away quickly from the monsters surrounding us.

–“…What?”

Adei said, confused. He looked behind him, and saw a horde of dragonbeaks* circling them, lurking in the bushes. He quickly jumped up and headed for the scythe to slay the monsters surrounding them, when Nimue stopped him.

–“I know a better way to get out of this situation more efficiently, just put the scythe down in the air, like you would on a table, It will start to float. Then, sit on it and it will fly you to your destination.”

Adei hurriedly placed down the scythe in the air to fly away quickly. The scythe fell soon after he put it down. He was panicking even more now, but thought about why that happened. “WHAT!? Did she lie!?... Wait she has no reason to lie, but… what do I do then? Maybe if I calm down a little, the scythe will listen. Power circulates more easily when one has a calm mind…” Hoping for the magic of the scythe to work, he carefully placed down the scythe in the air. The scythe slowly climbed its way up into the air, until it was 90 centimetres away from the ground (3 feet). He hopped on, the scythe immediately bolted into the evening sky, carrying its passenger above the clouds, presenting a beautiful view. The moonlight danced on the bed of clouds, stars twinkling at the sight. A slight fog enveloped the ballroom, making the scene even more dazzling.

Nimue sat down on the back of the scythe, still having room for at least one person on it.

She fell back, and started hanging from the scythe by her legs. The slight breeze above the clouds grazed her long and green hair, sending slight waves through the strands.

–“Pretty cool, right?” Nimue said, awaiting a praise from his new contractor.

–“Yeah… not bad.” Said Adei with a mocking tone.

–“What do you mean not bad!? Be grateful I got you out of there!!”

–“At the end, I was the one controlling the scythe.” Adei said stubbornly.

–“Yeah right without my guidance, you would be dead. meat.”

–“Mhm…” Adei said with a skeptical tone.

–“WHAT DO YOU MEAN ‘MHM’” Nimue snapped.

Hours passed by, finally at 1:25 AM, they arrived at the dorm building of the Begonia Academy, everyone was sound asleep, guards where nowhere in sight since they change shifts every five hours or so. The scythe arrived in front of Adei’s dorm room window, and it carefully slipped through the gap. The scythe collapsed after arriving in Adei’s small dorm, leaving him to fall and hit his head, while Nimue was still floating in the air trying to hold back her urge to laugh at him. Adei was about to yell at her, when one of the staff knocked on the door.

–“Hello? Is everything okay in there?”

The staff said, the voice sounded muffled from the dorm room. Everyone went silent, both Adei and Nimue knew that even though the staff can’t hear Nimue, Adei can and will flare up so both of them stopped provoking each other. The staff left soon after and both of them sighed from relief. Adei went to bed and instructed Nimue to not bother him while he’s sleeping. Nimue annoyed, shrugged at the remark and let Adei to sleep soundly in his bed. While Adei was asleep, she tried out some things whether the contract allows her to. For example, flying away, combat spells, touching things, and such. Everything proved to be futile, so she just leaned against the scythe and went to rest.

Adei, as always, woke up at 6:30 AM sharp. He started his morning as usual, brushing his teeth, making some breakfast, sitting down to eat it, dressing up properly, and other activities along those lines. The only difference was, a “pesky fly” was always following him everywhere, blaring into his ears. It sat on him, block always blocked his ways, laughed at him, and tried to annoy Adei in every way it’s capable of. Although Adei does have a lot of patience, he finally snapped at the “pesky fly”.

–“OMG NIMUE STOP!!”

–“BHAHAHA” she snorted “NO THANK YOU! My only muse is bothering you, and it’s quite a show. If you would see yourself from outside, you would be crying laughing too LOL”

–“OH. MY. GOD… just tell me what can make you stop”

Adei, finally giving up, and asking the forbidden question that’ll one hundred precent get him into trouble. Although he didn’t want to fall deeper into the rabbit hole, he had to make this pesky fly stop with its atrocities.

–“Hmm? Do you really want to know??”

Nimue smirked. Adei already knew that that smile meant trouble. Though he did not want the “pesky fly” annoying him throughout the day, this was better than doing the devil’s bidding. So, he denied all accusations to not get into vexing situations anymore.

Nimue frowned at him for a while but quickly let it go. She knew that he wasn’t going back on his word hence it was futile for her to attempt make him do it.

After he got ready, he went to Demon Weaponry class at 7:50 AM. This time, everyone was asked to bring their demon weapon. This probably meant that they will summon the demons’ soul from the demon weapons. Adei looked at Nimue piercingly, to do her job when they get to Demon Weaponry class.

–“As I stated, summon a weaker demon when it’s my turn, so I can avoid suspicion. This is for both of our sakes. Ok?”

Nimue looked at him from above with a cold and piercing gaze. She hated the idea from being bossed around for some unknown reason. She quickly stopped being stubborn and tilted her head with a shrug.

–“Hmph. Fine.”
