The planetary governor Raltz sat in his convoy vehicle as it hovered above the ground, his security detail outfitted with high tech weaponry and body armor. Like his people his body was short, his arms hanging down almost to the ground. He was furry underneath his attire, large angular eyes and floppy long ears sat atop a small round head. Lately the planet had seen more trade traffic and that not only meant more money, but more attention from the wrong people.
As the governor of a world that was part of a smaller circuit of worlds non aligned with any major empire, it was already difficult enough to keep the fiends and brutes at bay. However it had seemed Rorokis had become a world of interest to some of those greater powers that had for whatever reason previously overlooked the world or the star system in general. This meant different forces of any kind could appear at any time and begin to make demands, and even if they had their eyes focused on Rorokis, there would be no major naval fleet to protect Ishpha from any who decided one world wasn’t enough.
Due to this the governor took matters into his own hands deciding to work with a powerful band of mercs who ultimately served a powerful rogue trader named Aku Raze. Together for the time, the fragile alliance had allowed him to keep security tight enough to control things, but soon he wouldn’t need the goons anymore. Soon he’d unleash a power that could eat worlds and remake them and he would be king. He could see it all play out in his head as his . He was preparing to meet with Jaku who had sent his right hand ahead to prepare the meeting grounds and greet the governor.
‘Damn traders making me wait.. And after they botched the last delivery? Don’t they know I’m the damn governor!? Aggghhhh, I hate having to depend on foreigners’, he grunted, his voice raspy and wet as if he had a mouth full of water. ‘They might as well be damn space pirates all the money I’m paying em to float around up there and party and gloat to whores. Hmmm, but if what he’s got for me today is what I think it is I won’t even have to finalize this new bullshit Rorokis trade mineral deal! Hmmm, yes’
‘Yes, ok. I have just received confirmation. We can enter the establishment now sir”, the comm officer alerted Raltz in an emotionless voice as he was mechanical.
‘Good, as gracious as I am, I don't have all the patience in the world for this shit. Let’s go’, governor Raltz responded.
They exited the vehicle, both their doors opened by armed troops standing outside the vehicle. As they approached the building they were greeted by Aku’s right hand. He wore a jacket over his long tunic that covered his body down to his feet, a book in his left hand.
‘Greetings governor, it is a pleasure to see you again’, his demeanor was relaxed and mannerly, his voice smooth and slyer than the governor remembered.
‘Yea, yea well I hope you all realize how generous I've been up to this point. I don’t have the luxury of playing games so this better make up for the last botched meeting and it had better be ready and it better be mind blowing.’
The right hand responded, his serene presence already irritating Raltz, ‘Oh yes indeed, we are most thankful for your business and if I may say so myself.. I do believe you’ll find tonight’s shipment to be more than satisfactory. Again I apologize for the tardiness of Captain Aku, but if you would be right this way, I know you’re dying to see what’s inside.’
‘Bout damn time.’
The Gov and his detail walked inside with the right hand leading them, his luxury hovercraft left on standby with a couple guards.
The building was a compound just outside of a nearby town of decent proportion, it sat on the side of a hill with a few others like it which were predominantly made of clay resin unique to the world. The only reason the governor had chosen to meet here besides secrecy was because Aku had actually owned the compound, purchasing it as an outpost of sorts years prior when he had first visited the world.
To Raltz’s surprise the compound was actually quite nice inside. There were rooms pertaining to anything from entertainment, armory and even a beast pen in the back with exotic animals. The sleeping quarters were made of the fine oak like plant that surrounded the area giving it a more home style feel.
The group arrived at the interior entrances toward the rear where the shipment would be. This one was said to be a prototype of a new automated defense system. They stopped as they approached the interior entrance to the garage, the right hand turning to address them,
‘Ahh, we’re here. One moment please’. He walked into the door and silence filled the air.
Had it been two minutes? Five? No, ten? Tension began to rise as every second felt like it was leading to an unwelcome surprise, the governor's men preparing for ambush. Then as calm as he left, the right hand returned through the opening to his gesturing for the men to enter the garage as he stood just inside.
Raltz let out a small sigh, wiping the sweat off of his brow.
‘Ha. No refreshments offered this time? Well I'm glad you're doing your business more professionally. We can celebrate after the deal when Aku arrives.’
He did not trust the rogue traders, but to this point they had never attempted to overpower him, only taken advantage of the predicament he was in. Though they had shown him hospitality and a level of high esteem from time to time, it was no doubt to loosen him and impress him with their captain's fine choice of intergalactic liquors and wines.
‘Yes, after.’ The right hand said, his hand still held in prompt to enter. As Raltz approached the doorway he saw a large battle mech type weapon in the center of the room ‘Finally.. Let’s see this special weapon I was promised.’
