As the door to the class room is opened by Fushi, he spots their class teacher lying in a sleeping bag behind the teacher’s table. He walks up to his class teacher proudly while some of the students who have arrived before the boy and Fushi shakes their head at Fushi’s actions, and some of the boys looks on giving thumbs up.
The boy looks at his classmates then at his class teacher and finally at Fushi as he smiles back to him. And says, “we will miss you.”
Bowing his head to the boy, he turns back to his class teacher, who is perfectly aware of what’s happening. Fushi crouches next to him and says, “sir, are you a camper because you could have camped at-”
Fushi’s mouth is muffled by a sudden white aura coming from the class teacher, and class teacher says, “not now Fushi, I am just getting some sleep after grading everyone’s homework. I ended up grading through last night up until 4 AM. So, keep the joke for later and enjoy till first period begins.”
This is Fanakar Lakshit, an adventurer who now rarely adventures because of the fear that has settled within him. Now, currently working as a school teacher and this class’s class teacher.
Fanakar proceeds to absorb back his aura. Fushi says, “now, that was some interesting sauce, may I have another bite of it, Fanakar sir.”
Fanakar sighs lying down and says, “just go to your seat and complete the homework I gave you three days ago, again.” He turns to his left.
Fushi looks disappointed, and then with puppy eyes looks at the boy saying, “you will help me, right Arthur?”
“Nope”, says the boy looking at an empty wall with no posters, just white paint on it.
“Oh, so your name for waking up late today is Arthur Leywin?”, says a familiar elf girl with white strands in her straight black natural hair with beautiful and vivid green eyes. She scoots off her desk and walks towards the boy.
The boy, a bit embarrassed and darts a side-eye at his best friend. Fushi, who is looking up at the ceiling counting the nearly invisible paint strikes on the ceiling, ignoring his friend’s plight and angry eyes.
“Nah, he’s just calling me that because I was earlier defending the actions of Arthur in the story”, says the boy turning back to face the classroom and his childhood friend and classmate.
“Uh, huh, so you were defending Arthur’s actions against accusations of a fellow Arthur Leywin fan, I see. So, what’s the new score between Fushi and Mahira?”, asks the elf.
The boy instinctively replied, “256 – 369, Anna.”
The horror settling in, as the boy turns and looks at Fushi. Fushi is smiling and the boy realizes ‘oh, no, the story about to be spun is going to be wilder.’ Fushi nods once looking towards the boy and starts spouting, “he didn’t wake up even when his sister broke his door today to wake him up and then fixed it back up, then his mom went and tried waking him up. But we all know, don’t we boys?”
“That our boy can’t wake up!”, repeats the boys collected at the other end of the class and resumes their conversation back while Fushi goes on and says, “so his mom starts with his name as the usual tradition, but even she loves name calling but respectful names only. So she goes on first with the things present in the room. ‘Oh, boy’, that’s what I thought.’ He better sleep until some more colorful names comes.’”
At that point Anna held up her hand to stop Fushi , “stick to the facts, no spit balling. So what she called him?”
He said, “yeah, I know, I know. But look at him all about to go feral at me”; while the boy just has raised eyebrows and a face holding back a retort. The boy says, “keep going.”
Fushi now looking at his friend and winking, slowly starts walking and turns towards the third column from right out of the six columns of benches towards his seat. Fushi says, “so yeah, he just ended up getting called as Naruto, Ichigo, Aizen, Madara, Sasuke, Grey, and Arthur. Maybe there were other names as well, but yeah. You know how it is.”
The boy at this point interjects, “did I tell you how he was lying on the ground after getting one shotted this morning in the living room?”
“Nah, man, it’s fine. I won’t come in between that triangle you got going”, taunted Fushi. Anna said, “there’s no triangle, there’s a whole cube going on here and you will be the first thing getting buried under it.”
Fushi reached his seat, which is just three seats away from the back wall in third column, right next to Fushi’s which is in fourth column from right or the large windows of the classroom. These windows give a clear view to the school’s entrance gate.
The other two girls who were talking to Anna before Fushi and the boy arrived, got behind Fushi and to his right to block him off. The boy smiles and tilts his head to right.
“Fight me”, says Fushi repressing his laughter. Anna says, “uh, huh, and what about that plant behind you?”
Anna, an elf with a plant control manifest, has already grown a tree branch from the banyan tree outside who’s top just reaches the third floor where the classroom is located. Normally, that banyan tree till now only reached upto the window pane’s border, but for now, a single branch has made it’s way into the class and made a 6 feet heighted plant grappling controlled beast-like structure.
