Sar'gen opened his eyes and closed them again because it was very bright. A terrible headache was killing him. He moved his body and felt strange. There was no herb smell and it was a familiar sensation from the clothing. He opened his eyes again.
It was his old general tent that he lived most of his life. However it did not look old, it was a new shiny tent. He could recognize it from anywhere but everything was new in it. Sar'gen looked down and saw that he was wearing his black armor. He fought in this armor many fights but due to sickness and old age could not wear it for the past 30 years. It was still shining without any damage. It was strange so he stood up and felt like his body moved easily. He was not a sick and old person anymore and he was back in his general tent. Sar'gen reached for the shield and using it as a mirror he saw his young self staring in disbelief.
-How it could be? - Sar'gen tried to remember everything from the day before. He was dying...200 years old body that was too sick and tired to move...doctors...jewel...Omonor...
-Omonor!!!...- Sar'gen grabbed his head trying to remember words that Omonor said before he fainted.
Something about - the destiny and fate... he would give me a chance to meet my fated lover and it would be not a dream....how it could be?
-Omonor...Sar'gen tried to remember all the small details about Magical King and all his powers. I never heard that he could reverse time back or maybe it is just an illusion...dream...but Omonor warned him that it would be not a dream...I do not think that he would be joking like this with a person who freed his daughter...what else was there?...that i could change everything...make good decisions...
Sar'gens' headache becomes unbearable. He stands up again and starts walking back and forth.
Bang...loud noise at entry disturbed his thoughts and he saw three of his closest comrades walking into the tent. He has not seen them for many years...
Kedra, who was his best friend, was a great tactician and talented orator. She was the same, young as he remembered her, with short light red hair and smart perceptive grey eyes, bubbly and bright, she was his greatest support, his advisor. She who was killed in the battle over the Almiral kingdom was walking and smiling towards him and by her side was ... Vulal... and his twin sister Solala... Vulal bent over to the entry tent as he used to do many years ago, he was over 2 meters tall his huge frame filled the tent. His strong but shy older brother fought next to him and protected him using his huge body as a shield. Who got all these injuries instead of him and who died from wounds almost immediately after unification. Vulal his oldest brother, his caring beautiful brother, who lived his life to protect his family. Next to him was Solala, his calm oldest sister, who was a wise, reserved, and quiet person. Who loved to care about everyone but fought bravely and was the best Ilula warrior he knew and who died miserably from the grief.
...His best friends, best people, people whom he trusted unconditionally and who fought side by side with him for so many years and died such miserable deaths are now back to life. His people...
Sar'gen ran towards them with open arms and squeezed them in a desperate hug. He felt overwhelmed, crying and sobbing from happiness as a child. Sar'gen never even imagined that he could see them alive again. It was an absolute miracle.
-Omg, I missed you so much...Sob...Sob...all of you...alive...omg...Kedra...I never thought...my friends...I would never see you again...Bro....Thank Gods...Thank Gods... you are all alive...Sis - Everyone was stunned by Sa'gen's hug and words, as they had just seen each other a few minutes ago. They were so surprised that initially allowed Sar'gen to hug them but after some time Vulal became uncomfortable so he pushed his brother away and looked into his crying eyes.
-Sar'gen...Sar'gen brother... are you feeling ok?
-Where we are now? - asked Sar'gen letting go of his friends.
Kedra and Vulal glanced at each other but Solala replied patiently
- We are preparing to battle Marasi' army over Gazol' kingdom. Are you ok? What happened?
-Marasi...omg...this is it...- realization hit Sar'gen, everything become clear as day. All memories from his past life flooded back.
He started this quest with his father, but his father and mother tried to avoid fights, they used diplomacy to unite. A few months ago his father's health deteriorated significantly so his parents returned to Ilula kingdom and he replaced them as lead commander.
Sar'gen was not a diplomat, he was young and eager at that time. He wanted prove himself so instead of going easy way he invaded Gazol' kingdom whose general, Masari lead the army....
This battle...Sar'gen closed his eyes in pain, he suffered so many losses.. it would bring an end to his parents.... his youngest sister Donika died there...Donika...the last hope for his mum, the last heaven spear wielder... a loss that would destroy his strong mum, Alkalala, completely... she would pass away shortly after this battle...which would crush his family and dad...Marasi... fought 10 days against Ilula' superior bigger army. Sar'gen could not bring him down till all blood drained from Marasi's injured body...Masari... he hated him for so many years, blaming him for all these losses...but it was Sar'gen's fault.
That fight... Sar'gen would see in his nightmares again and again, the biggest regret in his life...so many people died because of his arrogancy. His biggest mistake...the bitter lesson. There would be no recovery from this battle as his family would be not the same after Donika and Mum's death.
Sar'gen moved to his desk and waved hand to his generals.
-We need to talk...listen to my story...you probably would not believe it at the beginning but as I would continue everything would make sense...- Sar'gen decided to tell his friends the truth. They just started their journey but he knew they would trust him. His comrades who supported him for many years, the best people in the world, his people who would always be on his side no matter what.
