Lightningpaw woke to her mentor, Goldenfur, calling her name. Goldenfur was a light ginger she-cat with a white belly patch and green eyes. Today she was going on patrol. Moonpaw, her best friend, and Flowershine was going with them. Moonpaw was a small, grey, she-cat, and Flowershine was a white senior warrior with brown and grey spots. They were going to patrol the Thunderclan borders. While they were on the way, Goldenfur told Moonpaw and Lightningpaw that Novastar, the Windclan leader, had said that they and Lightningpaw’s brother, Specklepaw, could go to the gathering tonight. Novastar was a black she-cat with a very thick pelt, that everyone knew, was very loyal to the clan. Suddenly, she saw Flowershine prick her ears. She realised that she could hear and smell it too. The scent of Riverclan. “Moonpaw! Go back to camp to tell Novastar about this!” Goldenfur hissed. Flowershine was already creeping toward the scent. Moonpaw ran quietly toward the Windclan camp. Lightningpaw followed a couple of fox lengths behind them. Suddenly, she saw a white tail behind some bushes. “There!” Lightningpaw hissed quietly toward the others, just loud enough, so that Goldenfur and Flowershine could hear it, but the Riverclan cats couldn’t. “It’s Whitewhisker, the Riverclan deputy!” Flowershine mewed. Lightningpaw realised that there were 3 other cats behind him. Suddenly, Goldenfur sprang toward them. “This is windclan territory!” She hissed loudly. “I- we...” Flowershine signaled to Lightningpaw with her tail, that she should stay behind, while Goldenfur signaled to Flowershine that they should attack. Lightningpaw crept silently backward, while Flowershine jumped on Whitewhisker. Goldenfur held on one of the cats’ backs, and the cat twisted painfully, so that they exposed their belly. Goldenfur gave it a deep scratch, that sent the cat yowling into Thunderclan territory. Flowershine had already scared the Riverclan deputy away with a bite on his hind leg. When they had scared the rest of the cats away, Lightningpaw heard something behind her. To her surprise, it was Moonpaw, with their medicin cat, Blackeye, and Lightningpaw’s brother, Specklepaw.
