The horrifying words haunted her. They had given her the push to finally flee. She knew she was leaving behind all she knew and cared about. Her family. Her friends. The horses that the compound owned. The car had been her best option for escape. She knew where the keys were kept and she knew a little bit about how to drive.
And now she was driving carefully down the dark forest roads, with only the headlight of the car to light her path. The roads all looked scary and unfamiliar in the darkness. Layla was starting to suspect that she was completely lost, and just going in desperate loops on the same roads.
