He pulled the organs from under his armpit, tapped them a few times in his open palm, shook them, peered into each crevice, blew through, and then began to play.
Although his performance was quite decent, the mere fact that he played at all was annoying to others.
They started to criticize him loudly, calling him a lousy musician and using various other offensive terms.
Initially, he seemed immune to their malice, attempting to find joy in making music, but they were determined to drown him out.
Finally, realizing the futility of it all, he abruptly stopped and tucked the organs into the inner pocket of his jacket.
They stared at him, probably wanting to make sure he was truly done.
Once everyone was certain it was over and there would be no more organ playing, they lost interest, but they remained vigilant.
If anyone else appeared and wanted to shine before them, stand out in the crowd, they would treat them the same way as that musician, perhaps even worse.