He told them about Omonor, the jewel, years of fighting, unification of the kingdoms, their deaths and deaths of everyone close to them, his long life, his bad decisions, his regrets, and how after 200 years he ended up dying without successor with empire on the verge of collapse.
Kedra and the twins were listening to his friend's story quietly and with disbelief on their faces but as Sar'gen added more and more details their expression changed. Maybe they were young but they had known each other from childhood and Sar'gen would never lie to them. Moreover magic was common in their world.
After Sar'gen finished, the tent went silent. Kedra and the twins were young generals but they wanted to have a future, create a family, and settle. The sad story of Sar'gen predicted their dreary future without happiness, love, and even children. Of course, they were glad to know that they at least succeeded in uniting the kingdoms and creating an empire but still...everyone wanted to have a happy end...the future looked bleak for everyone in the tent even Sar'gen's death was miserable and lonely.
- Omonor...-Kedra stood up and walked to the small tent window.
- I heard he is the most powerful magical being. So it is possible that he could reverse the time.
Vulal and Solala nodded.
-We know the future so we can avoid making mistakes..- added Vulal
-Yes, we will...
-Should we leave Gazol and go to Wheyla kingdom? From your story it was the easiest kingdom to conquer due to corruption, - his sister said
-No, I have a plan. We need to kidnap Marasi...- Kedra's eyes almost popped from the shock.
- Are you serious? You just told us that Marasi was the strongest warrior that we ever uncounted.
-Yes so we cannot fight against him but I know his weakness. Princess Zia who he holds dear would be the trap for him, - Sar'gen smirked. He was not a young arrogant boy anymore, he had almost 200 years of experience at his disposal. Moreover, he no longer holds to his pride, years of grief fixed his arrogant self. He reached for Ilula magical artifact that he never used in his previous life.
A magical artifact from Ilula called Cosanin, was a beautiful star-shaped gemstone green in color with white splashes like wings so everyone called him -Angel wings stone. It was a stunning gemstone that could grant the wish of transforming/changing appearance to somebody else. Sar'gen never used it before as a warrior his priority was to obtain battle artifacts. In his previous life, he collected only artifacts that would make him strong in fights.
However, now Cosanin was perfect for him, as he wanted to use this magical artifact to avoid fighting battles. Cosanin as all magical artifacts had a price for its use. In his past life, Sar'gen thought this price was ridiculous so he never even touched it but now he understands that nothing is too much when you can save your friends.
Sar'gen smiled at his generals.
-I am going to win this battle without a fight...
****
Gazol' royal palace
- We are going to lose...- Princess Zia was standing next to the tall handsome man. The man wore the general armor, he had long dark hair and brown eyes.
- Probably...- Masari decided not to continue his sentence. He saw Sar'gen during the negotiation of surrender. The most feared man alive was almost 2 meters tall, with a strong build and bright blue eyes. These powerful eyes that looked at you with unwavering determination were unforgettable. At the same time, Sar'gen moved without sound almost stealthy, he was like the winter tiger that he was named after, and everyone in his presence felt like prey... Masari had mixed feelings after that meeting, he was fascinated by Sar'gen and still vividly remembers all the details from it.
- All Ilula's warriors were almost a head taller than anyone in Gazol 's army, - added Zia, - What chances do have against these people?
Zia was smart and wise, she would be a good ruler but unfortunately, his brother was crowned. He was a stupid person that Masari hated. Masari adored his niece, who was the only daughter of his oldest sister. King and his sister loved each other and had a very happy marriage unfortunately his sister died when Zia was just a small child. Masari decided to protect his little niece at all costs.
The current king Uzaz, was from the first marriage of the old king. The current king's mother was from the neighborhood kingdom and she hated everything about Gazol including her husband and son. The crown prince had none around him during his childhood, he ended up growing up as a spoiled person who did not care about his people or kingdom engaging in a lavish lifestyle while his people starved and suffered. However, he thought about himself highly and degraded Ilula's kingdom as barbaric. He sent his royal army to invade Ilula and teach them a lesson. Ilula in retaliation destroyed this army and invaded Gazol.
-Princess please go rest, we need to prepare for the battle, - Masari looked warmly at Zia
- Uncle, what we could do? Do we have any options? - Zia pleaded with Masari.
Masari sighed regretfully as he looked at his niece. Inside his heart, he knew that Sar'gen and his army were fighting for a good reason. They wanted to stop endless wars and save people from this miserable fate. He wanted to support him but as any general, he pleaded to protect his kingdom and king.
Masari had no hope of winning this battle, it was probably his last days in the world. He hugged his niece and whispered to her.
- Please please Zia look after yourself. If something happened promise me that you would be safe. Please. I heard that Sar'gen does not kill royals who ask him for mercy. Please. You need to be safe so you can save Gazol.
Zia hugged her uncle back and cried.
She knew that Masari already prepared a few plans to keep her safe, she knew what this meant.
