Three weeks have passed since William became Oliver’s boyfriend, and the brown eyed man is still very much mad about the green-eyed man. Much like before, the two of them spend all their time together, except for when they have lectures, and even then, William always finds himself itching to get back home to Oliver. His boyfriend. It’s pretty romantic to think about, and as a romantic, William is beside himself with joy that he actually did have a boyfriend.
To think that he’s spent the past year swearing off an actual relationship because he happened to fall in love with an asshole. He chuckles to himself as he walks to the lecture hall. He scans the room as soon as he enters, searching earnestly for his best friend whom he sees sitting in the middle of the room and waving frantically at him. William smirks and goes down to her, glad to have been saved a seat.
“Hey, let me check the assignment? I’m not sure about my answer for question 5,” Alyssa says once William settles down.
“Seriously? Not even a ‘hi, how are you?’”
“I saved you a seat, didn’t I?” She rolls her eyes. “Just let me see it!”
William rolls his eyes and opens his bag to take out his assignment only to pause for a moment, eyes widening slowly as he suddenly remembers that the assignment which he is supposed to hand in today is sitting on his bed, next to the bottle of peppermint lube he bought the night before as a present to Oliver.
“Fuck!” It feels like dejavu.
“What?”
“I left it on my bed!”
“What the fuck? Will!”
He squeezes his eyes shut and shakes his head, feeling dumb as hell for forgetting such an important thing. “I was so excited about the thing I got for Ollie that I forgot to take my file,” he explains, whining.
“Ah yes, as per usual, you were thinking with your other head,” Alyssa shakes her head. “Ollie’s game must be fucking god-tier ‘cause I can’t believe how dick drunk you’re being right now.”
“Uh guys, we’re in class,” a voice drolls from behind them.
William only sighs dejectedly, not bothering to answer with words but a shake of his head. He thinks of what to say to Michaela, the TA, about leaving his assignment to convince her to cut him slack. After all, it’s not the first time he’s missed the deadline and of course, Ollie’s the reason it happened again. Before he can come up with a satisfying explanation, Michaela announces that their lecturer has canceled the class for personal reasons.
“Which means that I’ll be taking your papers by the end of the day,” She adds and William lets out a huge sigh of relief. “Guys, this is the last extension. Don’t make me regret it. Class dismissed.”
“Yes! Thanks to my lucky stars and wherever the fuck I slept last night,” William cheers as he gets up.
“I think we both know where you slept last night, on Ollie’s di-”
“Girl, you talk more about my boyfriend’s dick than I do, jeez have some class,” William rolls his eyes for the nth time that afternoon which only makes Alyssa burst into laughter as the two follow their mates out of the lecture hall.
“What do you wanna do now?”
“Well I gotta get back to the apartment and get my assignment.”
“And after? I’m so bored William, I wanna go out,” Alyssa whines.
“I’m sure we can figure something out,” William answers, trying to comfort her. He knows a bit about what boredom can do to a person, though it did end up giving him a boyfriend so he can’t complain.
“Or not, I guess,” Alyssa suddenly says and stops walking, making William frown.
“Wait why?”
“Ollie’s here.”
William looks up, eyes wide when he meets the green eyes he’s come to love so much. “Oh, hi,” he whispers when the owner of said eyes meets him, putting his arms around the latter’s neck and pulling him down for a kiss. “What are you doing here?”
“Heard your class got canceled,” Oliver smiles.
“How’d you find out?”
“Michaela told me,” he smirks. “You know I’m friends with her, right?”
“Not particularly, no,” William says slowly. “Um…” He looks back at Alyssa, suddenly unsure of what to do.
“You guys go on without me,” she tells him, waving them off.
“Are you sure?”
“Yeah, I’ll figure something out.”
“Okay,” William nods. “I’ll make it up to you, Alyssa. I promise.”
“I’ll hold you to it,” she says and turns away, leaving the couple with only a wave.
William turns to his boyfriend, grinning. “Hi, again,” he laughs.
Oliver chuckles, finding William even more adorable in that moment. “What was that about?”
“We were gonna hang out together but…”
“Oh? Should we meet up later then?” Oliver asks, feeling guilty. He knows its been a while since William and Alyssa hang out together without him being in the same room as them. “I don’t want to keep you away from your friend.”
