so! it's been Some Time since I last updated this comic. I'd been unsure where to go with things for a while - Sargentum was my first comic, and I'd pinned a LOT on it (a common story with webcomic artists!)
I realise that this comic is important to a lot of people (people have recognised Archer at cons which is WILD), and it means so much to me too. However, I felt like I could tell this story better.
I always felt awkward about earlier pages, and I was an adult working within a story and boundaries made by my teen self - staying kinda creatively stagnant. I wanted Sargentum to be SO so good, and everything /I/ wanted to read but couldn't find on shelves, but I wasn't allowing it to thrive and live up to what it could be.
I've had some years away from it, (and to my shame near-forgot it) until my illustration agency mentioned that they were interested in pitching it to publishers. They were happy to pitch it as it was, but I'm not. I'm still really fond of these pages, but /because/ Sargentum means so much to me, I'm now working on a pitch for publishing with rehauled plot, characterisation, and art, and doing my best to make it what I always wanted it to be at 18.
Currently rehashing the plot is taking me AGES (society if I had access to ADHD medication) but it's looking good! I'm still working within a sandbox made by 18 yr old me, but I think I'm doing it justice now.
This isn't really a big announcement as just putting this pitch together is taking Some Time, and even /if/ (a big if) I was so lucky as to be able to publish it, it'd be Even More Time (recurring joke about ADHD meds). But! This is to say I haven't forgotten, and I'm very much actively working with these characters again. I post on tumblr (not very professionally) under popsicle-stick, and I'm on insta (more professionally) as popsiclestickle - both of these places will have any updates as things happen.
