Blinding rays of light awoke him from his eternal slumber as an unexplicable cold seared in his lungs. His heart hammered against his ribs as he keeled over into a ball, coughing and spluttering dry scabs of blood...the world seeming to shake and tilt around him.
He felt frail and weak. As if his body had expended all it's energy to kickstart him back to life.
Was he... dead? Was this the afterlife? Or was he still alive somehow?
Asher subconsciously reached towards upwards, as if to confirm if he had really died the day before, felt the absence of a jaw and his throat.
He tried to breathe. No air came out what was left of his mouth.
How... how was he breathing? Was he even breathing?
He staggered to his feet, the muscles in his body protesting, telling him to rest. With great effort, he burst through the door of a toilet, as he glanced into the mirror. His jaw dangled helplessly on one side of his face, whilst his remained ripped open.
Asher wondered how he was even alive.
As he collapsed onto the ground in exhaustion, his elbow knocked a box onto the ground.
'A... sewing kit?'
As he clutched it, a note fell out.
'You have ten minutes. Fix your body. Survive'.
Asher closed his eyes for a moment as he pondered something.
'It'll be painful.... but I wont survive long with no way to breathe'.
Asher opened his eyes.
'F*ck it, not like I have anything going for me right now anyways'.
Raising his shaking arms, he took the lid of the sewing kit off, choosing a sharp needle, before pulling out a great length of red thread.
He stared at the tip of the steel, taking deep breaths to prepare himself. Asher brought himself to the mirror, and grimaced before ruthlessly jabbing it into his jaw and reconnecting it, as pain erupted once more in his senses.
Taking another piece of thread, Asher quickly quickly jabbed a new piece of thread into his neck, and connected his exposed skin and flesh. He quickly curled into a ball as he inwardly screamed as searing pain tore through his senses.
As he thread the last of his exposed throat shut, a blue light flashed in front of him, causing Asher to jump. It was a transparent panel. Text soon appeared on it.