William looks up at his boyfriend for a moment and smiles warmly, his heart beating even faster. How can a man be so sweet? “You’re not, really. I’ll make it up to her, don’t worry about it.”
“You sure?”
“Of course, Ollie!’ William insists. “Now do you wanna help me get my assignment or not?”
“Anything you want,” Oliver says, because yes, he’s willing to do anything with William, even if it means going to the apartment and coming back to the faculty.
To Oliver, William’s unlike any man he’s ever met. It’s not about his looks or how good he is in bed, or even how happy he makes him. William’s hardworking and diligent nature inspires and pushes Oliver to do better. His personality is more than just a fluffy ball of sunshine. Of course Oliver thinks William’s far more handsome and prettier than any man he’s ever been with, but he’s also very special in the way he speaks, the way his eyes crinkle when he smiles, the way his small hands fit perfectly in Oliver’s big ones. Even their bodies seem perfectly fit for each other. There’s never been anyone that completes him the way William does, and he’s sure he’s in this for a really long time, if not eternity.
By the time the two make it back to the faculty to submit William’s assignment, it’s well past lunch and they decide to go get some Thai food.
“Let’s just get some Pad Thai,” William suggests as they walk into the restaurant.
“But you like spicy food,” Oliver says.
“Yeah, but you don’t and we don’t have any milk at home,” William chuckles, and the blush that sports Oliver’s cheeks can’t be helped. The two head up to the counter to order their food.
“Ollie? I didn’t know you guys were here.”
There’s no asking whose voice that is. William’s heart nearly skips a beat by the shock. He turns slowly to face Jason, the guilt he feels regarding the ginger suddenly rushing in like a train. He knows there’s no reason he should feel guilty as there was nothing going on between them, but he also never did tell Jason about his relationship with Oliver.
“Oh, William?“ Jason asks, eyes wide as if he only noticed the man in question.
“Hi,” William gives him a shy wave.
“You guys hang out?” Jason raises a brow. William frowns at the question. Why would Jason of all people wonder if he and Oliver hang out, or even wonder why they were hanging out? Didn’t Oliver tell Jason? He knows he’s kept it from Jason, but that’s because he and the ginger were never close friends to begin with. But this is Oliver’s best friend, and it’s been weeks since they became official. With brows furrowed, William turns to Oliver who suddenly seems more interested in the menu.
“Uh, guys, what’s going on?” Jason asks.
“You didn’t tell him?” William whisper-shouts.
“I was going to!”
Jason eyes widen slightly as his go back and forth between the two men before him. He purses his lips, wheels turning in his mind as the pieces begin to fall into place. “Oh y’all are fucking?”
“Jason, it’s more than that,” William instantly corrects him and reaches out to grab Jason’s hand, intending to pull the man away from the restaurant so they can speak in private but the shorter man pulls away with a glare that has William gulping and taking a step back.
“I’m not like angry or anything, just kinda weirded out that you didn’t tell me and still made me think I had a chance,” he states. Then he looks at Oliver for a moment and without a word, leaves the restaurant.
William tries to go after him only to be pulled back by Oliver. “What are you doing? We need to talk to him!”
“I know.”
“Then why are you pulling me back? He’s your best friend!”
“Exactly,” Oliver states firmly. He breathes in slowly and takes William’s hand in his, lacing their fingers together as he leads the latter out of the restaurant. “I know how he is, and he needs time to cool off.”
“If you know how he is, why didn’t you tell him about us?”
“I was going to, but I didn’t think it was a big deal since you said you guys never did anything.”
“You didn’t think it was a big deal to tell your best friend that you have a boyfriend? Let alone that you’re dating the guy he almost had sex with and still has a crush on? Oliver, are you being for real right now?”
Silence hangs in the air like a dark cloud and the only thing Oliver can think to do is look away from his boyfriend’s angry eyes. William’s unsure what he feels. Shocked and upset don’t feel enough to describe the raging storm within him, but the anger burning up in the pits of his stomach is enough to overshadow all logic.
“What the fuck Oliver?” He yells. He opens his mouth to say something and then closes it, as if there were no words in the English dictionary that were good enough. “Y’know what, just leave me alone until you get your priorities in order.”