“Do not break anything or you will be paying for it”, came the sleepy voice of Fanakar. “Sir, may I break a student or two while at it?”, asked Anna. Fanakar whispered in yawns, “breaking Fushi will amount to nothing, rather restore the trees that are….” Fanakar dozing back to his sleep.
“And he goes back to sleep”, said Priya, one of the two girls covering Fushi’s exits.
The plant grappler has already locked and picked Fushi up by now, and Fushi has just made a blade from his manifest, trying to cut off and free him from trap, to no avail as Anna just recovers the severed plant joints while her hand is extended towards her construct for controlling it and it’s growth and replacement rate.
The boy says, “why not give him a strait jacket? Sounds simple and I can tell you it’s construction.”
Anna said, “good idea, so how do I make that?” The girl’s hand trembling a bit from Fushi’s constant rupturing of the branches. She thinks, ‘I am glad he hasn’t developed anything that could allow him to move at higher speeds or he could easily overpower many people’.
Fushi caught up in his attempt to escape entrapment says, “hey, don’t make the strait jacket too tight, ok bro?”
The boys gives a thumbs up and says, “for my best friend, it will be the tightest in the history of mankind.”
The boy details the geometric construction to follow for a loose strait jacket to Anna. The girl as she follows starts to recognize how well her childhood friend has her manifest figured out and analysed.
The bell to the first period rings at 9:00 AM as the strait jacket is finished and the branch goes back to it’s normal height on the banyan tree.
An unzipping sound from the back of the teacher’s desk comes followed by a yawn, as the students settled back in their seats, some coming from the hallway right outside the class, some running at top speed to class’s gate to enter and the ones who were already in the classroom settles in their seats first. Fanakar stands up from his sleeping bag.
Anna settles in her seat in front of the boy while Fushi sits to his left. Fushi still trying to get out of his strait jacket, as Fanakar gets up looks toward the class and sees the leaf constructed manifest strait jacket.
Fanakar signals the few students who just arrived at the class’s gate to come inside.
Fanakar walks upto Fushi and looks at his strait jacket. “Good manifest mathematical construction, you should remember it, Anna”, said Fanakar.
Anna replied, “it wasn’t just my effort, most of it was from Arthur, and Fushi acted as such a good model, look at him how happy he is.” Fushi really confused, ‘did he tell her how to construct a good strait jacket or he just wanted to give me a green jacket?’
“Yes, I know, but the strait jacket isn’t tight as it could be but confusing enough for the one wearing, and it’s you who applied his- Wait, who’s Arthur?”, asked Fanakar.
“That would be me sir for today”, said the boy raising his arm, with a face of unaffected from all the commotion.
“You should start waking up earlier or I will be getting to know new names before you pass out, Akhidra Karna”, said Fanakar.
“Oh, come on, sir!” came the reply from everyone in the class.
“What? I have already went with the names for last entire year, I better start remembering his real name or I will end up remembering him as the guy who had name changes every other day”, complained Fanakar.
Fanakar looks around and counts that everyone, except 6 students who have submitted absence leave, are all present. He contemplates and looks at today’s time table.
Fanakar walks upto the front and gets behind the teacher’s desk, pick up his sleeping bag and begins saying, “Just reminding everyone of the rules and protocols as per UN laws.”
Fanakar points to the left side of the black board which is closer to the window panes. There is a poster of the few simple guidelines regarding manifests and magic.
He reads, “1. Always plan and fix your manifest. 2. Take a local manifest guide’s help if facing problems in manifest awakening or handling any of the sub-states of the manifests. 3. Support magic user and manifest users and form stronger bonds to better the society and the world. 4. Use aura for speeds above mach 0.5 to protect your environment and anyone close by.”
Chakshas raised his hand and said, “sir, that’s not what the guidelines say.”
“Yeah, but that’s what they are trying to say, if you want me to repeat that entire 1000 word essay, everyone can repeat it yourself in your mind. I am starting class with Manifest history. Yes, Priya the first period is supposed to be about Manifest mathematics, but I just woke up and both those subjects are in today’s timetable and both are taught by me, so we are doing history first, I want to wake up completely.”
Priya lowered her hand. And so did Chakshas. But both of them had a face of excitement, just like everyone else, even the boy everyone has been calling Arthur but his real name is Akhidra Karna.
Akhidra takes a breath and takes out his notebook on manifest analysis to update Anna’s manifest analysis and Fushi’s manifest analysis.
Fanakar opens up his bag and takes out the book on history titled ‘Modern history from 2020 to mid-24th century: A concise history of struggles and manifests’. He also takes two more books out, both being different volumes from the book series ‘Encyclopedia to new possibilities’.
